[Question] Volume 3 International Order

Is there anyone else who has ordered Vol. 3 from Right Stuf from outside the US? I ordered it last night, and today recieved an email asking for a scanned copy of my card and some address verification. I've never had to do this for any other company before and just wanted to make sure it was all right. 

I may be a bit paranoid about credit card fraud.

I haven't ordered from there at all, but this seems kind of funny. I would never scan a copy of my card no matter what. I've order from amazon, ebay and other places and I've never been asked that. I also think you should never be asked that since you've already gave the card info when you ordered. I don't know where the email care from, but I wouldn't reply to it. You should probably get in touch with staff at Right Stuf.

Really? This seems odd, because you should NEVER reveal the back of your credit card due to the security numbers on the back. Only the card owner should know that. I also don't think you should have to give ID and if you do, NEVER give out your passport info to just anyone. I really think they should change their policies on this, because they come off as scammers.

I ordered my copy last night too, but I wasn't sent an email to send a scanned copy of my credit card. I'm from Canada though, so might be a different situation if you're from a different area.

As the first commenter said, might want to contact Right Stuff and see if they actually sent that email themselves.

This is kinda off topic, but my paypal account actually sent me and email saying they want a copy of my id, social, and proof of add. I've been with them for over a year already. Anyone else using paypal get one?

Yep. But I never gave them mine. so I cant add funds into my paypal account. but since I had that account connected with my bank and card, I just order and let paypal take the money from my bank.

its the new policy, i guess. OTL

mine is connected to my bank, so does that mean I can still use it to buy stuff and they'll take it from there?

I had mine connected and set up in a way in case I over spend my paypal balance, it would deduct the rest from my bank. You should try it though just to see if it works. (it will ask you your bank account number always before continuing the transcation)

It's generally a requirement for anyone overseas to provide this when they order from Rightstuf. I agree that it sounds dodgy though. That's why if there's something I want from Rightstuf I usually try to find anywhere else that may have it first.

hmmm. I ordered one and received it already, and didn't need to do any of that. and I'm in Canada. is it maybe a random request for out of country orders?

I had to do this a while ago when I first ordered from them. I was a bit uncomfortable about it at first but I had already been messed around by other stores and they were pretty much my last hope, so I did it. Despite how strange it seems, they appear legitimate. They emailed me soon afterwards and said that after checking the images, they had deleted them. I've never had any strange charges on my card since then, and have received all my orders from them with no problems.

From what I remember, they do let you block out some of the numbers on the card so that they don't see the whole thing. Also, you only have to do this for your first order - after you've done it once, they'll process future orders normally.

It's up to you whether to go ahead but in my experience it turned out fine.

That is an extremely odd policy and I don't understand it, but as a US customer I can verify the site's integrity. It's a very well respected business, and I highly doubt if they would scam overseas customers. Also re; the security code on the back, that's fairly often something that online stores ask for, albeit not by way of scanning the card itself.

I ordered the 3rd book from them, and recieved the same question. I think it's just a matter of worry about credit card fraud on their end.

If you do decide to send them your details, it's all done over a secure connection, and they delete it after they've verified your identity. It seems pretty safe, and I got my book last Friday, as expected.
