If this is the cover for volume 5, can I just say that I can now safely add Romano to my list of 'Manly Characters that I love'.

Also yeah Gilbird wears hats lately, it seems. I like to think Prussia fashions them when he needs something to do with his hands and has boxes of little bird clothes and things he dresses his friends in on occasion.

I was worried about cover art after ordering the special edition-- they tend to look worse than regular edition-- but that's over /o/ Close-ups cut out the background-y space so it looks more like a book cover, less like a promo poster for said book. >w<

Hungary looks more... girly o_o Maybe Hima is finally understanding how to draw girls? Who knows, maybe I just haven't seem Hungary drawn since 7 months and it's throwing me off, but I do notice some of the differences. Where did your boobs go Hungary?! They look smaller! //shot

Girly? Wow, you're right! She's not supposed to be girly... At least, according to her character? Maybe she's had some secret development?! (Which would be a shame because I really like tomboy Hungary ;w; ))

And I think Hima draws females pretty well compared to other artists. For one, he's got proportions down pretty well and understands that girls also have organs and not just air that they have bitty waists and huge boobs u_u'

I don't like the cover, the art is great, not the problem, but there are too much characters! Would be best without Spain and S.italy, just my opinion.

I'm not really sure what to make of this. I'm happy, but it looks kinda like good fanart. You know, like when the artist is getting a lot of things right, but just a few details wrong? Their faces look very strange to me (starting with Hungary's huge eyes), and it looks as though they all have the same head/face shape whereas they used to have more individual ones. I know it could be the effect of colored pic vs black and white drawing, but still... I wonder if somebody decided that the style should be more anime-like or appealing to girls or something. I hope it's not a sign that the stress is getting to Hima. :/

Agreed - it looks almost like very good imitation fanart. One thing people are theorizing is that it may have been drawn largely by assistants, which is one explanation. But I agree, if this was drawn by Hima, it seems very rushed, and it makes me concerned that maybe the stress and workload is getting to him. I mean, I'm excited about volume 5, but I REALLY do think Himaruya's doing far too much work right now. It's worrying :(.

Romano looks also different because his chin didn't look like that. His face was more round, with a very short jaw/chin area. Now it's long and pointy. I liked the old design better, tbh.

It's definitely possible that Hima has hired a helper or something, BUUUUUUUUT personally I just think his style has changed again.
They ALL look different. Some less so than others, but they all look much more mature, yet fresh-faced at the same time. If that even makes sense...
