Christmas event - translators and scanlators - discussion

Judging from the comments everybody kindly left in the previous post, we should have a decent number of translators and scanlators to cover the whole event in any time of day. Which is wonderful.

Now for the way how to organize this, the easiest solution seems to be a thread here in the hetalia comm where we all could simply comment with posts like

lost_hitsu:
"Taking the next update 11 a.m. JST -  any translators to work with me?"

or

"Translating the current strip, need a scanlation - anybody available?"

etc. etc. I know it will take a bit time to make it work properly but I still want to keep it as simple as possible, so that we don't end up with too many rules that would slow down the work. Things like doublechecking previous strips and discussing about complicated expressions could be also possible with a thread like this, but I guess we'll figure it out once the event will actually start.

I should be online often enough to keep the post more or less updated, although of course I can't make any promises, only that I will try. If anybody else has more experience with this type of events and wants to cover it, I'll be more than happy to leave it to you.

If you have any ideas for improvement or have a completely different, better system, please let me know. As I said all I want is to make our work as efficient and pleasant as possible.

Otherwise have fun with holiday preparations, hopefully see you all during the event!

That's a good idea, actually !

Knowing I'm on PC from around 6 P.M. to 11.45 P.M., I can translate update around that time if someone is here to cooperate (as my level is in the average). It will depend of my schedule : I'm on Christmas break, I may go out and watch a movie, go shopping, go outside to see Christmas stands...

I'm sure we will manage together somehow!
That would be awesome. :)

Ugh, turns out, on Christmas Day, I'll probably out with family. And if it starts tomorrow I probably won't be very free, too. I won't be there all day, since I don't want to be, but I'm not sure exactly when I'll be home. . . . /o\ If it lasts longer than a day or two I should be relatively free the days after. I'll post a comment in the thread when I'm able to do any scanlating/cleaning. This really sort of blows my day.

Ignore me if it's not my place, but if anyone wants the status thread to be posted over at [livejournal.com profile] hetalia_events, I'll gladly add it to the comm's link list for faster access.

Well yeah obviously while it's still new, we need announcements to stay at the main comm where they'll be seen. But I meant in case the status updates aren't going to be in this exact post.
Every thread put there is one less that this comm can worry about.

>w< Well, I mentioned it, but I'm sure I wasn't the only person thinking about one. I just happened to luck out by being the first to create it.

Thank you so much for helping to organize this! Christmas for me isn't until January 7th, so I'll be here with lots of coffee, a bunch of Japanese dictionaries, and a Santa hat. :D

Eh? January 7th? Are you Russian? x)

[identity profile] y4nderenka.livejournal.com 2011-12-24 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, Russian-American. I go to a Russian Orthodox church in a nearby city. They have Ukrainian and Greek and Serbian churches, too, pretty interesting place.

Oh cool!~ :D (And yeah, Greek churches are interesting! I'm American, but my dad's Greek and stuff. Their churches are really big, haha! ...And some are very large on even larger mountain top hills. O.o Are Russian churches similar like that? Lol. xD)

Aaa, I'm sorry if I'm late ;///;

Considering the information in Hima's latest post, is it possible that is event is going to be disjointed pictures/comics or will it be an ongoing story? I think last year's Bloodbath started off with requests too, didn't it?

Anyway, I'm usually on from 6:45pm to 11:45pm Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8) - I might have work on Christmas, or the day after, but I should be good for the rest of the time c:
