MAGAZINE RECRUITMENT - LOOKING FOR WRITERS AND DESIGNERS
Some of you may remember World Parade, a Hetalia fan magazine that discontinued this past summer. However, a new magazine is expected to take its place...

The Circle is an up and coming fanzine that will focus on history, politics, and the fandom's interaction with both. It captures Hetali's essence-- taking history and affairs to a more familiar, personal level while being informative and fun, with each issue expected to have a historical theme that is relevant to the fandom.
But The Circle will not be possible without the help of many dedicated, talented fans. If you're interested in taking part in this enriching experience, please read on for more details. PM me your application when complete.
- Free time, diligence,commitment
All major positions require someone who is firm enough to make sure the other staff stay on task, someone who is active online, someone who is not afraid to offer constructive criticism, and someone who will do whatever it takes to see that everything is done before the due date. The magazine will most likely be put out every two months, so you need to contribute at least a few hours to the magazine each month. If you cannot do that regularly, please do not apply.
I'm looking for outgoing, friendly people who are willing to make connections with the other staffers and participate in 'off duty' group chats. I will not accept anyone who is unwilling to make friendships and participate with us outside of formal business. I will also not accept anyone who appears to be unable to handle criticism. Also, if you cannot handle profanity and sexual humor, I would advise you not to apply. Casual get-togethers in the past have proven to be rowdy. ;)
The primary responsibility of the Advertisement Manager is to see that the magazine is supplied with advertisement content and copy. That includes finding Hetalia-based organizations, websites, users, and communities to advertise, dealing with advertisement requests, asking prospective clients for permission and information, sending the information to the editor, writing the slogan and body copy for the ads, and reporting progress, issues, and any other relevant information to the editor. You'll need creativity and wit and a good sense of style for writing effective body copy.

How often you are available to work/communicate through MSN:
Outside commitments : (such as school, work, clubs, sports, organizations offline or online, etc.)
Your level of involvement with the Hetalia fandom: (do you write fanfiction, draw art, make graphics, participate in cons, events, online community discussions, do you roleplay, a member of any Hetalia forums? List anything and everything significant)
Please write two 1-paragraph long ads for two different products, making it as professional as possible with a header, slogan (optional but preferred), body copy, and call to action. You do NOT have to graphically design the ad:
1. (The first ad may be for any product you wish. It would be for a Hetalia forum you roleplay on, or a Hetalia community you really enjoy.)
2. (The second must an advertisement for the Cracktalia LJ community)
Here you may list any other merits that you think will convince me you can do this job well:
Why you want this particular position:
In 1-3 paragraphs, explain how Hetalia has impacted your life: (You may be as creative as you wish)
- Designers
I am looking for an artist who has the versatility to take time on creating either one or two detailed pieces each issue, or several smaller, less detailed pieces each issue. Having a certain level of skill is required, but I am not looking for someone brilliant. It is most important to me that you are passionate and dedicated.
Writers need to be creative and diligent and willing to contribute 1-2 articles each issue. I will kick you off the team if you begin to slack about the deadline. Your work does not need to be perfect-- what is most important is that writers work with the editor and Head of Writing to supply the magazine with entertaining yet informative articles. Be willing to research.
Designers must use Adobe InDesign and any other program is not acceptable. I am looking for people who can layout about 2-3 advertisements/articles each issue. Designers will work together with the editor and Advertisement Manager to ensure quality magazine pages and ads.

Thank you for showing interest in The Circle! There is no due date for the applications but I would like them as soon as possible, as I want to have the first issue completed some time in December. Once you PM the application to me, expect a prompt response whether you were accepted or not.

• Introduction:
I'm really excited about this new magazine project and getting to meet all of you wonderful fans. But I do understand that some of you may be concerned due to the discontinuation of the last magazine project, World Parade. It was discontinued, but I learned so much from past mistakes. With experience and research combined, I hope to have an efficient and orderly staff system that will ensure the continuation of The Circle. In other words, I may have screwed up with a couple things on World Parade, but things have changed for the better. I look forward to looking through your applications, and good luck!• What I expect from you:

This is just for fun, and for people who have free time and passion.

Well, I'm fairly certain it had a lot to do with the organization. We lacked it. I was going around managing the writing, artwork, designs, advertisement, etc, chasing after people who were slacking... So I personally felt burnt out very quickly. I had too much on plate. That, and people just lost interest in writing for the magazine. It was getting harder to get in touch with staff, nobody really respected the deadline...
But this time I have the organization set up differently. You'll notice I have different 'Heads' that take care of their own little departments. It breaks things up into easier, more manageable units.
I don't expect everything will easy. I expect there to be problems, lack of motivation, and unwillingness. But that's just natural. Everyone hates their 'job' sometimes, but people in the real world keep up with it because it pays. This magazine job doesn't pay, which makes it even harder to stay focused.
But you know what I think? I think this time around, it'll be the fans and the passion that really fuel the magazine. With World Parade, we had no direction and everything felt so... meaningless. Now it feels so much differently because we have something of a purpose, a goal, an idea.
Gah, sorry to have given you a story. I just had a lot to say about this! =P

However, we currently aren't looking for artists because we have about 4-5 already. I'm really sorry. But if we ever need someone to draw in the future, I will definitely let you know.
