Only two days ago or so, I mentioned the possibility of it in a comment, and now it's already official!

Tokyopop Germany officially announces Hetalia for their 2012 lineup!

Viele warten schon gespannt auf diese Nachricht. Wir wurden regelrecht belagert. Unzählige Zuschriften und Anfragen haben uns erreicht, mit der Bitte, Hetalia auf deutsch zu bringen. Jetzt können wir es endlich offiziell bestätigen: Hetalia kommt! In 2012 ist es so weit, der erste Band erscheint in deutscher Sprache.

Oh wow, I did not expect any German publisher would really dare to pick it up. It's probably not going to be published without a three-page disclaimer. And explanatory footnotes. Footnotes everywhere.

The trollish part in me wants somebody to get offended over Hetalia and start drama on a Sarrazin-scale about it. It would make me laugh. :D But it's probably going to stay well under the radar of any thought police.

Worauf ich ja wirklich hoffe: wenn sich die deutsche Übersetzung bewährt und durchsetzt, dann gibt's vielleicht weniger deutschsprachige Fanfic, in der die Charas "Doitsu" oder "Prussia" genannt werden. :|a

Seriously, I was NOT expecting this! Before, everyone was all like "No, never!" and because of the title and subject matter, I figured it would stay that way.

The fact that it's coming now, is a HUGE step in the country of Germany's "recovery", in my opinion. I've been so sad for everyone there, with how this current generation still has seemed to feel guilty about a past that they had nothing to do with.

Accepting Hetalia is a brave step in the right direction. History is history, let's embrace the future together! ^_^
