APH Fanfics Missing?

It seems like a lot of Hetalia fanfics have been disappearing from fanfiction.net lately... There were several I KNOW that I favorited or left critiques on, and yet they're just plain GONE!

I couldn't remember the titles on most of them, so I can't give too many examples. There are definitely two that I found out were gone though, one a crack-fic and the other a serious GerIta story (both were only just starting so I can't give much more details)

But then what hit me hard was trying to find a good one that the Halloween event reminded me of: "From the City". It's an AU fic about Ludwig buying slave Feliciano so he can set him free, but first they have a tough journey to go through to get to Ludwig's hometown.

It's just such a neat, nice story. And... it's gone!

Here's where it USED to be... http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6893767/1/From_the_City

I can't even see the author name from there, and it's gone from my ff.net favorites. There's NO reason it should suddenly be gone... I even tried using archive.org on it, but it said it couldn't crawl the page due to robots.txt, whatever that means.

Does anyone have a copy of it, or know where else it may be posted? Why it was taken down? Anything? @_@ I wanted to share it with everyone while we wait on updates, but... ;_;

Anyone else noticing these disappearances? Is it a big problem?

My biggest hunch here is that the author(s) deleted it. The admins over there are as lazy as Spain; so it couldn't be them having a mass deletion over stories. And as far as I know, there hasn't been a case where stories just suddenly dissapear.

You see, Old Shame and all that? Maybe the authors felt like removing their fics to their journal/other fanfiction sites. Or didn't feel like having their fics cramped up with The Pit.

I smiled a bit at "the admins over there are as lazy as Spain" but they did remove a story of mine fairly quickly after it was reported for abusing the terms and conditions (it was an interactive fic). So, perhaps they have their moments of efficiency. I agree that it was probably the author deleting it, though.

Searching Google, the story might have been written by Saltt: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2769518/Saltt

You could try sending them a message to see if they did write it and still have a copy of it, and if they would be willing to send you a copy of it (or repost it. I wouldn't mind reading that story again).

Robot.txt files are used to block the site from being archived.

So I am not the only one missing a story on ff.net.^^°

I can not remember the name of the story I lost, but it was about England dying due to his lands sinking. It focused on his time sleeping under water, then after some decades (?) awaking again just to learn again what he had forgotten. His people had fled to America but kept their "british-ness".^^
In the end England and Amerika are reunited on the day the "resurrection of Great Britain" is officially announched.

Perhaps the people of this comm can help me find it again!^^°

Could it maybe be this one: "Rebirth" (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7337841/1/Rebirth) ? They sound very similar...
I've noticed fics disappearing too, but kinda figured it was the Pit, things happen, and it sucks but what can you do besides try and find them somewhere else.

As others have said, sometimes authors remove their stories or delete their accounts. I've seen it happen in other fandoms, too. There were some fanfics I enjoyed, so I bookmarked or put them under Favorites only to find them gone.
