Other than camping out at my computer (lol somehow managed to get the 31st off, yay coincidence!!) and murdering my F5 button, what do you do on event posts? Crack it up, huh?
I'm not exactly sure if there will be a halloween event -- but who knows! (Hima loves us fans a lot but if I'd be him I'd think twice doing an event -- it must be very tiring drawing non-stop for hours orz) I'm not a very active user to comment in the main thread with updates, but people here do spazz a lot. ALSO! We generate some memes and jokes in Captalia like 'workbitch Bartolomeo' and 'Himaruya standart time' x)
All the traditions everyone listed sound so interesting! (I remember learning about Dia de los Muertos in my Spanish class~. It sounded like a neat holiday. ^_^) XD Well, I have to say Himaruya was right. Regardless of the old traditions of the holiday our version stemmed from here in the US, I'm dressing up, going trick-or-treating, and watching scary movies, and eating candy. >w< <3
Same in the Philippines! We go to ancestors'/relatives' graves and light candles and such, then the kids eat sweets. Although the younger generations have started trick-or-treating.
Same in Spain! ^^ Though since it's on a Tuesday many people will just take a long weekend here :P When a public holiday in Spain falls on a Tuesday or Thursday employers make the Monday or Friday a holiday as well and give everyone a four-day weekend. This is known as 'hacer puente'.
That's really interesting. I'm American, so I've always celebrated Hallowe'en, and I'm studying abroad in England, where... they still celebrate Hallowe'en. I had no idea other countries celebrate All Saint's Day instead that's so cool!
Sadly enough, despite some comedy sketches I could refer to (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-u0RQkj3Tic), Halloween has become a HUGE thing here in England just like in the US. Trick and Treaters, parties, you name it.
Since I'm a student, almost everyone I know is dressing up in fancy dress and going clubbing. Or partying. Or just drinking in their Halloween costumes. (Ah, the lovely British life of being able to drink at 18. Take that, some American states <3).
Wasn't always like this though. I remember when I was little. Trick or treating barely existed :I. You'd only end up dressing up about one year out of, say, five. The holiday is consuming us more and more xD.
(On a side note: Is it embarrassing that I had no idea what All Saint's Day was until recently? OTL.)
Here in Mexico, All Saints' Day is observed and is called Dia de los Muertos. Like the other Latinoamericano/a posted, we go to the graves of our ancestors and give offerings and pray, but in other cases we stay hme and make huge, elaborate altars that we fill with pictures and food/things our ancestors loved. It's basically a huge party; we get together with our neighbors, friends, and family members and celebrate the lives of our loved ones that have passed rather than mourn them~ :D We give out candy, but mostly in the form of pinatas and such. In some places, though, kids have started dressing up in flashy Halloween-esque costumes~
As a pagan who lives in Wales, I can say that I feel sad that halloween/samhain has become so 'Americanized' here.
However most pagans and manyt country folk still celebrate halloween as a final harvest festival, as well as a night to honour (and sometimes commune) with the dead!
Myself, I am going to be making an offering of pomegramates and apples, carving pumpkins and lighting candles. I'll also be answering the door to the many trick or treaters.
But yes, if anyone is interested in the more traditional halloween celebrated in some Celtic countries like here, google 'samhain'! :D
You too? ;w; I'm doing stuff after my classes. I can't let myself miss this for school! >w< And if Hima-san makes a Halloween event, then Halloween will be amazing no matter what. XDb
I have two reasons as to why I could not participate in a Halloween event that's actually on Halloween. 1. IT'S MONDAY. :I 2. I'm going to be trick or treating the shit out of my neighborhood shut up you're never too old for trick or treating.

Lithuania info translation
Liet: Halloween was originally All Saints' Eve, but it seems to have changed into a flashy festival of sorts in America's home.
Below text bubble: There are also places that make October 31st a national holiday for November 1st!
