I'm very curious about those two national costume sketches too. Even if they're just practice for the costumes, you'd wonder which countries' outfits they'd be...!

My first thought for the girl was definitely Czechia. It's the whole look of the dress. She could possibly be a Slovakia too, since there are some similarities in some traditional clothing between the two. But, the boy looks more of a Slovakia to me.

The boy's hair reminds me of a cross between Hong Kong and Noto (or alternatively the Ishikawa prefecture), while the girl (as others point out) takes after Lithuania a little. But the darker hair also gives her a "Noto" feeling. The two, if countries, do look like they could be related. We probably shouldn't get too far ahead in hoping, but if these would be Czechia and Slovakia, I'm curious which one Himaruya would view as the elder one.

He did once say that Czechia's name (in Japanese) had the feeling of a little girl, while Slovakia's name sounded masculine. And he did note once that he thought of a little girl and older guy. But we do know his plans can change! I'd also wonder how he'd view them, since his ideas of their characters and personalities may also come out differently than Europeans' own stereotypes (like the Italies, or Norway). I'm curious to see what he may have planned, in any case.

I hope people don't jump too fast to conclusions too D:. I liked the little bit of fanart that came for those "designs" but yeah, it wound up all looking very silly in the end. And it didn't help the debates about certain characters' genders, like Portugal ;; The tumblr drama about their gender is most annoying, and I worry some fans might have spammed Himaruya with demands to make them a guy/make them a girl.

He does plan to draw Luxembourg eventually, it's just a matter of when he'll finish them or get back to it. He seemed to be interested in Spanish and Portuguese history a little while ago too, so he must be studying for Portugal. Malaysia and Indonesia seem to be among the "most requested" from people (along with Philippines), so he knows of their popularity. Singapore would be nice though too...
