About characters' appearance...

Lately, the idea of Himaruya looking on websites for references for Hetalia charaters' appearance has became stronger, and I decided to ask you guys...

Do you think that Himaruya got his ideas for Hetalia characters from famous people of that specific country?

For example (and it's just an example), Himaruya got inspired by XXXX singer to make Spain.

Rather than famous people, he often takes inspiration from his friends.
For example, he said America was based off a Canadian friend of his, also a friend of his who spoke kansai dialect was the inspiration for giving Spain a Osaba-ben accent, and so on...

I meant concerning America's character design, not his personality ^^ And while Spain's accent was inspired from a Japanese person, his looks were based off a Spanish friend of his...
So, there really isn't a pattern that Hima follows, he just does what he feels is right at the moment ^^

If I'm not wrong, he use to base on his friends... I know that Thailand was based on his thai friend (he once posted a photo and yes, the same hair, glasses, etc). The same with United States based on a Canadian friend.

But maybe he used Plushenko for Russia (lol).
