America and Hungary...Maybe not weird, but deffinately not a common pairing...

I actually came up with the idea WAY back when I wanted to write a Hetalia/Priates of the Caribbean fic (which I never did). America was going to be Will and Hungary was gonna be Elizabeth and England was Jack and Prussia was Barbossa....

Not sure if the pairing could work or not, just wanted to share XD

Rome/Sealand.

It would work because Sealand would idealize Rome as the ultimate nation, something he strives to be, and Rome could find his idealism and strive to become a nation cute and take him under his wing and he has no problem with him being so young. It wouldn't work because Rome died several millenniums before Sealand was even and idea.

Australia/Austria.

Just few months ago I made a humorous comic about these two and apparently some Aussie/Austria fans liked my pages and featured them in a DA fanclub. I found it bizarre of this newly and strange pairing. xD But it seems fitting. I could picture Austria still upset from all mixed-up names by being mistaken as Australia while Australia tries his best to give his apologies. x)

I'm not trying to bash other peoples' pairings, but I have a hard time imagining Canada being in relationships forever alone? with really loud, exuberant, brash characters. They say opposites attract, but Canada is such a cuddly sweetheart that I want to tuck him away for safe-keeping :3

Romano x Hong Kong

...Initially it happened during a really intense mafia!RP, but then I discovered that my Hong Kong got along oddly well with Romano RPers and it kinda stuck. So if they're not bros, they're like, multi-night flings. They tend to argue about who has the better food and whether the Italians improved upon Chinese noodles or just bastardised them.

Norway/Hong Kong.
This came up in roleplay, and it turned out surprisingly well. (... And strangely enough, somewhat fluffy, which was completely unexpected)

The dynamic ended up kind of similar to Norway/Iceland, except without all the historical/personal/familial baggage (and incest), and with more teasing and mischief. Cute!

One would think it wouldn't work very well because they don't have a whole lot of historical connection. That's a valid point. On the other hand, that could be part of the appeal: less baggage than a relationship like, say, Norway/Denmark. Forming relationships with someone unconnected to oneself is like starting with a blank slate, and getting close to someone new is almost like an adventure because there isn't that long history.

I can't see it being, like, a formal, structured relationship, not at all. But they might see one another occasionally.

I'm not into romantic pairings, but I would like to see my 3 favourite characters be best buds:

Romano + England + Prussia

What I have seen in the comics seems to suggest they don't like each other much. But they have some similarities: Being lonely types, being left behind while their little brother moves up in the world, leaving them a bit neglected. A bit tsunderish, brash and forthright in what they say, which somewhat hides their true feelings.

The reason I though it was weird/unusual is because at least from Romano's standpoint, it's a tagteam of England, who he fears, and another potato loving bastard.

And from that reasoning I thought it probably wouldn't work, but my last post gives the main reasons I think it would.

For me, it doesn't depend at all on the pairing but rather on how the author is handling it. Prussia/Canada doesn't usually interest me at all, but there's one story in which the premise and interaction are just so good that I wish nothing more than for them to get together (and it breaks my heart that the author has listed other pairings in the header, haha).

On the other hand, my favourite pairing is Prussia/Romano, but I've read some stories about them that really left me cringing and hurrying to hit the back button.

That said, I'd like to see someone make Russia/Romano work. I have no idea why. I just like the idea.

Recently I came across a video of Turkey/Prussia.
Probably the absolute strangest thing I've ever seen. The worst part is that I can't decide if they'd work together or not.
Both are a bit brash (is that the word I'm looking for?), too much to work together.

Also, I keep running into England/Belarus.
Both have the creepiness factor up to 11, but that's it.
Hm... if there was a really good fanfiction for it, maybe I'll consider.

I've recently fallen for America/Italy(North) a little XD! But I think that they could be great pals. It's totally nonsense I know, but I like it XD! The two could go atmosphere searching together. Or example, in gakuen Hetalia, they would hang out together in the meeting room. With America bringing his hamburgers and ice cream and Italy bringing his Pasta and Pizza XD! Then they would mess up the whole room and not clean it before leaving. Then England and Germany would lecture them after that XDD!!

Actually, this started from a small idea. then it was fueled when I roleplayed with my friends and made dark America rape dark Italy (I was America) DX But then Italy was the one that wanted to rape America first >_> Of course America will have to turn the tables on him since he's dark sided at the moment >_>
But even so, I never really think that they could be romantically involved in a relationship XDD!

CANADA/TAIWAN

They would make a really cute couple, they are both ar really sweet, and as taiwan it's more outgoing than Canada, she might be a great company for him. The same goes for her, as Canada haves a temper more calm and it's more head level. They both likes animals and nature life. And their curl <3 I want for them to end up entangled by them.

Also the Canadian Parliament have a "The Canada–Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group". And to celebrate Canada’s 25th year in Taiwan is holding thematic events each month throughout the year. They are great comersial partner, as far as i have read.

America + Prussia caught forever in a rad bromance. Is that unusual? Usually in fics I see them being rivals in awesome or not interacting with each other.

Why it works: They're so similar! They probably have a similar taste in movies and video games. Prussia wouldn't want to spend all his time in his brother's basement anyway.

Why it doesn't work: A lot of their interactions would be based on a headcanon of them being able to have conversations that go deeper than "We're both awesome!". Also, the way I view it involves them saying or doing a lot of "couple" things but without romantic or sexual intent behind it because they're bros, that's what bros do.

Denmark/America

They would be really close, but mostly have an insult based friendship, where they would just chide each other all the time (probably along with Prussia). That and probably go out drinking and complain about their families, America going on about England and Denmark going on about his brothers. In my mind it could go further into lovers, but they'd have to be really drunk first.

Maybe they'd just end up being "friends with benefits".

Cuba/Belarus. This fic in the kinkmeme made it work beautifully for me. He's a ladies' man, and has the warm but strong personality that would be good for her.

That same fic made me think that Prussia/Vietnam is a wonderufl pairing. That's the kind of strong warrior woman in our actual time that Prussia likes, judging by when he liked Hungary when she was a strong warrior.
Russia/Vietnam is also absurdly rare

A lot of charm has Spain/Russia. I am actually surprised that this pairing is so rare, because they have common history, and they're in the same continent and contemporarie,s if nothing else. This year is Russia's Year in Spain, too!
Other Spain rarepairings I'd love to see? Spain/Turkey, which is historical piracy for control of the Mediterranean; Spain/Greece and Spain/Egypt have potential too.

In as rare as France pairing are -not much-, I've never seen France/Australia. And not only is it hot, but it could work; the guy has enough enthusiasm and exotism to interest such a sex gourmet as France, and would also be the most unfrazzled, should he be discarded after. In my mind, Australia is one of the msot easy-going and laid-back characters.

And why is older!Sealand/America so rare? It has everything!

But... Latvia/Austria?
I guess Latvia would admire Austria, which turns into romantic emotions, but Austria would see him as nothing else than a brat. Then Latvia would get sad when getting rejected and cry in his brother's arms... ;w;

The wierdest pairing I ship is Sealand/Russia's son. Sealand gets into a lot of trouble XD It strangely works though.
