[Fic] Two little drabbles for the Women's World Cup

Warnings: Italy's language at parts, a bit rushed
Summary: Thoughts on yesterday's match for third place and today's upcoming final match. In the first one, Germany congratulates Sweden. In the second one, Germany and Italy share a moment with Japan before her big game.

Sinsheim, July 16 2011
The game for third place was over. Sweden had succeeded in beating France, her players celebrating in euphoria while the French team sat on the grass, devastated from the loss because they were so near and yet they had to go home without a medal.
The Swedish walked upwards through the ranks were they would receive their medals, earning praise and congratulations for their work from Sepp Blatter, president of the FIFA as well as the DFB’s president Theo Zwanziger along with Steffi Jones, chief of the organization commitee, and - of course - the country herself. Germany shook each of the players hands, thanking them for bringing joy to everyone with their playing.
The last to walk up was Sweden. “Congratulations,” Germany said with a smile, shaking the taller woman’s hand.
Sweden nodded courtly. “Thank you. All the support your people gave me did a great part to boost my girls’ motivation,” she said with her quiet voice.
Germany blushed a bit. “W-well… your team is playing good, so of course my people would acknowledge that - they know how to appreciate a good football match!,” she tried to reason.
Sweden only chuckled. She leant down to whisper in the fellow nation’s ear: “You know… you’d look really cute wearing my colours.” After that, she walked away, following her team and left a very flustered, very blushing Germany behind.

Frankfurt/Main, July 17 2011
Germany was now in Frankfurt for the final match, walking along the Main river with Japan, who would be competing against America tonight, and Italy. It was the early afternoon with the weather cloudy but still nice and the three of them were just talking like they often did when they had time together. And of course, the topic would also turn to the upcoming final.
“I’m sure you can kick America’s ass!,” Italy bubbled out, voice full of confident for her friend's victory.
“I agree with her,” Germany said, “you’ve played fantastic so far, and after all, you were the ones to beat my girls.” She scratched the back of her head, laughing nervously. “Though I, as the host shouldn’t pick sides… I still have faith in you.”
“Thank you, both of you,” Japan replied, blushing slightly, “I intend to win, of course. I won’t dissapoint neither my people, nor all the support I gained from you.” While saying the last part, she looked at Germany.
“But make sure you don’t win too highly, or the others will suspect something!,” Italy remarked with a smirk, “the referee is German, after all. Though the same also applies for America, I guess.”
“I-Italy! Don’t say things like that!,” Germany shouted with a furious blush, but Italy only laughed, while Japan chuckled.
She would give it her all tonight. She would march onto the field with confidence and determination, with her people supporting her, and also to thank Germany and everyone else who helped and supported her when she needed it after all the things that had happened to her. She would win.

Notes:
-The thing about Sweden thinking Germany would look good in her colours is inspired from what one of the Swedish players once said in an interview earlier in the tournament. She was surprised about how many German fans wore the Swedish uniform, and that it looked good on them or something like that, I can't really remember everything sadly orz
-Both the Swedish and Japanese teams seem to be really popular here in Germany (at least from what I've heard) so they also have supporters among the German fans.
I'm really excited for the final match tonight!

Italy's just utterly adorable with her little quip about rigging the game - and that smirk! I love Japan's determination, too, and just all around the friendship oof these three girls.

Ich war zwar auch mehr für Frankreich, aber mir hat es einfach so gut gefallen, dass so viele Deutsche auch noch andere Teams haben, die sie so unterstützen, also habe ich das eingebaut (und das schwedische Team war eben das, von dem ich es auf jeden Fall wusste). Oh, das hab ich gar nicht gesehen... aber dann passt die Szene ja umso besser xD

Ja, das fand ich auch schön, dass die Deutschen andere Teams unterstützt haben. Nach dem Ausscheiden der deutschen Mädels hatte ich befürchtet, dass das Interesse schlagartig nachlassen würde. Zum Glück war das nicht der Fall. Gerade Schweden und die USA haben ja richtig viele Leute begeistern können.
