APH Volume 3 still to be sold in the UK?
I just received an email from Amazon telling me that "customers who have purchased or rated books by Hidekaz Himaruya might like to know that Hetalia Axis Powers Volume 3 will be released on 7 June 2011". Having looked at the website, there is the option to pre-order Vol 3 from the UK website, but not the American one. Is it possible that Tokyopop will still be releasing Volume 3 in the UK, or am I just getting my hopes up for nothing?
(Mods, I wasn't sure which tags to use. Apologies in advance.)

They'd mentioned in the same announcement that their video licensing would stay in business in North America and that their publishing houses outside of North America would remain open

So well, the situation in the UK is very unclear to me. Is the version sold in the UK the same as in the US? If so, I don't have much hope for you guys. Because I don't think they'd produce it on their own and leaving out the big market in the States.
(Unfortunately, Tokyopop Germany still kind of refuses to publish Hetalia. Not suited for the German market, hm.)

At least there may be still a way to get an english edition. Good news, for once. For those of us in North America, with both TokyoPop AND Borders closing it was a large blow. Since since Borders provided a larger selection (and some may argue a better selection, since they also updated faster) than B&N.
I live right by Borders Headquarters and they've even closed the stores around here. I don't believe they'll bounce back from this, but I haven't given up my spark of hope. As koosei said, Borders was very important to Tokyopop and its business, very vital, but even with a Borders comeback I do not believe Tokyopop will follow with opening N.A. publishing again. I look forward to APH getting picked up by someone else...really soon, hopefully.
But hey, then not all hope is lost for readers who only speak english. (': I'm happy to hear this.
Sorry, Amazon is trolling you.
It took the US and Canadian amazon websites forever to remove the release date info for Tokyopop's books, so I imagine that they haven't gotten to updating the UK site to reflect the company shutting down yet.
The best we can hope for is that the manga will be relicensed soon or it'll get licensed in Australia or Singapore.

Why did Tokyopop go out of business anyways? It's like the top manga company.

And the part that played the largest role in their downfall was their stupid decision to shift their focus from the publishing of big titles to the promotion of 'new 'talent'' - i.e. the painfully bad original English language 'manga' market. Or, rather than actual 'manga', the works of American cartoon artists tokenistically trying to get a bite in to the current fad by adding big eyes to their normal designs. On a whole this, unsurprisingly, went down like a lead baloon. It probably was about the worse business decision that TP ever made, and I cringe on their behalf.
