[Headcanon Discussion] Fashion

I haven't seen a headcanon discussion around here in a while, so here we go. What headcanon do you have about the nations and fashion? For example (and these are just some starters to get the ball rolling):
How do they dress on the weekend? What about formal occasions? What (if anything) do they wear to bed? Who is really invested in how they look and who could wear horrifically mismatched socks and really not care about it? Who is always up to date with trends? Who tries to be and fails? Do any of them have tattoos? What about piercings?

What about historical fashion trends? Did England grow his hair out and wear a peace sign in the 60s? Was Russia trying to grow a beard before Peter the Great made him shave it off?

Discuss~

I think Poland would set the trends, because he's fabulous like that.
As for tattoos, I can see England having a flying mint bunny tattoo on his butt (My guess he would've got one from drinking too much one night out at a pub) and China has a full-scale Chinese dragon tattoo on his back.
I also think America would've had the duck tail/Elvis hairstyle in the 50's.

[identity profile] lokichan2004.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Omg, your England headcanon is now mine. XD

[identity profile] 8bit-oj.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
When I think of America's fashion sense and the way he dresses, I think CASUAL. On the weekends you'd be lucky to get him out of his (rocket-ship-patterned) pajamas, unless he's going somewhere. If he goes somewhere he just throws on jeans and a t shirt, maybe adds a sweatshirt in the fall and spring (we all know he doesn't leave the house in winter XD). I think when he needs to go to work/everyday business, he wears just a plain old suit and tie (not bowtie, the regular tie...is there a name for those?) in a nice neutral blue or black. The tie would have silly patterns depending on exactly HOW formal he has to be; if it's very formal it'll just be a bright solid color. America doesn't strike me as the type to have piercings or tattoos.

I think England tends to wear button-down shirts and slacks even on his most casual days. He dresses very nice on formal occasions, too. I think it's safe to say that when he said "my tattoo hurts" in his marukaite chikyuu that he's telling the truth; he got drunk once and got a guitar on his thigh or something. And of course he has at least one ear piercing, it was what EVERY pirate did. He hasn't worn jewellery at all in years, though, and has no desire to thank you very much XD

Canada is EVEN MORE casual than America. Don't ask me how that's possible, it just is. He has a hoodie that might as well be part of his skin.

France, Italy and Poland are all fashion buddies. Always looking snazzy no matter the occasion. They all team up to dress the others sometimes too, like Germany and Lithuania, who they feel have boring senses of style.

[identity profile] dicloniuslilium.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed.

And I think it's just called "A Tie".

Idk what others think, but I like to imagine Germany in a dress shirt with 3/4th sleeves, tie or suspenders and bermuda shorts (something like the pic). With sunglasses. I think he'd look....wow...imagine those muscular calves flashed from the bermudas and the general class of the dress shirt AT THE SAME TIME *eyegasm*

Was Russia trying to grow a beard before Peter the Great made him shave it off?

Definitely. He was a teenager right in the middle of his growth spurt and wanted to look more mature and be taken seriously. Having to shave it was a huge blow to him. *nods*

Romano doesn't pay attention to trends, but he does like to look nice. His clothes are always a size too big for him because he absolutely hates wearing clothes that aren't nice and loose. He has a pair of designer glasses and this really expensive fedora that he absolutely loves, but he's constantly being told to take them off, which annoys him to no end. He constantly bugged Spain to see if he could get his ears pierced when he was little, but he never seems to have done so.

Italy shares his brother's dislike of tight clothing, but he actually does pay attention to trends and such. He's always incredibly well-dressed as a result. Sometimes he wears women's clothing, but in a subtle kind of way. Like, he never wears skirts or incredibly girly things, but if you look closely you'll notice that sometimes his clothes don't fit him quite right, or you'll remember that you've seen that outfit on display in a store clearly for women, but he manages to pull it off fairly well.

Spain himself doesn't really care, but the Italies and France drag him out shopping on occasion so he has a really nice wardrobe. Since he doesn't pay attention and just throws his clothes on in the morning though, it normally ends up being terribly mis-matched. If he was allowed to shop on his own, his clothes would all be in very bright colours and patterns. He has ear piercings, but he has forgotten that they exist. As an added note, he rarely ever wears a shirt around the house. It drives Romano crazy.

Poland obviously wears the most up-to-date teen girls fashion most of the time. If he's working outside, which he does a lot in the summer time, he'll wear a pair of relatively old jeans and a t-shirt that he never wears anymore. If it's a formal occasion, he'll ask if he can wear a dress. If he's allowed, you bet that it'll make everybody else pale in comparison. If he's not, he'll still dress incredibly well, but he just doesn't like it as much as wearing a dress.

I think England lives in a suit. Except when he's drunk, he probably wears nothing - I think he wears that apron thing under his clothes.

I think Poland would probably be very trendy, and would probably despair at Liet's very select wardrobe of comfy looking- jumpers.

I think France wears nothing at all is also very trendy. Just, you know, manlier than Po-chan. Ditto with the ItaBros.

[identity profile] idraax.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Switzerland would wear whatever Lichtenstein gave him.

Ever since the Counting Sheep CD's came out I'm convinced Russia wears long nightgowns to bed. They're just so warm and comfortable~ ^J^

I'm stealing this head canon from other people, but America, France, and Russia all own at least one tracksuit. They only bring them out when they're with each other.

England got quite a few piercings and tattoos during the 80's. He only kept a select few.

This probably a cliche by now, but Russia was a total Europe fanboy during the 1700's. However, he still thinks the outfits France put together for him consisted of waaaay too many frills.

About a year ago America attempted to go through a hipster phase. It didn't last since a part of him basically lives off all that is mainstream.

(I had way to much fun with this)

Germany and England I see as preferring to be smart where possible; suits, smart/casual, sweater-vests and the like. I suspect they do have a casual wardrobe, not sure how it'd look though. I kind of see jeans as a must for them both.

Poland=fabulous. nuff said.

Japan would probably dabble in the trends his young'uns sets; it's the otaku in him! I can see him trying visual kei and so on when he's not going to be visited by fellow nations. The rest of the time I always envision both he and China being quite traditional in their dress sense.

Not sure about the others, however my biggest headcanon is probably for N. Italy (of course). Beware ze wall o' text afoot! (pretty much copy pasta'd from something I wrote on dA):

By the by I love to imagine Feliciano in random clothes that look like he went and raided a pirates' closet or something. Sure Italy's famous for it's fashion but I see Romano being the fashionista who only wears Prada (moreso than Feli anyways). Feli I see kind of not caring too much about clothes sometimes (they'll only get covered in paint/pasta sauce/etc anyway!)

Seeing as he lived with frugal Austria as a kid, then spent so much time around practical minded Germany and sensible Japan, I can see him wearing things he's comfortable in and repairing/wearing those things to death. I also imagine he's one of those people who likes to nick others' clothes (eg. borrow Germany's/America's/anyone's! jacket or his brother's jeans for the hell of it).

Another thing (GerIta bias... sorry! ignore this if you don't like it!)is regarding the tomato ring Germany tried to give him. I can't quite remember what exactly happened at the end of Buon San Valentino, and right now I'm too lazy to look OTL, however if Germany didn't take the ring with him i always imagine that after the fiasco Italy perhaps kept the ring, or found it or something? And decided to keep it, maybe wearing it occasionally as a necklace as he's kind of naive and wouldn't think about it too much. After all I just can't see Feli rejecting something given to him by someone dear to him (save food!).

Hmm, clothes? Let's see...

[identity profile] animedutchess.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Germany always wears a tight-fitting muscle t-shirt or one of his tank tops underneath his clothes, always - but the only time you see it is when he's doing things around the house/sleeping or he's really hot and he doesn't necessarily have to keep all his clothes on. If he ever has to leave the house, he'll throw on a button-down shirt with a collar. He also doesn't like jeans - he prefers khaki or some other material in beiges or greens, or plain black slacks. He doesn't necessarily keep up with trends or anything, he just has sort of a classic, nice look. He also has two suits that he keeps startched and cleaned an ironed at all times - to an obsessive degree. He owns a couple different pairs of boots (combat, rain boots, snow boots) and a pair of nice dress shoes that he shines before and after he's worn them. He wears shorts if it's hot enough, but he doesn't particularly like them.

Prussia just wears whatever outrageous thing he can find - he doesn't worry about trends or looking professional (unless he absolutely, positively MUST, and then he cleans up well - he owns only one suit). He's the kind of guy who has only like, two pairs of jeans, all torn up and covered in paint and grass stains and who knows what else, and he wears one pair for a week before washing them - any longer and Germany would come after him, he knows, he's tried it. He has fifty billion different kinds of shirts, mostly tees with sarcastic sayings and band logos and cartoon/video game characters on them. He has a couple pairs of boots and Converses in like, almost every color, and they're all scribbled on in Sharpies and some of them are literally falling apart but he can't bear to part with them.

Italy likes to keep up with trends, and he always has a couple sets of really nice clothes of whatever's fashionable for that season - if he particularly likes certain pieces of a set, he keeps them to wear beyond the season, but anything else he donates because he'd rather the clothes not go to waste, and it's what sounds best to his little Catholic heart. He often takes Germany's tank tops and tees for himself for months on end, to wear around the house when he absolutely has to keep something on for siesta - usually when it's cold. But whenever he's making art or gardening or cleaning, he puts on a huge white t-shirt (he pratically swims in it) and these old, paint-covered overalls and just goes and does stuff. He just loves having all kinds of outfits. He tries to keep them all clean, which is a challenge - half the time his more casual stuff has some sauce or coffee stains he's tried desperately to get out.

Romano's a bit different. Whenever he goes out, on a date or just down to the store to get something, he always dresses nicely - he wants to make a good impression. When he's home, he kind of forgets that he's in nice clothes and just lounges around in them, so he ends up spending a lot of time ironing them back to niceness. If he's with Spain or his brother, he is always dressed casually because he doesn't care how he looks in front of people who care about him the most he doesn't need to impress. He's got a t-shirt and overalls too, but they're for farmwork, if he has to do any. He has several suits, and he keeps all his clothes very clean.

Japan usually wears more traditional Japanese clothes - kimono and yukata and whatever else I know I'm missing. Staying in, going out into town, it doesn't matter. If he's got official work or a meeting or an outing with one of the Western Nations though, he wears a suit, or at least Western-style clothes. If he's feeling up for some otaku adventures, he throws on one of his numerous anime t-shirts that he will never admit he has a collection of, and some jeans and just lets himself have fun in Akihabara and stuff. He also has a zillion cosplay outfits he makes himself, for fun.

Hi I know you.

LOL oh boy let's see.

Well my personal headcanon for England is that he's an old man in a young body (I love him, really lol). He rode the fashion train for a long time and then once present day hit, he just kind of said "fuck it" and has worn boring slacks and sweater-vests with checkered socks ever since. He has a "Dumbledore Lives" t-shirt tucked away and only wears it when he does a Harry Potter movie marathon. Gotta show his support!

He also has old t-shirts and pants back from his punk days but sadly those leather pants don't fit him very well anymore since he's put on a little weight (that he denies). For formal occasions, he has some nice suits but they aren't designer brands. He's pretty cheap.

Oh yeah, and he wears Union Jack boxers whenever he can under his clothes.

8D The end. lol

Lithuania has little to no fashion sense and a (not so) secret obsession with plaid pants. If he's left to his own devices, he looks like a thrift store threw up on him and tossed him into a pile of fabric. The only reason he looks even remotely presentable in public is because Poland lays his clothes out for him every night.

and Poland is TOTES FAB 4EVA.

Everyone:
I imagine everyone at world meetings wear suits/formal wear (except for Sealand), but when the countries are involved in a war, they wear their military uniforms (like with the Allies/Axis).

England:
I like to think he wears stuffy suits/sweaters/sweater vests/ties, the same kind of dress sense that looks like how middle-class men dressed in the 1940s. But I think if he is just hanging around the house he’ll wear something a little more comfortable, like shirts/T-shirts. Like someone else has mentioned, I think he also had his ear pieced in the past (but the hole has healed up by now) and I like the idea that England has a tattoo from the result of a drunken night out, maybe of a loin. When England is away on holiday, he’ll wear the traditional footwear of sandals with socks. And agreed to that England has British flag boxers! xD

America:
He is a comfy wearer, the kind that’ll wear hoodies/jackets/baggy T-shirts/comfy pants/jeans/baggy shorts. He’ll also wear baseball caps/woolly caps and will often wear trainers for pretty much most of the year (with the occasional sandals when in the summer/on the beach). He also tends to wear his jeans/pants low so that his underpants can be seen, much to the annoyance of England. I also like to think he has American flag boxers and some Superman PJs, as well as those bear PJs that Himaruya drew him in. But he’ll wear the odd formal suit when he is forced into wearing one by his boss/England, mostly for meetings.

Austria:
Pretty much in the similar style to England’s, but he also sometimes wears a Steireranzug.

Hungary:
I imagine she tends to wear girly clothes. Nothing too girly though, like what Liechtenstein would wear, but defiantly clothes obviously for females. But I don’t think she would wear skirts/dresses ALL the time, I can see her wearing pants, especially when she’s having a lazy day or doing chores or playing sports, because she finds them more comfortable than skirts. I can see her becoming self-conscious about wearing short skirts because she’ll be worried about risking flashing anyone if she were to do something active/sporty. So I can see her preferably wearing skirts that are a little longer.

Russia:
He’s got a really bad fashion sense; he tends to mis-match colours and picks out the worse kinds of clothes to wear. So Ukraine is the one that tends to do his clothes shopping, which Russia is perfectly happy with.

[identity profile] chiiko-chan.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I am firm in the belief that England is a walking old man and nothing will ever stop me 8| His fashion sense is very Mister Rogers at times. Sweaters, slacks, sweatervests, button down shirts. I think he definitely had his phases of punk and all that jazz, but he's more of an old man than anything else 8U Portugal is the same way.

Spain doesn't care. Period. Despite Romano's loud insisting, he would rather laze around barefoot and in threadbare old clothes than in fancy things. This is sort of a whole look at me, I've changed a lot type thing too; I imagine when he was younger, he liked bright, flashy, LOOK HOW POWERFUL AND RICH I AM clothes. But now that he's been through that phase, he is a chill, chill guy. -v-

Alfred is your typical t-shirt-and-levis picture of an American. When he has to dress up though, he looks to Matt to help him with it.

And Francis and Feliciano are the most fashionable of all of them. (Except maybe Poland.)

[identity profile] dicloniuslilium.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it would follow the situation and the time period, although they will have their moments when it crosses their mind to try something new. Crossdressing for some, Wearing a tuxedo t-shirt for others.

However, all of them have something they won't wear. America will never wear black ties outside of a funeral (To the vexation of his Nowruz celebrating allies who GIVE him the damn things.) Seychelles won't wear foot-covering shoes. Canada's hoodies are red and blue only. France won't dress like America.

America and Canada love flannel too.

Ukraine has hell to dress because of the limited outfits for the busty that don't carry horrible connotations.

Stuff like that.

[identity profile] kecen.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Well have at it, I think fem!China was into the fashion of early 20th Century Shanghai (me looking at stills from Lust, Caution), although I imagine either version would be very traditional about clothing. The qipao most people are familiar with was first released in the 1920's. Gimme Yao in a cloche cap.

Towards the middle of the century Yao had to start dressing Western in order to look more powerful in the eyes of the western nations. Or maybe a creepy boyfriend (Japan and/or England are likely candidates) forced him/her to dress up pretty.

Yao used to dress so lavishly in his imperial days, since his leaders dressed him up. Nowadays, Yao wears whatever is comfortable. *cough*wifebeater shirt*cough*

Taiwan is super fashionable. I don't think most fanart addresses that she's a fashionista; I can't imagine her going around in the red qipao all day every day. I think she likes colors like pastel orange and pastel green (you get the idea). I can imagine her liking Hello Kitty accessories and such. Maybe short shorts with long socks? Designer handbags?

Japan is an old fart and usually wears a simple kimono. Oh, earlier last century he had that "charming prince charming in a uniform" look, but no. In his youth he might have worn his hair in a ponytail (can't imagine him in tonsure) or that boys hairstyle that resembled pigtails (imagine how cute it must have been!). His early outfits, by the words of a doujinshi I own, "resembled a gunnysack". I think from the Meiji Era onwards, he always wears Western suits when dealing with the Western countries. He wears traditional underwear, always.

Russia loves ugly/tacky Christmas sweaters (or should that be ugly sweaters in general?). Especially ones with argyle patterns. They remind him of his Mama (whoever that is) or his sisters lovingly knitting each one. Keeps him nice and warm (`~`

America is serially unhip in matters of fashion.

[identity profile] twyxted-mind.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I think everyone said pretty much everything that needed to be said about America, England, France, Japan, Poland, and the Itabros, but I'll try to throw something in, anyways.

Canada: Tends to go for semi-casual most of the time, (to differentiate from America, aka Mr. T-Shirs and Jeans himself) but if he doesn't think he's going to do much that day, he'll wear something a bit more slouchy. That being said, in the winter months, he'll always dress in layers, which is fine in colder climates - but not so much when he's at a meeting in a warmer country.

Ukraine: She isn't particularly interested in fashion and prefers to wear more practical clothes at all times; when she does need to go with something more formal, though, you better believe she can pull it off. And she always has to buy her tops at least 1-2 sizes larger in order to be comfortable in them.

Australia: Prefers shorts/short sleeves, but likes his clothes to be durable. Doesn't really care too much about how messy/torn up his clothes get.

Belarus: Obviously prefers traditional, formal styles. Unlike her sister, she's actually very concerned about fashion and appearance, and even keeps track of the latest fashions. (In an attempt to impress Russia, of course.) Also, pretty much all of her clothes have multiple hidden pockets swen into them - they all have knives and various other weapons in them, of course.

Switzerland: While he does keep an eye on trends, because he's frugal, he prefers to stick with the clothes he has and won't go shopping for new ones unless it's absolutely neccessary. He will also never, ever refuse a gift of clothes, even if it's from Austria. (How else do you explain that camoflage suit from the first episode? It was a gift from America, obviously. XD)

And that's all I got. ^_^;

[identity profile] animehedonist.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to agree with most of yours but especially Belarus.

[identity profile] animehedonist.livejournal.com 2011-03-23 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
France is very choosy about his clothes, he does follow the trends but only if their flattering on him. He has a lot of pieces that are classic in his wardrobe that look good no matter the trends because they fit well. But sometimes he does go all out for the trends just to see how ridiculous they are and have a laugh. And France sleeps naked unless it's cold then he has very nice sets of pjs in varying colors and patterns. No piercings or tattoos.

America most of the time wears comfy clothes he has a few favourite t-shirts that he wears fairly often (Superman, Captain America, and a few others) at home, he tries to keep his socks but sometimes they end up mismatched anyway. Most of the time he wears those pairs at home. He doesn't feel the most comfortable in suits and he lives in his bomber jacket. America picks and chooses the trends he follows if their comfortable. It depends on the season for what he wears to bed and the weather, if it's cold he wears those bear pjs Hmaruya drew him in or other cute but warm ones if it's hot he sleeps in his boxers or just pj bottoms. No tattoos or piercings

England depends on the mood he's in or what he's doing. He tends to wear sweatervests though and older 40's style suits (much to France's despair and amusement) Actually he really doesn't like clothes shopping much (prefers shopping for food) so a lot of his clothes are probably fairly old though his clothes are in good shape(magic?)
It depends on the state England was in before he went to sleep as for what he wears to bed. If he was drunk he's usually either naked, in an apron for some reason or in his boxers. Otherwise He flits between those old sleeping gowns and comfy striped pjs and warm socks. He has a tattoo of either a guitar on his hip, roses, or an old shield and sword. And he used to have a few peircings as a pirate that have closed up though he briefly ha a few redone in the 80's. In short he used to be fashionable and once in a while tunes back in on the trends if he likes them or it suits his lifestyle at that time.

Germany wears very practical clothes, clothes that you can dress up or down very easily and is very picky about the construction and fit of them. He doesn't wear jeans often unless they are a dark wash an are cut an fit like other trousers. Though Germany also has in the back of his closet (behind a hidden wall no less to keep from Prussia's prying eyes (Prussia already figured it out anyway) some outfits he saves for other occasions or events. Germany wears an undershirt and boxers to bed. No tats no piercings.

Spain doesn't follow trends and lets France and Romano pick out clothes for him because on his own he picks out the loudest and strangest prints out there and tends to get weird looks. He doesn't care but he likes it when Romano cares and France He used to have a piercing on his ear but he's let that grow in a long time ago. Spain can sleep in anything, but he usually prefers a light pair of pjs.

Romano is a very sharp dresser, he dresses well because he wants to look good. He doesn't follow the trends unless they are things he likes and he wears what he wants anyway because he knows at least his clothes look good. He sleeps naked. No tat's no piercings.

Prussia when he puts the effort can be a trendsetter he likes good patterns and looks at the fit of clothes. When he puts the effort, otherwise he has a quirky style oddly patterned t-shirts funky shoes a t-shirt with an odd neck he usually keeps it limited to one piece per outfit. Prussia does like his hoodies though and his favourite is the one he wore with his Halloween outfit (the black one with the horns tail and buttons) He swaps out the buttons a lot. No piercings though he's been tempted, no tattoos though he's been tossing around getting either black wings on his shoulders or a shield on his back.

I failed.

You know, I put so much thought into headcanons when it doesn't matter. Then when I see a discussion about them, I either have a splitting headache causing me to not be able to explain myself properly, or can't think of them period. Oh well. Life goes on.

America - Typical clothes for an average American, jeans, t-shits, hoodies, gym shoes, etc. However, they're not beat up at all. He likes to look somewhat presentable. He just sleeps in his American flag/superhero boxers. His bed sheets have hamburgers on them. He doesn’t strike me as a tattoo/piercing guy.

England - He obviously likes sweater vests, however I can also imagine him wearing khakis and button up shirts from time to time. All he has is his guitar tattoo and a few closed up piercings.

Liechtenstein - She likes to wear fitted (but not too tight) t-shirts and depending on the weather, jeans or jean shorts. She also likes sparkly flip-flops and nail polish. She has her ears pierced and likes to wear cute earrings.

Switzerland - I don't even know why, but I always imagined that he likes to wear striped polo shirts, jeans, and converse. He'll also wear a hoodie from time to time. Also, he has boxers with guns on them. So hardcore. If anything, he has a small tattoo of a cross on his wrist that he did himself to save a few bucks.

Poland - He dresses fabulously. However, sometimes he wears socks with sandals. He thinks tattoos are icky, but he would consider getting his ears pierced so he can wear like, totally cool earrings.

Spain - He's one of those guys who wears those t-shirts that make you wonder why a man in his 20's is wearing them. That's the best I can explain what kind of shirts I'm thinking of. He likes to wear shorts. No tattoos but a few piercings that, like England, have closed up.

Prussia - I can imagine him wearing t-shirts from Hot Topic. He also has a thing for boots. No piercings but a tattoo on his back of the Prussian eagle.

Austria - He's a classy guy. He likes to wear outfits such as a white dress shirt, black tie, black jacket, and dark jeans/pants. He'll wear the dark jeans when he wants to be comfy. He wouldn’t think of mutilating his body with tattoos or piercings.

Canada – He strikes me as a guy who wears turtlenecks during the winter. He’s too scared to get one, but he wants a tattoo of a maple leaf on his ankle.

Also, SEALAND LIKES TO WEAR POWER RANGERS THEMED CLOTHING. INCLUDING A RED RANGER MASK. IN PUBLIC. He always has a myriad of washable tattoos ranging from bumble bees to skulls (oh lord I used to love those when I was a kid).

I feel so bad about not thinking these over as much as I should. I have Hetalia Sims…so what they wear in my game totally influenced my headcanons. It’s really bad.

/IS FASHIONABLY LATE TO THIS POST (pun intended)

All nations have some sort of traditional clothing in their wardrobe.

Canada likes flannel shirts and jeans. He believes in comfort first and not following trends.

America likes graphic tee-shirts that have stupid but funny sayings. He also likes wearing shirts with old school bands and singers he likes.

France wears dressy clothing everywhere and is the epitome of all high end fashion. Italy, like France, also wears dressy clothing everywhere. Unlike France, Italy isn't at all anal about spilling things all over his clothes. France likes wearing boots and loafers. Italy usually wears converse, which tends to look odd with the nice clothing he wears.

Belgium likes wearing baggy cargo pants with form-fitting shirts. On special occasions, she'll wear a cute pencil skirt with a pair of impossibly high pumps and a white shirt. She doesn't wear makeup on a daily basis and doesn't really like jewelery because she'll take it off and forget about it after setting it down.

The Netherlands, no matter the weather, always wears some kind of scarf.

Poland has a knack for creating fashion trends but likes to design upcoming trends rather than actually wear the popular stuff. He likes bright colors, weird patterns and glitter, although not in the same outfit. Lithuania hates when Poland wears flashy stuff and Poland reluctantly listens to Lithuania.

I just wanna say that Russia probably wears very girly things...

In a more modest sense than France and Poland would

but RIBBONS. PINK. FRILLS. SHINY THINGS

This c:

I have no idea why, but I think ever since seeing his most recent Halloween costume, I've decided Russia always tends toward the slightly girly. Then again, he did grow up around his two sisters.

I was actually doing sketches of them with their national fashions...

It's my head canon that when America goes out on the town, he goes all out on the expensive jeans, like Rock & Republic and True Religions. He pays a lot of attention to brand names. When around nations he's used to like England and Canada, he just wears a hoodie or a T-shirt.

The Italies and France are fairly fashion weary. France especially has his own set of Fashion police when other nations visit his house, and has refused entry to England several times just to make fun of his fashion sense.

I imagine Sweden really likes stripes and pin stripes and always wears a colorful scarf and secretly loves wearing tight pants.

Germany doesn't care that much, usually a dress shirt or a wife beater. He doesn't like colorful things though.

Korea loves wearing flashy jackets and tight jeans.

China always wears shirts with Chinglish on them.

Spain doesn't care about what he wears, and just throws on whatever is available.
