Cosplay assistance?

Hello everyone! (Mods, if this isn't allowed, please delete!) I'm wondering if I can have some cosplay assistance! I'm cosplaying as America for Anime Boston in a month, and I've never actually used a wig before for a cosplay. (I normally cosplay characters with my hair color.)

Can anyone guide me to a good source for wigs? I'm overwhelmed by the sheer number of wig websites online and I don't know much about wig quality. I'd like at least a decent one.

And if it helps, I live in the US, on the east coast.

Thank you in advance!

Question- do you actually live in Boston? Or at least have access to it?
I don't, but when I was America for Connecticon last year I remember getting my base wig from this one shop in the city, and I have to say I really like it!

It was my first time using a wig too haha, and now I feel naked cosplaying without one!

It was Dorothy's Boutique, which is right down the street from the Christian Science Center.
There was a guy there who was incredible about helping us find what we wanted. :3

I forget the name of the wig we ended up going with, but it has all of these natural-looking blond highlights and it's really soft and it washes out well.
It can't have been more then thirty-five dollars, but it's certainly worth it for all the use I've gotten! Besides, it's relatively average for wigs.

And you just trim it up until it looks the right length/style, then make the ahoge! Do you know how you're going to do that, yet?

Oh man, we had the same plan. Freaky. I miss all of the hair I cut to fit into my wig... (Growing it out now because I wanted to be Chibi Hungary for AB, but I doubt I'll have that costume by then so.)

I'd say that pre-styled wigs give me personally a weird feeling, I never feel like the ahoges will survive the shipping.

What you do for his ahoge is basically take a twist of hair from the front, separate it, coat it with mod podge, and clip it in place while it dries. :3 Works like a charm!

I didn't. ;o; I actually was doing CD America at the time. But I'm putting together the uniform bit by bit now. And I have a great bomber already, plus boots and khakis!

Well, I bought a Belarus wig from Cosworks (through cosplay.com) and they have a pretty good selection. The wig I bought was pretty good quality, so I'd recommend looking through their selection.

Hope it helps some. They ship anywhere, so it should work.

My friend is doing America and she brought her wig from milanoo.com

It arrived fairly fast and it was in good condition. The coloring is a bit odd (not to much where it can't be noticed as America though.) She liked the wig so much she even went forward and got his military outfit from them.

I have a really good America wig, bought it here: Amphigory (http://amphigory.com/wigs_fy_twiggy.html). Get in 24BT102. The wig looks nothing like in the picture! It looks more like this: Front (http://oi54.tinypic.com/29g1k5u.jpg) Side (http://oi52.tinypic.com/10r8mrd.jpg) ETC (http://oi52.tinypic.com/qn5u7r.jpg). The wig is easy to work with and easy to make a nantucket for. c:

I'll want to see pics of this once you're done!
