If the nations were mythological creatures, which ones would they be? Which ones do they most resemble in looks/culture? Weird question I know, but it's for a story I may or may not write in the future.

Well, it's technically a discussion xD So I think it'll be allowed?

Anyway, onto the matter. I've always pictured them to be this:
England: Pixie. But probably angel works as well. Being a Principality or Cherub, but his personality looks like Power, and probably a bit of Metatron. Eh. If Metatron, maybe America should be Sandalphon?
France: Veela No, it's not from Harry Potter
Russia: Rasputin Maybe a wizard like Baba Yaga? I don't really know about Russian myths...
Denmark: Troll/Thor
Iceland: Siegfreid
Norway: Valkryie
Finland: Freya Because he loves to fight and a waif to Su-san <3
Sweden: Thor
Netherlands: Captain of the Flying Dutchman, of course So Canada should be Calypso
Spain: Fiend Matador Bonus point who gets the references
Germany/Prussia: Werewolf
Hungary: Succubus
Austria: Incubus
Japan: Izanagi (but in order to work this perfectly, you need to have an Izanami somewhere)
China: Chinese vampire, of course. But if you're asking for animal, I'd recommend Kohryuu, with Hong Kong as Wei Long and Taiwan as..., I forgot, Huang Long? You know, those four dragons that guard the north-south-west-and-east. Maybe the Suzaku-Genbu-Byakko-Seiryuu formula work as well with the Asian Family, since it fits! Five people with Kohryuu! :D

There are still a bunch of other mythological creatures in my head, although I'm missing for the American brothers. Yes, it's not really correspondent with their respective culture, but hey, that are what enters my head :/

Russia: Demon (It fits his personality, plus Russian's are deeply religious and believe in demons)
France: Werewolf (First Werewolf sightings recorded in France)
England: Elf and/or Fairy maybe an Owlman
Italies: Vampires (Italy is said to be home to the oldest 'vampire' corpse ever found)
Spain: Minotaur (running of the bulls; etc. )
Germany/Prussia: demons and/or poltergeist(poltergeist is german literally meaning: noisy spirit) plus, if Germany is HRE and Prussia isn't a nation anymore, they are both technology dead.
America: Jersey Devil, Mothman, Bigfoot, Chupracabra
Egypt: a soilder of Anubus
Greece: a cat god
Canada: Threstle (invisibility)
China: Dragon
Japan: A demon of some kind. Maybe like the three-tailed beast from it's legends.

For England, I would say something along the lines of fairies, pixies, maybe even demons - because he does seem adament on summoning one, does he not? Also, I bet he'd look cute with wings and or fangs.

I'd make Big Brother France a werewolf, just because. The Italies would make interesting vampires, and for Hungary (due to some ... interesting fanart), I would say a succubus.

I definately think Norway should be a troll, and the other Nordics something from their mythology.

Oh, what about England being a Grigori, a fallen angel? Thought it would work well for his Brittania angel form xD
And maybe Canada or Romano could be a doppleganger? Even though it's German, but having Canada or Romano as a doppleganger would fit better for obvious reasons.

Sealand: Changeling (non-human humanoid child (fairy, elf, troll, etc.) substituted for a kidnapped human child)

Australia: Dirawong (goanna spirit)

Korea: Dokkaebi (grotesque, horned humanoids)

Prussia: Alp

Greece: Antaeus (a giant who was extremely strong as long as he remained in contact with the ground) or Centaur (human-horse hybrid)

Turkey: Karakura (male night demon)

America: Boo Hag (vampire-like creature that steals energy from sleeping victims)

China: Bai Ze (Talking beast which handed down knowledge on harmful spirits), Dilong (chthonic dragon), Diao Si Gui (hanged ghost), Er Gui (hungry ghost)

Denmark: Bokkenrijders (damned bandits)

The idea of England being a brownie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brownie_%28folklore%29) is pretty funny although I have no idea if they cook or not. (Brownies turn nasty when you insult them or their help.)

Poland gets referred to as a phoenix a lot because of his history despite it not being Polish.

For Lithuania, maybe something snake-related? Snakes feature a lot in Lithuanian mythology.

There was actual a fanart by an amazing artist a while back (forgot the artist's name, unofortunately) that showed America, Canada, and Russia as mythical beasts from each of their respective countries. It was amazing. I don't remember what Canada or Russia was, but America was an incubus (male form of sucubus). It was a very sexy/pretty picture.

Much as I approve of Hungary as a succubus as livina_eari suggested, I think she'd have to be a Turul (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turul). It's her national animal after all.

No no that's pretty neat. Personally I imagine a viking mermaid with a GIANT AX (or maybe something more practical?) taking down ships along with the other Nordics!
