It's a fancy way of saying 'I've heard and seen it go around, so I'll give it a try'!

Haha, don't worry! I'm up to date with the manga, if that's what you're asking. :)

I never even heard of it before when I started to read it, quiet honestly. When you google Sealand you have the few 'related searches' and then some few images/links that do not fit with the idea of a project, you get perplexed. ._.;

That is some dedication, I think. xD; I suppose I felt that it was going to end when I stopped reading it a year ago and I would just finish it up some other time, but I am guessing it is still going.

Oh, that sure is a way to get acquainted with something, haha.

It still is, which may or may not be fortunate. There are still loads of loose ends to tie up - it could still take a while. The latest arc is pretty cool! Check it out once you have the time. :)

Now I must continue to be bothersome and ask you if there are any particular writers/novels you like in horror-- simply because I am interested.

[identity profile] didgeridoodle.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at all! I'm very much interested in reading up Stephen King novels, though I've only read a couple as of this time. Poppy Z. Brite is a notable mention, too, once you get past the gore. Her descriptions are exquisite!

And I believe Max Brooks deserves a special mention, too! Simply because I am a big fan of zombies, haha.

I honestly only read Carrie by King. I suppose it partly depends on my will go grab one of his books from somewhere and the availability without me needing to buy it (I borrowed Carrie from my mother for a couple days.)

I like Cliver Barker and his short stories, seeing I rather like his detail.

Itou Junji is a manga dude, but I rather like his horror stuff. His art makes the story loads scarier than it could be, however that is a tangent.

[identity profile] didgeridoodle.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only seen the previews for Carrie, unfortunately. What's your opinion of it?

Believe me, I'm a downright sap for details and *~*beautiful*~* prose. I think he'd be a subject of interest for me.

Oh, what manga of his would you suggest? :)

Personally I prefer the book over the 1976 film. I suppose if one enjoys the twist of the pressures of high school life, it may be something to look into. There is the whole thing with prom and religion-- and, I am sorry to say, there are no zombies. The movie makes it a tad more flashier than the book does, trying to be more violent while the book uses details to describe the feelings on the inside (i.e,. the fate of Carrie's mother.) But I do believe it is well done being King's first book and such.

Tomie is a really good one, an earlier one (it even has a few movies after it). Throughout the story, you see his art improve. While it is not the best at the beginning, the drawings still manage to do their job of being rather creepy. I think most of it except for the last few chapters can be found online and I also believe that it is published and on sale in Museum of Terror's volume one and two. It is about a young woman who never seems to die despite being cut up and scattered.

There is also Gyo. I suppose it leans a bit more into zombies with fish being able to walk on land, or at least that is what the beginning of the plot first hints at before it makes a real development. The whole series can be found online. c:

Uzumaki is probably his most popular one with a curse of 'spiral' on this little town in Japan, also very easy to find online.

He has a few other small series, but I do not think any of them relate to zombies directly. But I am going to assume you like more than just zombies. :'D

AHHH, thank you so much for the recs. I'll be sure to look them up once I have the time!

Can I please add you? You seem like a cool person, haha. :)a

Okay, sure thing. C: Meaning you should give recommendations book-wise in a fair return. ;D

And that would be awesome, dude. c:

Haha, of course! You'll be the first to know once something sparks my interest.

Sweet! :)

Thank you. ;o; I will do the same for you if I happen to read anything else new (which I most certainly will, seeing I am currently taking a class on it.)

I have taken the liberty to adding you as well, so, yay~.
