Well this is going to be at the top of my head so I don't remember the details of time period but at one point Spain had control of Netherlands and Belgium.
Oh cool. I love Belgium, Spain and Romano together. Oh look, the side of Netherlands head. Hima-sensei's been drawing him a lot recently ... Not complaining, though.
I already suspected it with the volume 3 strips, but it now seems clear how Netherlands got his scar. I wish Himaruya would do a comic on it though, it must have been a traumatizing experience for him.
And Lithuania, I think you're cute, but why do you always look so much like a girl!XD
D'aw, it looks like Spain wants to be friends with grumpy Netherlands but it isn't working. XD And of course, Belgium tries her best to help while Romano just stands and laughs at Spain. I love those four so much!
I do wonder what reason Himatuya will give for Netherlands being so pissed at Spain. I doubt he'll mention the Inquisition torturing and murdering his citizens.
Hm, Lithuania looks like Belgium without the hair ribbon. He has a page-dog with him, too. Curious to know how this strip will be. Belgium gets a non-Christmas strip?
A sequel to the volume 3 Boss Spain? I'm looking forward to that! Shame those previews are scrapped versions of the strips though, I hope we still get to see it. It looks like he missed out on Romano's curl in one panel too. Lithuania's adorable, but I'm thinking these chibis must be for the artbook. He did that one of Greece, but Greece already has a profile. I'm a little disappointed he didn't draw Belarus and Ukraine in their military uniforms with the others, but hey. I can't wait to see the finished illustrations!
Someone clear me up please. I've read from the previous comment the historical relations between the Nations.
But in Hetalia canon, what is the relationship? All I know is that Netherlands doesn't like Spain very much. Spain is a little agitated that Netherlands doesnt like him very much. And in my personal opinion, Belgium looks like she's trying to appease both of them. Somebody please tell what's going on?
And for that matter, do we have a date on when these strips occured?
Here are some links to the comics that feature Netherlands and also make a reference to Spain. This is all we know about their historical relationship up till now:
It's not much, but I think we get the idea what's going on between them. Netherlands is fed up with Spain controlling him and is contemplating to rebel and will eventually beat him up (probably leading to the scar). The time frame for these comics must be around 1550 or so, before Netherlands started to revolt?
I have to say, I absolutely love the dynamic between these two and I hope it will get more attention in the future.
