[fic]The Captain, the Ship and the Sea

Written for an secret santa exchange at a Hetalia roleplay [livejournal.com profile] lolocracy, it just got too long to post there.
Request: Nordic 7 (comm-based)+Honorary member Raivis in Starfleet. Them as mortals is preferred but not necessary; making some of them aliens would be so much love.

Title: The Captain, the Ship and the Sea
Pairings: Norway/Denmark, Finland/Sweden, (side pairings:) Italy/Germany, Austria/Prussia+Hungary, S.Italy/Spain + some others that you could see as such if you wish or not, most notably USA/UK and France/Canada.
Characters: The above + Iceland, Estonia, Sealand, Latvia & Russia
Rating: PG13
Warnings: Off-screen war/violence, discussion of (alien) sexuality That might be kinda m-preg-ish, reference to slavery, crack, AU. Oh, and it's pretty long.
Summary: When Søren Nielsen is appointed as captain on USS Bifrost and asked to make a difficult decision, he thinks he knows the right thing to do. However, there is a thin line between not repeating past mistakes and letting them limit your life.

Notes: ...what can I even say? I loved the premise, maybe a bit too much, as is evidenced by the lenght (and it still doesn't explore the setting as much as I would have liked to). As I'm not perfectly familiar with the world of Star Trek (especially the series set in later times) and while I tried to research things, I apologise for any mistakes. I've also never really written technobabble before, so I hope it's even semi believable. :')

part 1/3
part 2/3
part: 3/3

Captain's log, supplemental, stardate 872437.3: Calling the ship 'this old wreck' got a notably chilly response from the crew. Clearly they can't take a joke.
