Discussion: Hetalia IRL

Posting a discussion for the first time ;^; PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't let this turn into a wank or I will cry D: *lays the guilt on thick*

So, does anyone else get a kick out of seeing politicians interact with each other? They may be extremely important figures, but they still have time to sing 'Blueberry Hill' (Putin), go out for fast food (Obama and Medvedev), and buddy it up (Berlusconi and Putin. Why is it always Putin? Putin, are you still working? /just kidding.) So, ever see a politician do something that resembles a Hetalia character? Share any and all (appropriate) thoughts 8D

(Mods, if you feel this isn't a safe topic, please delete. And everyone, please remember to be respectful! Big Brother is watching!)

Hetalia aside, I love watching politicians interacting. They are so WEIRD sometimes! But adding in Hetalia is just hilarious. I bet Alfred is right out there with Obama grabbing burgers, but could you imagine him and Ivan tagging along on that little burger run you linked?

What if the nations dont get along (since we all know they form their own opinions) but their bosses are BFF? I can imagine the Italy Bros having to make nice with Russia, lol.

That latest treaty between England and France was pretty amusing, because you can see the boys being all pissy about it.

Dont worry about the guilt, my first post became a wank war and I nearly did cry!!

Putin is a BAMF and dont you forget it!

There was actually a short fic that came out on the same day as that burger run with Afred and Ivan joining their bosses~

YES! I <3 that fic! oh Alfred...

Amen

No, cattie, I'm glad you brought it up! I'm not sure how much it does or does not get talked about here, but I know that I LOVE to watch the News with a Hetalia slant. I replace all public figures with their appropriate Nation-tans. XDD From Obama and Medvedev as Cold War Pairing, to congratulating Canada for hosting the G8 meeting last year, it's all Hetalia to me! <3

I have to say, when I saw that strip of the G8 of Italy saying, "Mr Obama" I went to look it up. Then read up on the President of Italy and laughed my head off. THAT GUY IS AMAZING! I mean, seriously, playing peek-a-boo with the Chancellor of Germany?! And then she turns and goes, "OH YOU!"

LIKE THAT'S JUST AWESOME!

I especially give thumbs up to the Queen of England telling the Italian President to shut up. :3

lol, is there an article/ video or something about that? I want looking on google but I could find anything. That's so cute and hilarious! It's so Italy and Germany.
I sometimes will search world news looking for things like that to relate to hetalia, or not, it's still cool to hear about whats going on. I read history books in the library during lunch for similar reasons. I didn't think I'd every be able to laugh at a history book. Suddenly their the most exiting things to read.
when ever I turn on the news before I go to school and the news people say "Good morning America!" I'm always like "Good morning America!" and then I imagine Alfred+ everyone else in the country doing the same thing.

Lol watching the news/politicians is always so funny and is a good excuse to ship countries xD;
I found it amusing when I heard that BP got Russia to sign a deal with them. Somehow I don't think America would be too happy about that xDD

[identity profile] neuronautica.livejournal.com 2011-01-15 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes. Especially with (MANRY) Putin. Between Medvedev and Putin, I can just imagine poor Ivan/Russia being so torn. XD

I do this all the time, particularly with one of my RP buddies. But then, we look at general international relations more than focusing on individual political figures. Individuals or groups come up sometimes, though--or things like "Robot Land". Or we can be talking about something without even meaning to relate it to Hetalia, pause, and declare that Hetalia ruins everything (not always with negative connotations--Denmark/Lithuania bromance, yo). Soccer tournaments also get this treatment.

I really need to look up some of the articles that have been brought up and look more into the politicians, looks like.

owait, did I just de-lurk? Back to the shadows! -scuttlesucrry-

I can't believe I will be the first one to bring it up, but when those pics of Obama 'fighting' with lightsabers reached us here in Spain, I thought: "Oh, you, Alfred :D" xDDDDDDDDD

Our politicians are boring as hell, but other countries have people with a great sense of humour in power.

Berlusconi is a legend because he manages to be much more cracky than the canon Hetalia characters for his country, lol. Putin is just...he's just Russia with A Level in Badass. xD

There is something totally amusing every time I picture any possible France-Sarkozy interaction. Merkel is SO TOTALLY Germany with a vagina that...really, picturing it is almost too easy. But considering she's from the East, she should be Prussia, and that's just...harder to imagine

If you want to discuss something lulzy and not have to worry about wank, you can always go to Captalia.

But yes, it's quite funny. Always fun to think how the nation-tans would react to various current events, whether they're serious or have truly Hetalia-worthy levels of silliness. I can really see Obama and America goofing around and having a good time together. Fills me with warm fuzzies at a time when I feel like nobody will give our President half a chance.
