Description: New headcanon for Holy Roman Empire and Prussia's interactions back when they were small.

Teutonic Knights!Prussia: Yes, this is a good land... and we will call it... MY LAND.
Holy Roman Empire: I think we should call it... A HOME FOR MY COLONISTS.
Teutonic Knights!Prussia: Ah! Curse your sudden but inevitable--wait, you know, actually, that could work.
(Dialogue lovingly mangled from Whedon's TV series Firefly)
You can blame this on my researching some of Prussia's history on Wikipedia.
It seems that during the 12th century the German pilgrins and crusaders in the Holy Land felt lonely there because everyone only spoke French and Latin, so during the Third Crusade some German merchants (I think this means "guys from the Holy Roman Empire") took it upon themselves to found a hospital there run by German-speaking Germans to cater to Germans, and this became the Teutonic (German) Knights. Later on, when the Knights "borrowed" places like Burzenland and Kulmerland to crusade against the pagans, Holy Roman Empire would immediately send a bunch of his people on the heels of the Teutonic Knights to go settle around them and colonize the territory. I'm guessing this must have been a good arrangement because Wiki doesn't mention much more about them, and the Knights could probably focus more on their fighting if they didn't have to do the farming for their upkeep as well, and Holy Roman Empire was apparently one of the only ones Prussia didn't fight with over: "I want to rule your land now!"
I'd been wondering ever since that image of Prussia and Holy Roman Empire together in Volume 3 what their relationship might be like... voila, new headcanon.

I'd thought the top image was too plain, so I was holding off on posting it until I had another fanart to put with it... but I guess I was wrong!I love Firefly, it's so full of great lines. And I'm glad you liked the history--I find all the little blurbs as much fun as the comics in Hetalia, so I tried to do my best with it.

XDDDDD Gilbo is always so smart! Uhm... awesome, yay! >o< I have always been wandering the meaning of that image, too! (but I'm very weak at history... lol!) Thanks for explaining it and for sharing! ^*^

I'm weak at history too... I recently ended up typing lists of notes on my computer from Wikipedia and such, since I kept needing to look stuff up over and over again to write fics, and I could never remember how or when such-and-such happened. (And that is precisely how the second picture came into being.) I remember stuff better after it's been Hetalia-fied--it's actually educational!
