Resource for Sweden/Finland Cosplayers

I found the perfect accessory for your cosplay that is cheap, adorable (AFFORDABLE) and perfectly shaped to ride without slipping on top of your head (Or hat):

It's actually much CUTER in person.  The picture does not do it justice.
The Perfect Hanatamago.
Total plus shipping in the US was $18.95 for me and I squeed when I opened her today.
PERFECT SIZE, perfect shape for your Hanatamago needs.

I thought I would share my luck in scoring this cutie-pie with others who are looking for the same thing.

I don't cosplay either of those two so I don't need it but that is absolutely adorable!

This makes me wish I'd gone ahead with that Finland cosplay I was going to do ages ago, just so I could buy that!! <3

The Classic TY Sweetpea plush looks like Hanatamago too. :3

Wow, that's pretty accurate. I'm a Sweden cosplayer (http://i1018.photobucket.com/albums/af308/eightyproofmonk/swedenme.jpg), but I'm not sure how well that would go with my rugged image. Tempting, however (and I could always just hand him to one of the legions of Finlands which I acquire somehow, for photos...).

Also, HI. I remember you from a billion years ago on gaia. (I didn't win your 'make an uke for my dude' contest.) It's a small internet.

But I'm underage and I can't order anything from other countries, bawww : <
And my parents wouldn't spend money on plushies... *cries*

Oh well. Thanks for sharing the link anyway!

Haha, I'm glad my antics at that panel entertained somebody other than me. XD He's fun to cosplay because as long as you're around other hetalia cosplayers who are interested in keeping in character, themselves, you have license to get away with so much murder, practically. Nobody will do anything to stop you (except maybe Denmark, who can TRY), and you really only have to listen to Finland. He meshes well with me because I'm a serious-appearing person who is actually not usually that serious, so "scary dude with hidden playful side" is kind of in the same ballpark, and I RP him (albeit in a really, really grim AU setting), so cosplaying is just kind of a natural extension of that. If only I were taller... Or uh, actually a dude.

I'm sorry to hear about the medical stuff. That's got to be rough to have to deal with on a "normal time" basis, much less all the chaos of a con. @___@ I'm going to guess (hope?) you're doing better now, since you don't have to take that anymore? Medication side effects are pretty scary stuff, IMO. My dad takes stuff for an irregular heartbeat that basically makes him really, really disoriented, so he can only take them before going to bed at night... When he first had that reaction (...after randomly deciding to take his pills in the middle of the day), we had no idea what was going on and thought he was having a stroke. Turned out not to be the case, but wow... With some medication it seems like the side effects it creates are worse than the symptoms it treats...

I logged into gaia a couple weeks ago so I could give my old junk to a friend who still uses the site and my stuff was all there (I haven't been there in probably as long as you haven't), but so is all the stuff I didn't care for before, and now there's MORE of it. Now you can have status updates and journals and pimp your car and and and. Ugh. I was more interested in discussing arty things than any of the whatever gizmos and fishing whosits they have on there. It reminded me why I lost interest in the site, heh.

That would be totally awesome of you. Thanks! :] (as far as that goes, we could do a trade, too! I've got art over at http://belligerent.deviantart.com but I need to update it and definitely need to draw more stuff to put up there...) I'll think about what I might like to see drawn and probably note it to you tomorrow afternoon, since it's past midnight here on the beast coast and I get up at 5 for work (and I'm too braindead to think in pictures right now, and barely can think in words... X_x;;).

Haha, hopefully I'll be able to go back to Yaoi Con next year. I'm on the east coast and it's at the end of the year, so I really have to plan out my leave days to make sure I've got ample time to cover that weekend. Last year, I used it as an excuse to visit my brother, too, who goes to school out there, but he's gradjimating and won't be a handy excuse unless he also goes there for grad school. I had a lot of fun, so I'm certainly planning on it, unless something major comes up to prevent me. SF is a really nice area; wish I could afford to live there!

I'll have Sweden cosplay with me and also probably Austria and Liet at that point. Sweden's actually my first cosplay (some friends got me into it at Otakon); ycon was the third time I'd done it. I don't really want to branch out TOO much because not many people cosplay him (often I'm the only one at shoots...), and apparently I do the character well, and he IS my favorite. So it's kind of a "if I don't do it, who's going to?" I may try to put together a more accurate coat, though. We'll see. Right now I'm working on an Austria jacket for Katsucon, and hopefully they won't revoke my sewing permit after this.

-------

All that medical stuff sounds insane, and I'm glad to hear you're on an upswing. My dad's mom had diabetes and it certainly didn't do her any favors (of course, she was also an alcoholic, which didn't do her diabetes any favors...), but she also didn't really attempt to manage it well or acknowledge that she couldn't eat and drink whatever she felt like, although it may have been a cultural/language thing, too (she was Lithuanian). It seems like a really hellish disease, in my limited, secondhand experience with it.

-------

I drew you a sexy pic of Berwald ( http://i1018.photobucket.com/albums/af308/eightyproofmonk/nicetie.jpg I'll put it on dA at some point; I'm happy with how it came out, since it's the best thing I've drawn in a while), but I'm still not sure what I want, heh, since I'm not used to people drawing stuff for me. @___@ I thiiink I'll ask you to draw my mafia AU RP version of Berwald (which is basically normal Berwald in a 3-piece suit [the waistcoat is the important part], with a jagged scar from a unsuccessful garrote assassination attempt encircling his throat/neck, and looking extra creepy because he's a lawyer).

MAYBE I can sew. I have a sewing machine and can get it to stitch things together, but actually cutting out patterns and fitting them, and coming up with things from scratch, etc, is a bit more...uh. Well, let's just say I don't have a lot of patience and rush things or omit steps I don't find interesting, which may turn out to bite me in the ass. I'm a procrastinator/perfectionist who likes instant gratification, which is probably a terrible combination. It doesn't help that I get distracted by other things. I have 40 days until Katsucon...and it seems like it was just yesterday that I had 90 days until Katsucon, so I need to sew like the wiiiind...

---

My dad's got "pre-diabetes," so hopefully it won't progress past that. And skips me and my brother, since it doesn't sound like a lot of fun. Hopefully you've got the complicated part past you now.

---

Haha, I'm glad you like it. I'm happy with how it came out; I think it captures, uhm, defiance, which is sexy on him. And it could have been Denmark (I ship him with Sweden, too, although I think SuFin is cuter and probably a much healthier relationship...). I think he could probably break loose if he had a mind to, so he's probably not as pissed as he looks, whoever did it. I like the idea of somebody tying him up with his own tie, though. Makes you wonder how they managed to do that without him noticing or fighting back.

The RPG is set in modern times, actually. The Nordic portion of the game isn't perhaps as much "mafia" as it is a corporation/monopoly with very questionable policies and contacts. Berwald is basically head legal adviser (and he has a lot of political contacts, too), since he's mostly retired from active courtroom appearances due to his throat injury leaving him a lot less eloquent than he used to be. He pulls strings and makes sure that if something the company does isn't exactly legal, the law is looking the other way. Usually I think of him as wearing a 3-button (since he's tall) suit, dark grey or sometimes black, with a vest and tie. If he doesn't have the jacket on, he usually has the sleeves rolled to the elbows. Sometimes he'll wear a dark grey trenchcoat over it, if it's cold or rainy.

That book sounds pretty amazing. Familiar, too. I think a friend of mine may have had it and scanned pages of a specific couple of things for me a loooong time ago.
