Jacksonville, FL Fans!!
This has been getting to me for a while now. I live in the very southeastern part of Georgia about 30 minutes from Jacksonville. I've been waiting and waiting but there have never been any events held in the area! All I ever see are meet ups for south Florida or north Georgia. Now, I know there have to be SOME Hetalia fans in the Jacksonville area! I mean, it's a pretty big city, but there wasn't even a Hetalia Day celebration there!
It would be awesome to meet new Hetalia fans that live near you right? So let's get to know each other! If there are any of you out there in Jacksonville/Yulee/Fernandina/etc., I want to organize a meet up, hopefully for January, but maybe not until February. We can set a proper date and time once I see if anyone is interested and we can collaborate on when will be best for everyone.
I would really like to hold our meet up at the Jacksonville zoo since it's divided by continents and it happens to be a pretty awesome zoo, but that might not be possible since it's not really fair to go somewhere where you have to pay to get in.
Some other options are a mall that everyone agrees on, The Landing, a museum (suggestions?), a park (again, suggestions?), and possibly a trip to World Market although I'm afraid with too many people we could end up breaking something. If you have another idea for a meet up place just tell me!
I guess just to get this out there even though we haven't settled anything yet, cosplay will definitely be allowed but NOT required. We may go somewhere to buy food or we may hold a potluck. We'll decide on that together. Invite as many of your friends as you like! This meet up is specifically so we can make new friends in our area!
Now if you're interested in this, leave a comment and bookmark this page because, rather than spam the comm with updates, I'm just going to edit this post. I may post one update about a week before the actual event just as a small reminder as well. Also, once we have some plans more set in stone, I'll make a Facebook event page that's easier to keep up with.
So just comment if you're interested! And if there really are no Hetalia fans in the Jacksonville area, then I guess my friends and I here in Georgia will just invade the place with our own meet up anyway. :)
Oh yeah and HAPPY 2011!!
EDIT: Okay so for right now, our date is January 29th, possibly meeting around noon to eat lunch together (so bring money for food or bring a sack lunch) and then hanging out until 5 maybe? Or just whenever everyone has to leave. If this is a bad date for anyone, let me know! Also, if we end up going to the zoo, I suggest we meet up earlier than noon since it is a really large zoo.
As for places:
#1 free choice is The Landing
#1 paid choice is the Jax Zoo
#2 choice is any indoor mall. I'm going to talk to my friends about this one because I know that there's The Avenues, Regency Square Mall, and Orange Park but I don't what is considered the "good mall". I think the only reason we'd go with a mall is if the weather is supposed to be bad or something.
Again, please give me your thoughts and suggestions! And PLEASE I know we HAVE to have more than one Hetalia fan living near Jacksonville!!
