[FANART] Art Dump 2 - but mostly World Cup stuff
Second art dump! (first one was March OTZ)
Title:
ctcsherry 's Art Dump 2
Author/Artist:
ctcsherry aka me
Character(s) or Pairings(s): Australia, Cameroon, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Prussia, Ghana, Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, USA, Canada
Rating: G
Warning: military uniforms mish-mashed with sporting attire. Some might find this inappropriate. If that's the case, don't click.
Summary: Fanart pieces that I haven't posted before on the comm. One Canada Day pic and a series of World Cup related fanarts.
First one already a not so in-season fanart lol. Did this one for Canada Day, which was when the G20 and G8 took place in Toronto. I was inspired by the hordes of police officers blocking my building! Since Canada was drawn in his mountie outfit a lot, I decided to give the regular police uniform equal opportunity!

Ok moving on. Yeah I know. World Cup was back in July. Long story short, I drew Cameroon during the World Cup and then decided to draw the rest of the countries who participated in the World Cup finals, but then other priorities and RL got in the way. Anyways, I set out to finish this series and thanks to the holidays, now I'm finally done!
Shown in the order of completion.

This was the picture that started it all lol. Since 2010 World Cup had a very African theme, I thought it would be pretty cool to have Cameroon dressed in both his team jersey and add in some ethnic clothing elements. This was all kind of insane, I never thought others would dig this.

Turned out some people don't think I was totally crazy. So then I churned out the rest (they were really fun to do, really!) Maori inspired New Zealand here. If it's not obvious yet, Polynesian related things make me ridiculously happy.

Indigenous Australia inspired Australia.

I could have given Greece a chiton or something and it might looked better...but I just finished watching the "Greek Islands" episode of Anthony Bourdain and have the images of Cretan dancers imprinted in my head.

The Italies were a little bit difficult...uh in the end decided to give them something from Italian Unification.

All those hours watching Korean history drama ought to payoff someday.

The lack of references to the Eighty-Years War in World Cup fanarts surprised me...even TSN commentary made that reference.

Dutch revolt setting for Netherlands too, obviously.

Ghana. Not an OC, even if the canon material is scarce (or close to none). I got to admit I had to make up a lot of things...reference is here I had a great time drawing him, since Ghanaian clothing is just the best.

I broke the dimensions restrictions for Denmark.

Team Japan was frequently referred to as the "blue samurai" in media, so there wasn't much deliberation to be done with what he should wear. He was also one of the most fun ones to draw.

I was on the fence with either Native American or Colonial clothing for America, but couldn't resist putting him in Revolutionary War uniforms, because of what the jersey looks like already!

England has endless choices for traditional clothings, but I just couldn't find one that is more distinctively English. Then I went with this. Uh...seriously I have no defense to why this was chosen.

I was not looking forward to draw Switzerland, but he turns out to be one of my favourites in this cluster of fanarts.

France was also a hard one in terms of choices. When I asked on twitter "What should France wear?" the answers I got from two certain French pals was "naked" and "naked, since France was such a joke in World Cup". LOL sorry didn't went with the suggestions but I did thought long and hard about it! France here ended up with Brittany folk costume.

Lastly, Germany (and Prussia). Originally I played it safe and put them in Bavarian stuff but purged it because they look horrible. I'm not sure about English media but Mandarin-speaking media always referred to team Germany as "German Tanks". That was my reasoning behind this outfit...
I hope you enjoyed these! See you next time!
