I do have heard Lovino as a surname (as well as Feliciano, too), but never as a name. As being maybe other misspelling, I don't really think he would have gone just for a maybe-not-so-random word... But who knows. I didn't know that Vargas was that uncommon in Italy, either. I knew it wasn't as used as in Spain and Latin America, but not like that.
