My mother was living in Guernika when she was a child, her school was the hospital at that time (well, she was born in 1957, but elders are always telling stories, you know). One of my granparents remember Italians keeping republicans prisoners (he was one of them) and it's true about french and russians trying to help republicans (in fact, soldiers from the Republica fought in France militia during WWII because they couldn't return to Spain and a hundreds of children were sent to Russia to avoid the Civil War) so your fanart is pretty accurate <3

In the very sense of the word. I love it. It gives off a really nostalgic feeling because it looks ... not completely but a lot like a hommage to old Shoujo Manga, and the whole atmosphere is awesome. The composition is very well done, too.
Eh - though. Uhm, do you want crit? Because I think I spotted something, but I know that some people don't want it.

I am personally not really satisfied with this one (though I rarely am with any of my work anyway XD;;;). It would be very helpful if you can point it out to me so I might be able to improve for the next works.

Okay. It took me a while to figure out, but... it's really pretty much in the middle. Germany's back. Two things:
1) He looks like a 19th century girl, if you follow the lines that indicate his side. Wasp Waist. His waist is barely wider than his neck... I guess you didn't want to draw his hips & legs, but they should be in the picture - the way he holds himself he doesn't seem to lean to the side that much.
2) Let's look up a bit. There should be folds where the line of his arm meets his side, because no matter how you do your shirt/jacket, it will get crumpled there.
Which, actually, makes me add 3) The line of his shoulder and arm looks very uncomfortable, like he's pulling up his arm by the joint. that is probably why the arm looks somehow strange as a whole
And now that I look at it again, 4) his elbow region should be thinner. Usually sleeves get thinner between the shoulder and the elbow.
(Can you guess that I had to watch people's backs for ages before I could draw them correctly? |D )

Thanks for the input! Yeah, I did notice the problem with his back. My biggest mistake was that I didn't have an eraser handy at the time and I rendered that part too much. I'll keep an eye on that part next time!
HOLY COW...
LOVE THE STYLE OF THIS ONE SO MUCH HRNGH it looked so dramatic ;A; <3
Re: HOLY COW...
Glad you like it. :)

I don't remember learning about the Spanish Civil War.
The orangey-red is actually rather close to the colour of dried, smeared blood. I wish it'd stay such a healthy red, though. :c
=^..^=~
Re: I don't remember learning about the Spanish Civil War.
Dried blood is a sickening color, IMHO. Especially on skin.

Cold water and soap are my friends during those bloody times.

Guernika reference was so cool too. And god, it's great to see you know that Russia helped (well... Russia had interests but... ok. Helped.)
I just love this fanart. I'm speachless everytime I see it.
I would only change one little thing. And that would be France's expression. He's smiling and wel... He was a little fucked up by the situation, can't imagine him smiling like that. If you want to know more, I can explain it to you òwo
But the rest is so perfect ;W; really... I'm all: awww my poor country ;___;

I'd admit that I didn't know how far was Russia and France's involvement. I seemed to have defaulted that every country has interest in other country's misfortune, so yeah, hence that France. Sorry for that bit of inaccuracy. XD;;;;;;;

France first wanted to help but UK told that they couldn't help Spain and that if France helped Spain, UK would not help France if it was attacked by the germans...
Sooo~ France did a "Not intervention" Pact with other countries... Buuuut. Franced signed another pact years before that forced him to send guns and this stuff to Spain so... lol. He was pretty fucked. The weapons got to spain but... first they were sent secretly to México and from then to Spain... -w-
The frontiers were closed by the french and the help from other countries couldn't get to the spaniards.
Too, a lot of french helped out with the "Brigadas Internacionales" but the country, officially (at least at first and during a lot of time) was in "problems" xD
Dunno if anyone finds this interesting or what. I just had to explain xD
