Picking up Ukraine 8
And so as the two said their goodbyes, they parted ways. Ukraine hid behind the door, Canada headed for a hotel, where he could get some goodnight's sleep.
When all was clear, Bulgaria and Belarus appeared from behind a corner and also walked towards Russia's house. Their "mission" given to them by Russia was complete. They didn't leave the couple out of their sight even once and made sure that things went alright.
"Mission accomplished." Bulgaria said.
Belarus nodded.
"Aside of a small misunderstanding in the end, which propelled into a warm moment, things went very well." Bulgaria added, his eyes on Belarus.
She on the other hand was looking at the door they were reaching. She nodded in agreement.
"Now we can get some rest."
Belarus nodded. She reached the door and touched the handle, while pulling a key from her purse.
"I guess you will want me out of your hair now, Belarus." Bulgaria spoke in a tone that was hard to read, really.
Belarus raised a brow and turned to look at him. Surprisingly he was 10 steps away from her. She felt confused. Wasn't he following her so far like a little puppy that wanted to be petted? Why now, in the end was he keeping his distance from her. "Well…"
"Well, what? Don't tell me that you've decided to change your mind in the last moment, hmm?" Bulgaria asked, a small smirk appearing on his face for a short moment.
Belarus blushed. "N-no. It's not that. Don't be a bigger fool than you usually are, you American fanboy." she replied and bit her lower lip, blush not dropping from her face.
"Then what is it, Belarus?" Bulgaria asked, not moving an inch from where he stood.
She looked at him, wondering quite frankly why he was always so interested in her. Sure, they were something like allies when he was a Communist but she never noticed him having any sort of affection for others. Come to think of it, he seemed hollow at that time. What was he seeing that interested him so much in her? Yes, she was an attractive nation, so it was normal for there to be those, who would want to court her, but him of all people?
"I'm waiting for your answer… Natalia." The man said with a deep tone.
The fact that Bulgaria used her actual name surprised Belarus. Her eyes opened up wider than usual and she took a step back. Damn it, she couldn't understand this man at all. He was… so hard to read. That was probably why very few people liked him.
"It's just that, Big Brother likes having your company and I am sure he would want you to be a guest of his household for the evening." Belarus said and looked to the side, her cheeks burning.
"Oh"? Bulgaria's smirk widened.
"Yes." Belarus said and turned to look at him. When she turned, she saw a pair of almond eyes look back into hers. "!!" Bulgaria was in front of her, leaning forward, a dark smile on his face. It was this kind of smile that made people sometimes compare him to Russia, though very, very rarely. Belarus stared into those eyes, deep, dark eyes that looked like they wanted to devour her.
"Does Russia want this… or do you, hmmm?" Bulgaria said, the smile disappearing from his face, shifting back to that unreadable expression.
Belarus felt like something was squeezing her heart. Him standing so close. Too close. The way he changed expressions and how he acted. It was hard to explain how that made her feel. She needed some time to speak out a sentence and when she did, she said it. "I'm sure Big Brother would…" she said and looked to the door, blushing still.
Bulgaria straightened up his stance and folded his arms. "Very well then. I accept his "would be" invitation that you seem to be sure he would give me." Bulgaria replied.
Belarus turned around and opened the door, then entered, followed by Bulgaria. The door closed after him, a turn of the key locking it.

A day later, the time was around 9:30am.
Matthew Williams, Canada, was on the plane for home, baggage ready and everything.
The blond sighed lightly as he looked out the window, the airport. He could see people in the distance, entering and exiting, getting on and off planes. He knew that in a few moments he himself would be one of the people taking off into the sky and that should be making him glad. After all, Kumajiro surely must be missing him by this point…
… and then he imagined how that bear will probably treat him when he comes back. With the usual "Who?" and explanation, then Kumajiro asking for food and such.
He was supposed to feel glad he was going home, but he felt like something was missing. He wasn't sure what, but he felt a void in his heart. Then he realized what he wanted. He wanted to see Ukraine one more time before flying back home. Oh if only he could, but chances are she herself was on her way to her own house.
The captain then spoke on the speaker. It was in Russian, but it was clear what the man was saying – they were taking off.
Canada sighed. He closed his eyes and put a pair of headphones on. He had taken with him a few disks with music to listen to, while in the air. Those definitely were in handy when he wanted to kill some time.
The plane soon took off and Matthew waved at Moscow for a bit as he departed.
The time when Matthew could open his eyes again was when they reached their destination finally. Toronto airport in beautiful Toronto, Ontario. The captain of the plain told people to put their belts on, because the plane was landing.
The passengers complied and put their safety belts on. The landing was a bit rocky and shaky, but it was durable and people didn't really complain about it, except for an old man, who had spilled some juice on his pants.
The plane landed and the ramp was brought to it. People took their handheld luggage and exited the plane in an orderly fashion, one by one, though they were those few who were arguing over who should go first, but they were easy to ignore.
When setting foot on solid ground, Canada looked around the airport grounds, seeing the same things he saw at the Moscow airport. Planes coming and going, passengers loading and unloading on and off planes.
Still the same.
And just like that he still felt that emptiness inside. The need to have wanted to talk with Ukraine again, share what he felt towards her once more.
Suddenly he heard someone running behind him. While that would be rare, but not unusual, he could hear the distinct noise of things bouncing. His eyes began shaking as he thought of the possibility. But no, it was impossible. She was heading home, wasn't she?
"Mattheeeeeeew!" Ukraine's voice came from behind him.
That confirmed the opposite.
Canada quickly turned around and looked at the nation that was coming right for him. Ukraine had apparently boarded another plane and landed earlier than him to surprise him.
Before he was able to catch her, Katiyusha got to Matthew and accidentally knocked him down, falling on top of him.
"Waah!" Matthew whined as he dropped on his behind.
"Eep!" Ukraine exclaimed as she joined him on the ground.
Canada felt a bit dizzy from the fall.
"Oh no, Matthew! Are you alright?! I'm so sorry!" Ukraine apologized, shaking Matthew in an attempt to get the blond to get back to his senses.
He did manage to regain his sense of awareness in a bit.
"Katiyusha, w-what are you doing here? Weren't you going home?"
Ukraine nodded. "Yes, I was, but then, I wanted to see you again, s-so I went to your hotel, but then they told me there that you left for the airport, so I got some of my stuff and…" she paused. "Well, I'm here."
Matthew looked at her in amazement. She really came all this way just so she could see him one more time? His face went completely red. "W-wow, I… I don't know what to say."
"Uhm… you don't have to say anything…" she spoke lightly and leaned towards him.
"R-right…" Matthew replied.
And so the two, on the ground, embraced and kissed once more, feeling one another's warmth and the joy of seeing each other again. Each filling the void in the other's heart with happiness and their mere presence.
And with this ends the story of the first date of Canada and Ukraine.
End
