Hetalia Magazine?

I'm being so serious.

While looking at Sims 2 magazines (yeah...) I got a crazy idea. Online. Hetalia. Magazine...?

So...I ask you guys this. What sorts of articles would be in a fan based, fan run, online Hetalia magazine?
Of course it'd be full of advertisments, what magazine isn't? I was thinking of advertising anything from LJ comms to graphic comms to fanart pages, merch sellers, etc.

But I'd really love love love to hear suggestions on actual articles, or topics that could be covered week after week after week.

JUST GONNA SAY MY OWN SUGGESTIONS

- Various 'tip' articles like "What Not To Do (When Confronting a Hater)"
- Cosplayers Around the World
- Interesting Finds [irl gossip/facts about irl Hetalia happenings]
- Advertisements, obvious. [upcoming meets, graphic comms, different LJ comms, rps, fanart pages, merchandise sellings, etc]
- Convention Coverage
- Interviews with mods on various comms, maybe even interviews with big-name people (like Cher? Oh my!)
- Episode Highlight [picking one episode within the month and talk about it]

A Hetalia webzine sounds amazing.
I would totally contribute in any way I can if it happens.

The first thing I thought of was like.... have one or two pages dedicated to those Hetalia moments in people's lives. My Life is Hetalia sort of things?
Kind of like those embarrassing moments pages in magazines.

I don't know, I think everything else I would have said has already been addressed.

I would really love to see a hetalia magazine. I have an idea that will work well because it's onlineMaybe we can have hetalia fans around the world make drawings/fanfiction/any other fanwork based on the representation of the country they live in, and then they can be combined in the magazine to show a look at the Hetalia world from the people who live in their character's country.

I'm not sure what could be in it that hasn't already been suggested here though.

Maybe a discussions page every issue?; it could discuss anything really, but it might be fun to discuss the fanon theories and headcanons that are around as well as canon stuff.

- Rumors [ebates on things like HRE =/= Germany or not, if Hana-Tamago represents Aland Islands, if characters like Taiwan (haircurl characters that aren't the Italies) get aroused if you pull their curl, ect, maybe even interviewing several different people on such topics]

More on the advice column...

- Advice (different characters giving different advice. France would answer love questions, Poland would talk about fashion, but at the same time, they'd incorperate real life stuff into their advice. For instance, Poland's fashion advice would be based on real fashion from real people in Poland, France's love advice would be influenced by how real French people treat love, etc. America's would be about foods around the world, etc.)

This is, by far, one of the best ideas listed. I think I would be great to feature one character each month in the 'Advice' column, and have them discuss their 'Specialty', so to speak.

For example, October would be Italy discussing romance, November would be Japan dicussing both otaku and traditonal Japanese culture, December would be Russia discussing fun winter activities, etc.

And I would LOVE to write for this magazine, if it became a reality, which I truly hope it does. It's brilliant. I would love to write for any part of it, really.

An article on same seiyuus/VAs. Like, the VAs other roles, and comparing them between the characters.

Like comparing Russia to another character his seiyuu voices, like Gluttony from Full Metal Alchemist. France's seiyuu voices Vash from Trigun. America's seiyuu voices a bunch of Pokemon from the anime, like Snorlax, Croagunk, ect.

We could write about the similarties between the characters, if there are any. We could also discuss how differently they act, compared to the other characters.
In honesty, it'd have to be 'famous' characters from other 'famous' animes. Comparing China to a little known character his VA voices wouldn't really do good and make people laugh/realize something.

What about a little history section? Like, an article telling Hetalia fans about a random event in history that people don't usually learn about. It could be put into Hetalia terms, too, or just left as is. Since Hetalia and History are so intertwined, there's no reason a little bit of history would be out of place, right?

I was actually thinking of making a separate website for it (apart from LJ) and just posting links to each new issue (once it comes out) on the LJ comm. I think a regular HTML website would work better than LJ, for this case. xD

How about a look-alike and sound-alike sections? The look-alike section could include pictures of real people that look like the characters (not cosplay) that fans could provide! (I say this because a month ago I saw a guy on the subway that looked exactly like France, and if my cellphone could take pictures I would have loved to have a place to share that with the fandom!) and people could comment on it and after a while vote for their favourite picture?

The sound-alike might be a little more complicated but it woud basically be the same. Kind of like a "fandub" section. Since it would be a webzine people could send small Mp3 files either talking or singing like the character they think they (or someone else) sound like. Maybe we could even put all the song fandubs in there?

This sounds like an amazing idea and I would love to see it become a reality. Consider me available for whatever help I can provide! (I am also French and a France rp-er, and would love to try out to write as France is that love advice column xD )

You could do interesting articles like the ones mentioned above. And! Oh! Polls! Everyone's gotta love polls right?

Oooh! Cosplay tips would be so nice! Like patterns for cosplays! Or recommend where to get wigs! How to Cosplay properly! (how you should present yourself etc.)

Featured fanworks would be so awesome!

Oh! Oh! Also, a lot of people have been selling a lot of there hand-made items too! You know, they can advertise on the webzine! (it's up to you if they can advertise for free or not)

The magazine can also have translations of Japanese/Chinese/etc. fanworks so that they can be viewed too.

And lots of people have cosplay evensts/meetup all around the world. We could feature one, interview the attendants and what not.

To hop on the current events idea, you know we could have people posted on the goings on of LJ. And we could have two article writers take opposing views on a subject and write opinion articles on it in a debate section.

We could give special shout-outs to hetalia cosplayers/fanartists/fanwriters who earned recognition in local cons.

Also, letter to the editor!

Oooh! Oooh! And there should be a map, like at Christmas time, where people can see where all the fans are. (like i didnt know there were New Zealand fans)

Best idea ever.

I think the magazine needs to balance the crack and the more serious side of the fandom to work properly. I think either reader-contributed or "editor" essays on a selected topic would be kind of nice, but you could do that one of two ways.

1) In each issue, announce the topic for next months "essay discussion." Readers who are interested could write it to put it in.

2) Readers choose their own topic and send it in.

For the first one, you could choose "Is HRE a young Germany?" And you could choose an outstanding essay for the idea and an outstanding essay against the idea and publish them. Or, if you feel like being silly, use something like "Best crack pairing?" to get crazy responses.

For the second, you just get a variety of essays to read.

I think a quotes section from the anime/manga would be nice, too. Like a "Who said it" feature.

Otherwise, I love all the ideas on this page so far. I'd definitely love to help in some capacity. :D

I'm usually a lurker, as evidenced by my +1000 watched communities and, like, three journal entries, but... this idea is Prussia level awesome and I couldn't help but respond. You have my support and eternal love for this. ♥♥♥ -wibbles-

If you still need any help I'd be happy to do what I can~ 'Cause I'd love to be a part of this project if you'd let me. I could... I dunno, write something up or make a mockup cover or page design for you? No idea what you sort of help you may still need at this point....

As for some ideas:
-A "this day/week/month" in History feature? It could just be a side column list or a full article... or if we get a talented artist working on it with you, maybe a short comic illustrating the event Hetalia-style?

-Goes along with the Current Events idea, but... general WTF stories from around the world and the respective country's reaction? For example, a man in Japan was recently arrested for dressing in drag, going to a laundromat, and stealing women's underwear. And I'd love to see Germany's thoughts/reaction toward that case where two German men met online and they decided to engage in cannibalism. |D

-Guides/help with navigating Japanese sites like pixiv and NND when looking for fan works and the like

-Weird laws in various countries with said country trying to justify it, no matter how silly/stupid?

What a sweet idea! I'm extremely burnt out from reading and working all day, so I'm a little short on ideas and all. But I really love to write, so if you need any help with contributors, and if I'm not too busy with my college work, I'd be interested in helping with articles! I was Copy Editor for my high school yearbook! I think it's a great idea!

I'd have the focus equally encompass the series itself as well as the fans. I thought that spotlights on certain fan artists and fanfics would be sweet! Also, the advice column from a certain character would be too great for words.

A really interesting article would be about the English dub, just saying. Or maybe have at least one article that discussed one of the "controversies" or criticisms surrounding Hetalia. If they are handled objectively, articles like these might spark a lot of new interest in the webzine since these are subjects a lot of people have very strong opinions about.

Also, having a quiz section would be cute, such as "Which Hetalia Character are YOU Most Like?" Maybe get a few ideas from the hetalia_rate (http://community.livejournal.com/hetalia_rate/profile) LJ community?

If I wasn't so tired, I might have about ten thousand ideas.

I am SO loving this idea right now, and I would love to be a part of this. I was actually thinking, since its such a big part of this community right now, there could be an article maybe once a week about various pairings. Yeah, I know, bringing shipping up might not be a good idea, but if we had a column explaining what people like, both crack and otherwise, it might shed some light on why people like it.

We could include interaction with the people, why they might be together, etc. I don't know, I think it would be fun to write xD

I think a feedback to previous articles would be fun, like what other magazines do.
