Tokyopop's Announcement!

The news Tokyopop had to announce is that, even though Hetalia Volume 1 comes out in English on Sept 21, you can buy a digital copy here: http://www.zinio.com/browse/publications/index.jsp?productId=500598949 and that some libraries already have the digital copies. The post was made on Tokyopop's facebook fanpage.

Not just that, but the kept some of the honorifics, with Japan using -san after America's name, and some of China's sentences end in aru. The only thing that bothers me is I think they use both UK and England in the book...

I should think everyone knows how enough people feel about Funimation's dubbing efforts, and Tokyopop have a reputation for shoddy translations. I'm taking this to the wank comm, but seriously: with the letter above and the things Tokyopop have done to other manga before, it is a legitimate concern.

Glad to have this to read on my computer! But sort of annoyed that the book essentially got uploaded last page to first page ><. It's taking my older machine awhile to get it to the beginning as well. Next time I really hope they correct this glitch.

Since Tokyopop has a subsidiary company here I'm really hoping that they bring the Manga here, too~
As long as they keep with translations and don't put in nonsense I can live with a different cover and so on... I have the first two editions in Japanese as well to look at the cover~

Really glad for this - one, because the letter made me feel like Himaruya himself had just giving the whole fandom a big hug (I think of you as family, Himaruya-sensei!!), and two, because manga needs to start legally moving online at least in the West because there are some people that are simply never going to buy normally - but I'm still going to pick up a hard copy instead. I feel like I need to have something I can hold in my hands and put on my shelf instead of just something to read and then lose in the depths of my computer for weeks on end.

Still, surprisingly good move by Tokyopop. This needed to happen. Let's hope they give us a good translation!!
