Help with Cosplay~?
So.....this is my first time posting here > A>;; I'm sorry if I sound really stupid D:
Anyway, this is my first time cosplaying ( as Russia : D I promise I'll post pics next time ) So I've decided to just buy a cosplay online since I'm hopeless at sewing and making clothes for myself ( trust me, I tried ). The thing is...I was a little confused at the measurements. I know sometimes you need to add a few more numbers to your size so the outfit won't be too tight or anything but does that also go for cosplays too? Or do they already add a few more centimeters themselves? D: I don't want to make a mistake and accidentally order something way too big or way too tight.
Also me and my friends are planning on chest binding since we're not really all that flat-chested ( we're not Ukraines either ) but since we need to put the measurements in, do we put in the measurements when our chests are already binded or our real sizes? D:
>>;; Once again, sorry if this sounds pretty dumb but it's my first time cosplaying.... xD

With measurements, you want to measure yourself so that you're not choking yourself by measuring too tightly, and you want to wrap the measuring tape around the desired area so that it's somewhat loose. Like, not loose enough that the measuring tape is wrapping air, but not tight enough to feel the tape constricting your blood vessels.
Just measure yourself comfortably and according to the commissioner's wishes (if you're still unsure, you should ask them questions too) and I think you should be fine.
As for chest binding... measure your chest area with the way you want your chest to be for the con. If you're gonna bind your chest for the con, measure yourself with the chest bind.
If I were you, I'd just not bind the chest cause I think it'd be more comfortable, but yeah. Measure yourself as you would in the condition you're going to the con.
XD; I hope that helps! I can try to explain further since I tend to suck at descriptions at times.

- Measure yourself in the underwear you'll be wearing with the cosplay. So yes, bind your chest.
- You don't need to do any math with your measurements when ording clothes. If you have 36-inch hips, for example, get the size for 36-inch hips.
- Sometimes I find that standard sizing charts don't have my measurements exactly. If this happens (and you can't give them custom sizes), buy the size that fits the measurement that's larger and get the other parts tailored down to fit you exactly right so you don't look sloppy. And don't try to buy the size that corresponds with the smaller measurement, because it will be too tight elsewhere. (Just as an example, I have a large bust, so I usually have to buy shirts and jackets in a Large and get the waist tailored down to what the Medium is.)

However, I'm not sure this is the comm for these sorts of questions, save for the fact that you're getting a Russia costume. If you have any more questions like this, try the hetalia cosplay community or cosplay.com, those are two excellent places for cosplay information like this! [I'm honestly on there all the time. xD]

They are fabulous.
Any other ways of chest binding are really not good for you...
