[meetup] North Bay potluck picnic!

Hey all~ Here's the official post for the North Bay potluck picnic! Details of the when and where, some directions, and other such things are under the cut~ If I've forgotten anything, smack me and I'll put it in :)

TIME, PLACE, ETC
When: Sunday, August 8th, ~11am til whenever.
Where: Howarth Park, Upper Oak Picnic Areas (near the upper parking area)
Address: 630 Summerfield Rd
Santa Rosa, CA

If the date needs to be changed, let me know ASAP.

Park Rules
These are park-enforced rules, so I have no control over them :( Copypasta'd from the site, removed things that aren't really applicable to us.

# Alcohol is allowed ONLY on weekends or holidays and after 5 PM on weekdays. Please note: Glass bottles are NOT allowed in the park. (Nori-note: Also, if you're bringing booze, I'll have to card you. You're probably better off just not bringing it. :P)
# Pick up all garbage, food, decorations, and party remnants and throw them away in an appropriate trash
# Do NOT damage or pollute park property
# Dogs MUST be on leashes (not exceeding 6 ft) and attended at ALL times
# Bicycles, cars, and other vehicles must remain on designated paths, roadways or parking spaces. Remember - pedestrians have the right of way!

The following things are NOT allowed:

* Glass containers (this includes vases, mugs, and beer/wine bottles)
* Smoking (of any kind)
* Cats
* Firearms
* Camping, Golf Activities, Swimming, Paintball/Airsoft, or Archery
* Motorized Vehicles (this includes radio operated models)
* Amplified Sound
* Conducting any business (money CANNOT change hands) - this includes vendor sales!

==============================================

DIRECTIONS:
Parking is FREE.

Note: Directions from Highway 12 are the same regardless of which way you come in, since without taking backroads you can pretty much only get there via Highway 101 or Highway 12.

From Highway 101 (NORTH AND SOUTH)

Take Highway 12 EAST towards Sonoma. If you're coming from 101 south, take the Hwy12 exit and stay in the right lane. If you're coming from 101 north, take the Hwy12 exit and stay in the left lane. Both of these exits are retarded and have both the East-and-West-bound lanes on the same exit.
Highway 12 will END at Farmers Lane. Take a LEFT at Farmers, stay in the right lane.
Take a RIGHT on Sonoma Avenue to Summerfield Road.
LEFT on Summerfield Road. The park entrance will be on the right about a block down.

(If you are coming from the Lakeport or Upper Lake areas, it may be faster for you to just take Hwy 175 or Hwy 20 to 101.)
From Lake County (Clearlake/Lower Lake area) via Hwy 29 through Calistoga:

Take Hwy 53/29 over the hill to Calistoga.
Turn RIGHT onto Tubbs Lane.
Turn LEFT at the end of the road (I believe it is Main Street), go towards Santa Rosa.
Turn RIGHT at Calistoga Road. Follow Calistoga Road all the way through. It will run into Hwy 12/Sonoma Highway just past the Safeway on the left.
Turn RIGHT onto Hwy 12/Sonoma Highway. Continue to Mission Blvd.
Turn LEFT at the stoplight onto Mission Blvd.
Turn RIGHT onto Montgomery Drive.
Turn LEFT onto Summerfield Road. Park entrance will be a few blocks down on the left.

If for some reason you miss the Mission Blvd turn, follow Hwy 12 to Farmers Lane/Hwy 12, turn left onto Farmers/Hwy 12, left onto Sonoma, left onto Summerfield, and right into the park :)

From I-80:

There are several ways you can do this: I-80W to to 37 through Vallejo to 101 North and just follow the directions from 101; I-80W to Hwy12/121 to Hwy 116 to 101 North and just follow the directions from 101; or just plain I-80W to Hwy 12/Sonoma Hwy and follow the directions from Mission Blvd (see: coming from Lake County). The latter will take you through American Canyon and through the cities of Sonoma and Aqua Caliente, so it may be slower (but I guess you could call it the "scenic" route).

If you need directions from elsewhere, please let me know!

VIA PUBLIC TRANSPORT:

PLEASE NOTE THAT BEGINNING IN JULY, THE SANTA ROSA TRANSIT MALL IS BEING TEMPORARILY RELOCATED WHILE THEY ARE REMODELING. So henceforth, "transit mall" refers to wherever they're relocating to (I will update this post as soon as I know).

If you plan on coming via Golden Gate Transit from San Francisco to Santa Rosa, please be aware that the city (NOT GGT) buses stop running at 5 pm on Sundays, so the last pickups near the park would be around 4. GGT routes 80 and 101 will take you to the Santa Rosa Transit Mall; you should be able to get a transfer that will allow you to go from GGT to SRCB for free or a reduced charge. From there take the Santa Rosa City Bus route 4, 7, or 8 to Summerfield Road. If you are unsure where to stop, please ask your driver.

SRCB Fares are: Adults: $1.25, Youth (under 18): $1. Children under the age of 5 are free (up to 3 children per paid fare). Seniors and disabled passengers ride for half fare. You may get a transfer that is valid for 2 hours and will allow you to catch other buses.

Please respond to this post if you will be/want to be attending. Being in costume is appreciated, but not required ^_~ As this is a potluck, I ask that if you come, you bring some sort of snack, drink, or plates or something to share. I myself will supply paper plates/plastic tableware and some sort of gluten/dairy-free cake/cookies/something. I will also be bringing garbage bags so that we can easily clean up after ourselves. I may be able to bring some other things, but chances are I'll be biking to the picnic, so I can only bring what I can fit in my backpack ^_~

If you would like to bring games or something, please do!

I know there were a few people who were in need of rides, and others who were willing to give rides. If you need a ride or would like to offer a ride, please say that you need a ride/are offering a ride and where you're coming from in your comment so we can try to get things sorted out.

Woot, Spain-chan here. I'm offering a ride from the East Bay and I'll see if I can bring a non refigerator needed food. What I want to know is are there any fees for parking? I don't want to be accidently surprised.

[identity profile] clarkinaohyus.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Japan reporting, I could quite possibly be coming. It all depends on getting there and whether or not it clashes too much with a camping trip.
As far as costumes go should I be coming, would the official costume be best or something casual?

XC I don't know if I'll be able to goooo. Is there anyone who's coming from SF/Daly City/South SF?
