Some cosplay questions

Hi, I just recently joined the community and had a couple of questions for cosplaying. :]

Um, this is the first time I'm going to be cosplaying as anything/anyone and I'm a bit worried about where are the best places to purchase wigs and such. (If anyone is wondering, I'm going to try as Finland.) Also, the next question I had was when there will be some conventions or meet ups in the next few months. I understand that you need to buy tickets for the cons, as well. Does anyone know approximately when one should  buy a ticket? Thank you very much for any input!

Edit: Oops, I forgot to add "in southern-ish Cali." after "meet-ups."

If you live in southern california, there's always AX which is coming up the first of July. There is also a post about meeting in Santa Cruz soon floating around the comm.

As for wigs, the last one I bought was from this place: http://shop.ebay.com/wigfashion/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25

They aren't too expensive and if they're all mostly like what I bought, they're easy to trim and style and not shiny ^^

Hope that helped. c:

I am a dork and completely forgot about that part of your question. XD For AX you can by your tickets anytime, even during the convention itself. It's usually just that the earlier you buy them, the cheaper they are. Like, I think the ones for AX are around 80ish But they'll most likely go up another 10 dollars or so if you were to buy them at the door.

If it's something like Comic Con or large, having a reserved number of spaces...well, I bought mine 6 months in advance .-.

Also, randomly, there's a small convention that goes on every january near LAX called Anime LA.

Actually, we were planning the Santa Cruz meetup to be a kind of beach/casual event. Or, you don't have to cosplay at all, just hang out with fellow hetalia fans ouo

Sort of far in advance, but another popular con down in SoCal is Anime Los Angeles, which is in January, but it's a smaller con than AX and you'd have more time to get something ~*super awesome*~ together!

I'm getting a Finland cosplay together too, and yeah, I usually order my wis off of ebay... My girlfriend is making my outfit, but there's lots of sites out there with premades.

lol, random LJ-er commenting. sorry.

The ALA meet up, oh my gosh. For a tiny con there were indescribably large amounts of people there, xD
