ARIZONA COSPLAY MEET!

HI! do you live in Arizona? well you should think about coming to a meet up i'm planning ^_^

SO! let me start off by saying I AM NOT FROM ARIZONA!!! but i will be going to arizona this summer, and since i'm leaving my cosplay friends in good old wet and rainy Washington State, i wanted to put together a meet in Arizona!

first i just want to know who would be willing to come to this meet

i also don't know the area, this of course would be somewhere in Phoenix!

so tell me what you think, tell me if you can come!
Give me advise

As a side note, i am going to DIE down there!!! here where i'm at its still cold and rains all the time, anything past 65 degrees is too much so....0_0

also i will be posting more notices.

I could possibly go, it really depends on the day. Common sense, meet ups that are indoors after 11am are highly preferred because it will get to hot for people in cosplay.

I think getting an idea of were most people are in Phoenix is a good idea.
I live in Peoria so I'm closer to the Maryvale area of Phoenix.

When I was volunteering at comic con in Mesa like 2 years back there were some cosplayers that were fainting due to the heat at 11:30am. Indoors or outdoors I would highly suggest everyone have plenty of water on them.

Oh July, I'm pretty much open because on the 14th is my birthday.

Rain? What's that? XD

Temps in July usually run 100-115 degrees, so since your not use to the heat like me, outdoors might be a problem. Well, if anyone else come across this post I can get an idea of a place that will be on the cooler side.

Hmmm big places in Phoenix...all I can think of are parks and those are not really in Phoenix. The downtown Phoenix area were the ballpark is big but its also a business district and so much traffic and problems. Also if it were at a park we would have to wait till about 6:30pm for the temp to go down.

I'm going to brain storm with my dad for places.

It's hooooot

Ohh man, you're thinking of having a con in Phoenix? In the summer? O__O

As a Tucson native, I know how hot it gets down here in AZ. I've only been to Phoenix a few times (in the summer, woefully), and it gets even hotter up there than it does here. And it's not uncommon to have temperatures of 110+ here from July-August.

I would ADORE having a con so close, but really, Hetalia costumes tend to be rather all-covering, don't they? XD; I wouldn't want people to faint from the heat.

Oh that's a smart plan ^_^

I really would try xD; Can't give a definite answer for sure unfortunately at the moment...It may be just wishful thinking on my part @.@; So don't count me in yet ^^;

I'd hate myself for missing it, though. There are hardly any cons that aren't totally on the east coast ;.;

I'm in Mesa, so depending on the day (but if it's a Sunday that's an automatic no-go for me) and where in Phoenix it is (and whether or not I have a driver's license by then) I should be able to make it - and depending on their schedules, I could bring a few friends.
As for big landmarks in Phoenix itself where we could hold it, I'm not entirely sure, as I don't know much of that area either. ^^; I'm sorry I can't be of much help there.

It's alright, I understand. ^^ if anything I should apologize for throwing all of that out there (frustration from past gatherings out here being scheduled on Sundays, I guess). As far as dates, maybe something after the 4th so there isn't as much traffic? >.>; I know, odd consideration. Sorry I can't be much more helpful than that.

There have been at conventions, and I think a few out-of-con, but the latter I ended up never finding out about. ^^;

hmm... I'm not sure either - I'd suggest reposting it closer to around mid-June maybe?

... owo I... I wanna go...!Currently I'm in Rio Rico So Phoenix is still a huge drive and i can't exactly drive... Hopefully this gets lots of people? I really want to go!

Ooooh <3

I'd love to come, I'm hanging out only a little ways from Phoenix c:

[identity profile] the-laurasaur.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, tons of people! c:

Hmmm... I know where it kinda is, I'll see!

Sorry to butt in ^^;

Arrowhead Town Center has generally not been very accepting of groups and meet ups. I know a few people have gotten kicked out before for cosplaying. Metro Center Mall would probably be a better bet and there are more shops and is generally more friendly to cosplayers.

I'll ask around about it some more, but I know most people I've talked to prefer it. Metro Center has even sponsored a few cosplay events before and Arrowhead tends to be less event centered and more, erm, hoity toity XD

No problem~ I'd love to go, but I've got work and school stuff so I don't think I'd be able to make it.

Hetalia meetups in AZ?

Hnnnng I've been wanting to go to one for some time!

[identity profile] phibby-kun.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
XD I'll wait for more infos.

Anyone else from Arizona usually do this? I...don't really cosplay but I'd love to meet new people :>

[identity profile] venusgal100.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
/lawl invading the comments.

I know hetalia cosplayers occasionally meet, like we had a sort of picnic thing in March at Papago Park. But we mostly just meet up at cons and stuff. Like at Comicon where we invaded a local burger king. Oh man good times.

[identity profile] venusgal100.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
As an Arizona Hetalia cosplayer, I'd recommend advertising this here (http://hetalia-az.deviantart.com/). Arizona cosplayers are pretty close and if you mention it to any of the Co-Founders I'm sure they'd be willing to mention something about it.

We actually had a meet up earlier this year, but it took about three months of planning (because we all live in different parts of AZ), so IDK how the turn out is gonna be.

[identity profile] venusgal100.livejournal.com 2010-06-06 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's okay, we didn't exactly advertise it on the comm. xD

Good luck with organizing everything.
