[fanarts] Tegaki E dump!

I was sorting through my Photobucket and found a few old, old pics that I drew on Tegaki E a while ago.  They're a bit sloppy, and the character ideas are probably jossed by now, but I did rather like some of them^^;;

Title: First drawing
Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] youkofujima
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Hong Kong
Rating: G (ZOMG)
Warnings: Drawn in Tegaki E, rough.
Summary: First drawing of Hong Kong I ever did.

This was WAY before all the UK/HK thoughts came in, WAY before the shota shorts and everything else.  This was drawn directly after I saw the blog entry that first showed us Hong Kong and I thought: "OH MY DEAR LORD WHAT IS THAT.  HOW DOES SOMETHING GET THAT CUTE."  Note how his eartails are a lot shorter than the way I draw them now.  I think I'm actually in the wrong, presently.

Title: Twins...?
Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] youkofujima
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Taiwan and Hong Kong
Rating: PG
Warnings: Drawn on Tegaki E, slight feelings of a couple.
Summary: This was also drawn very early, before I thought of Hong Kong and Taiwan as twins.  Two pics!

In my opinion, probably the best Taiwan I drew, and the weirdest Hong Kong I've ever drawn.  As most of us see now, Hong Kong doesn't smile, laugh, or change his expression beyond "...," so this is when I still thought that the boy had some sort of emoting muscles on his face.

While I didn't think of them as twins at the time, I also didn't think of them as a real full-blown couple, either.  Just two politically similar nations that probably hang out a lot, get tuckered out, and then take naps together.

Title: Добрый вечер
Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] youkofujima
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Russia
Rating: G
Warnings: Tegaki E drawing, also, bad Russian
Summary: chibi!Russia craze time.

I drew this to say goodnight on Tegaki E.  But then when I looked up the word again, I realized that I wrote "good evening" as opposed to "good night" in Russian.  Damn online translators. XD;
That's all.  Let's see if I can fulfill someone's kink tonight...

RUSSIA-TAN IS GOING TO BE RAPED.
<33333
And I think that with your draws I'll ship Hong Kong/Taiwan xDD

[identity profile] know.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
RUSSIA!!!

Is it weird that I think of all the countries as either siblings or friends.
I don't ship anyone, ahaha. |D

[identity profile] demikkusuu.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee, not weird at all. Victor Hugo once said, "A war between European countries is a civil war."

...Even though that leaves out, like, the Americas, the Pacific, Asia.. Polars..

..Shhh.

[identity profile] know.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL.
Well, I forgot enemies. xD
I think as America as Britain's little brother or even son. Sometimes Britain acts like a father to America like when he's belittling him.

[identity profile] demikkusuu.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
HEE. This brings back memories of US History last year. I swear, that class incited and rooted some trivial hate for Britains or something. D: Education, how dare you conflict with my political affiliations!

Haha, we referred to England as "America's Older Brother" in that class as well. Except, not the let's-be-friends-but-still-have-silly-tantrums-because-we're-related, but the kind of hey-i'm-watching-you-don't-you-dare-touch-my-stash kind.

..BUT YEAH. UK'S PRETTY MUCH. UM. EVERYWHERE. D: He's everyone's older brother.

[identity profile] know.livejournal.com 2008-08-01 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
In History class Britain was 'America's Mother' but I like him as a brother, ahaha.

I love US and UK tantrums! :<

LOL. HE IS EVERYWHERE!!

Nice to hear that someone else feels the same! I see them all as friends, too. XD

We're a rare breed, aren't we? 8D

LOL. It's okay. My mind is somewhat rotten also. o3o

Long comment is looong.

These are ADORABLE arts, you! I'm going to begin with the old concept of Hong Kong: somehow, that does feel quite right. He's adorable on that piece! (You're my go-to-person whenever I must think of someone who draws Hong Kong JUST right, just so you know.)

My cold, frozen heart was warmed a bit by the sight of Taiwan/HK. Those are sweet, really, and you *did* do a very good job with Taiwan on the first picture.

Short of the picture with Russia paradropping (it's actually on this thread, I just noticed!) that chibi Russia you drew has to be one of the few pictures that makes me see Russia as cute or sweet. It doesn't help that any picture of him with his national flower immediately reminds me of Mother 3's Lucas, (http://mouseridingox.lupous.net/random/Lucas_by_stardroidjean.jpg) the ultimate woobie.

It makes me want to write some story where I can deconstruct Russia's madness and show the nicer sides of him. After all, in a way, you could see him as much as a natural loon as a victim of the chaotic nature of his culture, and all the violence going on there. (I suddenly realized that, unlike other countries, you could explain Russia being unhinged right off the bat by the fact he's more of a force of nature than a country, proper.)

(Yeaaah. If I have a chance, I'll write a Russia fic like that. I just won't compromise myself to it because I've proven myself incapable of doing things if I make my tasks official. As long as they're spontaneous enough, I can dooo it!)

Interestingly enough, I was balking at the idea that someone wanted a Cuba/Russia fic on the kink fest, set during the Cuban revolution, specifically asking for US humiliating and for Russia to be presented on a positive light. I kept the wank to myself, but I just know a lot of Cuban people who would disagree with that perspective. However, over the days, I almost felt like actually doing it because it's *challenging* to me to actually do that in a tasteful fashion. I probably could, if I presented Russia as being sympathetic to Cuba's plight because his own people are not having a good time (but at the same time, what can Russia do? He just follows orders!)

May I butt in? :D This seems interesting.

[identity profile] daniela-lynx.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
To make things clear first: I am not that requester at the Kink Meme. (There's other stuff I've asked for, and I didn't even knew there was a Cuba character).

However I wouldn't dismiss the request as something that... balkable? At all. It's an interesting posture, I believe. Must come from a particular political raising, and of location too. History is taught differently depending on which country you come from. Coming from a country who doesn't have the best memories from USA interventionism, I think it's plausible that someone would request a such a fic.

(As a matter of fact, I've been in Cuba, and there's a lot of people who would agree with that perspective. Because it's a perspective.)

I'm not sure of how to phrase this without inviting to wank (the last thing I want to do is to provoke wank D:), but nobody has complained that the UK was presented as such a jerk when requests about UK/HK were made. Every country has been a jerk sometimes, somewhere in history. Why so surprised there was a request asking for the USA to be mean?

Re: May I butt in? :D This seems interesting.

[identity profile] mumumugen.livejournal.com 2008-07-31 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
LOL Butt in away! I do enjoy comments and counter-commentary, and... yeah, see, the thing is part of why I didn't actually make any outcry about it is because I understand that. There's a lot of perspectives (and none of which is entirely unjustified) out there, so I understand there's really no "wrong" done there, that is, nothing worth making drama for. Second, it's Hetalia: goodness knows everyone is bound to be a little offended by something or another, but we're here to have fun.

Besides, I'm an enemy of wankery, and I wasn't about to be the one to bring it into the community. (So don't worry. You won't get wank from me. ^^)

And absolutely agreed, really: every country HAS been a jerk sometime, in history. It's part of how countries grow, unfortunately. It wasn't so much surprise that someone made that request, but it was the first time that one particular Hetalia pairing/scenario hit a nerve for me. Hence why I admit that, yes, it HIT a nerve, but that I wasn't about to make a big, internet mess over it. On the contrary, I am actually seeing it as a writing challenge to write *from* a perspective I don't share, and even going as far as trying to play out WHY it makes sense for someone to have it.

Also, I'd make it sweet and smutty, as I feel all political debates should be.

Now I want to study my Russian history. Oh, poor Russia. You made me feel bad for him. T_T

This thread is now about Mother 3.

Oh wow! To describe Mother 3... I'm going to hope I do my best. I've been told I'm bad at 'selling' ideas. T_T

Mother 3 is the last on a series of very sentimental, touching, quirky (and obscure) games by Shigesato Itoi. The Mother series is famous, in spite of its old school graphics, for having stories that really touch you. They're not traditional, smooth stories, but they are nonetheless enchanting. The tagline for Mother 3 is, in fact, "Strange, Funny, Heartrending." And they are NOT KIDDING YOU.

Mother 3, properly, tells the story of Lucas, a little boy whose idyllic, simple life on the rural and pastoral Nowhere Islands is interrupted when tragedy strikes his life, mostly thanks to the invasion of Nowhere Islands by the Pig Army, the assault forces of the egoist Pig King, which seek to control the people of Nowhere Islands by modernizing their life and corrupting them with vice, among other conventional and unconventional means of tyranny.

Things generally go downhill from there, with loss, grief, and hurt rapidly taking over that poor boy's life.

(I'll tell you this much, though - I don't know other people, but certain Mother 3 songs makes me get teary-eyed on the spot. That's how intense it is. Go look it up on TV Tropes: it seems almost everyone agrees this game makes you cry.)

The sunflower thing is a spoiler, alas, but they have a sentimental meaning for him, trust me. I can spoil you if you want, though!

Lucas' name (and that of his brother, Claus) are actually borrowed from Agata Kristof's "The Notebook," which is a dark story about two twins dealing with a war (WWII) and with the dark world of the adults that surround them. Because of that, the sunflower, and a lot of other things, in the little world inside my mind I decided a real-world Lucas would probably be Slavic, eastern European or outright Russian, the latter actually thanks to Hetalia's Russia.

The thing about Mother games is that they are an acquired taste. Earthbound, the prequel, was badly publicized in America, and even then, you have to sit down and play it before you GET IT. I think a good youtube video to describe Earthbound is this:

But anyway, Thread Hijack over. LOL Sorry about that. T_T

Well actually, thread almost over. Here, have Mother 3's love theme. Old 16 bit music, ah, but how it gets to me. There's a vocal version somewhere on youtube, I think.

Funny how tomorrow is the 64th aniversary of Russia being an ass to us and today I had a dream that there was another war with Russia and some people I know were killed, yet I still find this particular Russia cute D: D: D: ♥
