QUESTION: HRE' Name?

Hey! I've looked all over the page that lists all of the character's complete names but just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the Holy Roman Empire's human name was supposed to be or if it was even mentioned in any of the original Himaruya Hidekaz comics? I know this might be a stupid question because his existence (or what happened to him after he disappeared...) is supposed to be a mystery...but I just wondered if a name was ever provided for him or not.

If he doesn't have an 'official' name, is there a fandom name that's been frequently used? Was there a name anyone used for fanfics or for RP-ing?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!! ^^ (Sorry for my kinda dumb question)

No. Himaruya didn't give him any human name.

I'm not sure about any fandom names for HRE. D: -shurgs- Sorry.

I would go with Hludowig, because that's the ancient Germanic form of Ludwig.

*has totally pulled this off of Behind the Name (http://www.behindthename.com)*

I just go with Ludwig, because that's pretty strong fan-cannon (and almost story-cannon), if not historically appropriate(ish).

Can I second this? <3

Well, you could also name him Chlodwig. That's the old Francian version. Francia was the country that was split into France and HRE round the 9th century.

(that means France and HRE should be brothers or even twins!!)

I think I heard something about them being brothers... or maybe it's because France is sometimes referred to as "Big Brother France". :P

If they're supposed to be twins, then they're like the Italy brothers - complete opposites.

I like Chlodwig (*adds this to head canon*)
HRE and France being siblings is an interessting idea...

[identity profile] seiichirou-uta.livejournal.com 2010-01-17 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm, haven't heard that one before... only big brother France bla~

And I agree... complete opposites. *g* But what makes me wonder... IF it is that way AND Ludwig is the former HRE... that would mean he and Prussia are not brothers any more. But well now it gets rather scientific (I've read quiet some stuff about it. Prussia, if looked at him historically, is supposed to be something like the brother of... tantantata~ Lithuania!)

Hmm, they really don't look like brothers to begin with, so I think they're more like brothers by friendship than by familial ties.

I second this whole-head canonedhearted!

*yay for creating new words*

Depends what you think Prussia started out as - the strips with young Prussia and young Hungary implies that Gilbert existed before they'd taken the Prussian lands. But since the Teutonic order most likely consisted of people who lived in the HRE area, damned if I know why he's considered the older brother... perhaps it's just because he grew up first?

Cool info about the name btw. /adds Hludowig to headcanon

You know... I've carried the thought with me for quiet some time now but strangely... only after I read your post (hell, beat me or so - I don't know why!) I finally got this idea:

The Italy brothers aren't twins, though. In their official ages, Lovino is a few years older- twins is a fandom thing.

Having said that, if you want to get in the family relationships, that whole area of the continent is a mess. If HRE/Germany (be they the same person or two different ones) is Prussia's younger brother, then t(he)y should be Austria's younger brother, at least. The France connection is not quite as tied, but it still makes a lot of sense. I think France just likes calling himself older brother, though, although Italy is the only one who does so. Then France, Spain, and England (or proto-England, as that connection's not as obvious as the France-Gaul and Spain-Iberia/Hispania are) (as well as many others) were all claimed by Rome, so does that make them siblings? Liech is a piece of the HRE- does that make her his sister, just seperated when Austria got her and Prussia got most of Germany (if you assume HRE=Germany, although if Germany=Hesse, then should be siblings almost certainly... gahh)? Then you have Switzerland who created Austria. Not to mention Prussia's connection to Poland, and the German tie to Scandanavia...

I think the Nations probably don't do family tree's often.

My forum goes with "Lothar"

Because at some point, the Germanic land was ruled by two brothers, Ludwig and Lothar...

Eh, but we do support the HRE=Germany theory, we just didn't want to confuse it by giving them both the same name.

... I am loving you so incredibly much right now. This makes my love of FrancexGermany so much more complete. ♥
