Hetalia roleplaying
I seen a lot of posts about this lately. And I can't help wonder... How does it actually work in practice? Is there some kind of guide somewhere about what is expected of a participant in Hetalia roleplay and some examples of how it tend to turn out?
I would love to hear some stories and experiences of online Hetalia roleplaying. I have ran and played pen&paper games before, but never dared to venture into the world of diceless online gaming.

It's not like an RPG. It's text based. Almost like writing a story(if you're doing it in paragraph form). But with other people?
I roleplay quite a bit(kinda) so if you have any more questions(or wanna give more detail about what you're asking so I can answer you better) you can ask me.

1. It's ONLY roleplaying. No dice, no nothing. Just get a separate account for your rp character, and join an rp comm. They all have different criteria for joining and playing, but it's like just talking and doing things.
2. It differs a lot from comm to comm. They can rang from a "dressing room"(A place were you can chill and talk and have zany events happen.), an "ask comm"(A place were people can ask questions and the characters answer), to a post-apocalyptic setting. Usually they're crossovers(NOT AUs, although there are a few), sometimes not.
3. OOC is Out Of Character. self-explanatory.
You can ask me more questions.

Perhaps the Hetalia people are less crazy then the guys of d20 so this isn't as big of a issue as I imagine ;)

Oh yeah, don't Godmod. That means that other people get to decide what happens to their characters. If you want to plan something (Like you want Germany and Italy to go a picnic and you play Italy), message or talk OOCly to the person first(So you would message or talk OOCly to Germany). A mun is the person who plays the characters. Muns can have as many accounts as they like, but usually comms have limits on how many characters you can play there.

Define crazy. The level of crazy seems low most of the time but it really depends on what's happening. Generally things are easily worked out. So, yeah, we avoid the crazy.
Also. . .an example of conflict would be. . . . [will use an actual example here....]
I, as Prussia's roleplayer, like Germancest. I roleplay Prussia to reflect that.
My Prussia goes after the Germany in our roleplay. Germany-mun doesn't like Germancest. Germany is played to reflect this.
Either A--Germany-mun will confront me and request that I cease his behavior; B--I make him stop myself upon realization(or I ask if I should stop); or C--We continue this way with it being one-sided on my muse's part due to tolerance and understanding.
Basically, things are worked out on our own OOCly to prevent insanity and annoyance. Usually.

A roleplayer on LJ makes a separate account for their character, then joins a game or community. They post under that account as if they were that character, then people respond to them, most frequently as their own character. (The characters in question can be either from an existing series, or original.)
Basically, to set a very simple example, say I'm roleplaying a bee. I've got a separate account; I'm going to post with it, in-character, as a reply to this comment.

The level of crazy in D&D players can be extremely high ;) Nothing would surprise me anymore, though I never personally experienced anything worse than incoherent screaming in rage.

XD Well, unless you're in a room with your fellow roleplayers, I doubt you'll hear any screaming. Maybe laughing or crying, but I doubt you'll hear screaming. XD
Also, in roleplaying, you generally have a posting order if there are three or more people involved in one thread. Usually in order to thread jump you'd have to get permission from the others involved. I like to state the posting order when it's started. Also, in order to follow the order better, tracking entries is a good idea.

I'm the admin of a msn rp, and even on there, it slightly changes from who you roleplay with xD
but basically, you just 'act' like the character. For exemple, on mine (sorry xD I've almost only rp'd on mine), you talk to the other nations as if it was your character typing and talking over msn.
But I suggest you go through the rp that might interest you, and one you've picked one, ask the administrator about the specification of their group. They'll most likely be happy to help you on that ^^
Because the way you rp depends a lot on where it is. Rping on msn is not the same as rping on LJ or on Twitter.

There is no guide on how you do it, but it's simple~ ^^ Usually, you fill out an application and there are rules - rules are basically what's expected of you~ ^^ All that you do is fill out the application, follow the rules and post as your character, all you're doing is acting as that character. You react to situations and interactions from other RP-er's accordingly. ^^
How it turns out? Well, most often your character interacts with other characters, in most RP's a character does build a relationship with another character. A romantic one. As well as friendships and such. There are in-character (IC) interactions, for Hetalia, wars, marriages, etc... But you also make a lot of great friends! ^^ A lot of RP's I'm in I've made great friends~
I'll make an example out of myself. I joined an RP comm and after a while, my fellow RP-er's are planning a trip together to Japan. It was my first-ever RP group and we've become pretty close, particularly those who have romantic relations with another character. XD
Fudgebuckets made a very good point for LJ comms! And qichi provided a good example~ ^^ tara_vonkarma and cupxkake also made very good points~ ^^ I just wanted to add on. ^^"
I've been RP-ing for... about 2yrs? And this summer will mark an entire year of Hetalia RP-ing~ XD So feel free to ask me anything, clarify something, provide samples, whatever~ (I also apologize for length of this~ ^^)
