Disscusion. Hetalia's popularity

Alright. I'm sure you have all heard about the news that the anime is going to get dubbed.
I admit, I am happy, but I'm mostly worried.

Hetalia's popularity has been going off the charts ever since France's character songs have come out.
It's fans are growing rapidly dangerously. As more episodes, character songs, strips, fanart, fancfics, anything really, come out, more people find out about it .
I admit, it's nice that so many poeple like it, and that it has brought good things to all.
But the fear of this fandom becoming the new Naruto is most probably not going to be a fear, rather than a reality after the release of the dubbed anime and the movie.
I really don't want to look like a pessimist, especially since so many poeple aer really excited about all this. But I'm just posting this as a warning.

Now, I would really like to hear your two cents on this. I know Hetalia requires a certain level of maturity, but we all know how to have fun anyways without hurting anyone. DON'T STOP THAT. Seriously, if something,or someone, comes off as rude to anyone, they politely say it and explain why. PLEASE don't go off like rabid fangrils and flame. You guys are all much better than that.

HOLY CRAP. NOT EVEN FIVE MINUTES AND ABOUT 70 MESSAGES. AND I'M SORRY IF I SOUNDED HARSH OR BITCHY. I JUST SOMETIMES START AND GO OFF LIKE MATT. I'M SO SORRY TwT

This. Definitely this.

I don't even know where this idea of maturity + Hetalia came from. Just look at the anime... 5 minutes of pastel colors and "HEY HEY LOOK AT ME I'M CUTE LOLHISTORY". And the comic isn't much better in terms of being "mature"... just slightly less cutesy.

I think they are talking about the fandom itself, that even though we know there are people within the fandom going "HEY HEY LOOK AT ME I'M CUTE LOLHISTORY" we as a fandom whole, are sort of well behaved compared to other fandoms of a popular series.

I'll admit it I was a bit of a Narutard [well I was a huge Narutard] but where ever I went seing Naruto stuff I saw CONSTANT fighting between, which character is better, which ship is better, ect ect. I have yet to see a fandom war between "Which nation is better" or "which pairing ship is better" [though sometimes going into the Kink Meme is basically all like "LOL USUKKKKKKK" England was themother fucking British Empire. He's not a whiney uke. even though on occasion its cute.]

I think that's what they mean by Hetalia + maturity. the Majority of us know there's a time and place for everything.

I feel like a hypocrite now...cause I totally fangirl over something in public... >.>;;; though I normally try to contain myself

Don't get me wrong when I write the following, I love Hetalia and this community the way they are but:

What is mature about (mostly) young woman getting nuts over fictional guys who represent countries (in an often not quiet right historical way), painting gay comics about them, spending hours and hours in front of the computer just to find out that the mangaka scribbled another picture (admit it... it's just scribbling. How many times did he actually really finish a picture?) etc etc?

As far as I've seen it this fandom is not very different from most others, except that the average age is slightly(!) higher and the percentage of fangirls nearly hits the 100.

But but seeing it this way may be because of my ignorance when it comes to facing trolls and stupid people. I just... yeah.... ignore them.

Well, maybe not so much in the real world definition of mature? xD Maybe more so in the anime sense. :/ But I daresay that the going nuts over fictional guys, etc also applies to most other animes, but the Hetalia community seems to be that minus the ship wars and etc etc. But some fanworks also dig pretty deep as well, which, I believe, requires some level of maturity.

Again, I said well behaved. I didn't say anything about drawing fanart, writing fanfiction. What I meant by that is, people take things a bit more seriously even though they are doing the things they are doing. [EI People doing RESEARCH to help write a fanfiction or drawing a piece of fanart. people shipping countries off because of their history [with the exception of Prussia...unless your talking before Prussia was no more.]] they havethe maturity level to know that there is a time and place for everything, and that you shouldn't say certain things because maybe offensive to people who DON'T know the series.

Again, I never said anything about the maturity level when it comes to shipping countries, only behavior as a whole.

Hm, seems like we got different ways of seeing some things.
For example I don't think that being well behaved has something to do with maturity.

I agree when you say that the community is great and fun (as said: I like it here) and everybody is nice and very helpful. But to each other of your mentioned points I could give counterexamples. Sadly. And this is what makes this community perfectly normal. You've got lots of people who are alright but you've also got some people who are not. That's life. *shrugs*

But as written before: Even if other fandoms are far less mature than this one because there is a lot more hatred among the fans regarding shipping or whatever... I've never noticed it because I ignore retards and stupid, futile "discussions" like that. As long as it doesn't affect the lives of others in a serious way I won't care. Otherwise I will get very furious.

Alright? :)

>.<;;; Did it sound like I was completely diagreing withyou? D; cause I wasn't. ; 3;

Yes there are crack fics out there, that's part of Hetalia. that's the whole series basically its all crack. xD As far as shipping countries...well they're countries they all iteract with each other in some way. whether its hateful or a friendship. And Yeah there are people in the fandom who are just crazy and you put up your hand and coveryour face an go "I don't know them." like you said that's life.

I generally pay attention to the wars and general stuff like that. because sometimes the things they say are so completely out there and stupid that I need a good laugh. its okay I'd get furious as well... > 3>;;

;D Yup~
