Germany and Prussia's Cross

 Could someone please be as so kind as to explain to me what the cross Germany and Prussia's wear is? All I know is that it's related to the Teutonic Knights, but aside from it being their coat of arms, I have no other leads. Could someone please tell me and elaborate? Thank you~
