Ahaha, that's brilliant. France would, I think. xD

[identity profile] kupodesu.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
I think my favourite part is where France runs off laughing maniacally at the end 8D

So true. :D I love the last panel. XD

Hetalia has convinced me that all of the funky philosophical and artistic ideas that came from France were all done to pester and confuse England.

Oh goodness, so much YES. XD ... Also, is France laughing like "Hon hon hon hon"? XD

[identity profile] batty-angel.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol I remember that painting (I had to write an Essay on Magritte ages ago)
Aw France, you're so bizarrely cracky at times XD

[identity profile] batty-angel.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, all I can think of now is France bothering England by holding up fruit in front of his face, switching it every now and then from apple to pineapple and so on until England runs away screaming in confusion XD

[identity profile] ardis89.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Sneerk. France's face in the last panel. :D

[identity profile] munnie-89.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
i remember this in art history >o<

So great that someone else thought of this! Me and my art history nerd friends used to do this too each other all the time. I find that painting too amusing!

...and then America copied the idea with One and Three Chairs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_and_Three_Chairs

This reminds me of the time my family was in Quebec. My dad asked someone if they spoke English and they answered "yes". Then he asked how to get to where ever it was were going and they answered, but in French! France's face...priceless!

[identity profile] simplistic-star.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. omgosh I burst out laughing when I saw the comic. I was still wondering what it was about in the summaries too! xD Man, learning abit of art history wasn't too bad after all (even though I slept in EVERY single class).

That painting was basically questioning the viewers about what they really see or crap like that, if i recall correctly. I can just imagine now, every time England says, "Uh, obviously it's-" "NO it's not!". pffftt.

I love that picture! XD Oh, France.

[identity profile] ninja-nutjob.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
France's fleeing pose slayed me. UNFUNF, those arms.

[identity profile] o0litodreamer0o.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
HONHONHON
France, you cheeky bastard XD That's why I love you so much
Man, I love that painting~! I'm so glad that someone finally made a reference to it. Thanks for posting =)

LOL, I recognize that! I had that in my painting class last year and again in my Media class this year. Only in the Media class it goes like this:

Teacher: What is this? *points to projector screen*
Student: pipe?
Teacher: no
me: a painting of a pipe?
Teacher: close.

In the end its "a projected image of a copy of a photograph of a painting of a pipe". ARGH!!

[identity profile] icyfire4w5.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Um, actually, I've been confused until I click on that link, and ta-da, Wikipedia explains everything. Wow, I've never expected France to be so...philosophical, and I kinda pity England here.

[identity profile] mangy-mongrel.livejournal.com 2010-01-10 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Shouldn't you have France hold up a painting of the pipe though? Because in that world for them the pipe is, well, a pipe. Unless France means to break the fourth wall? XD
