[Fanfic] The Trials and Tribulatons of Being a Snowman (1/?)

Title: The Trials and Tribulations of Being a Snowman (or The Day Denmark Royally Messed Up) (1/?)
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Demark, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Sealand, England, Prussia
Rating: T? for one swear word
Warnings: Utter crack. I warn you.
Summary: Denmark learns why England keeps his spell books under lock and key. Norway is not impressed.
Because someone said they wanted to read it. Also, because I don't have anyone to read this through, and I miss many of my mistakes because I know what should be there, feel free to tell me about any mistakes I've made.

Denmark knew it had been a bad idea the moment the last word passed his lips. It was the way it reverberated off the walls, bouncing around the small room like it had a life of its own.

After sitting on the edge of the bath for five more minutes, the nation sneezed as he snapped the old book shut, not wanting to look at England’s horrendous handwriting anymore. The growing sense that the book had its own consciousness wasn’t helping either.

He shifted uncomfortably, telling himself it was just from sitting on the side of the bath, before getting up and peeking out into the hallway. From the other end of the hall, in the sitting room, Denmark could hear England and Prussia’s snores (the light weights). He let out a relieved sigh and opened the door fully before stepping out into the carpeted hall way.

As he walked past the doorway into the room he couldn’t resist looking in to see what blackmail worthy positions the other nations had passed out in this time. What he saw almost made him drop the heavy book on his toes.

England was curled up on Prussia’s lap, head tucked neatly under the others chin and Prussia was managing to sleep with a smug look on his face as he held the other possessively. Demark couldn’t stop himself from grinning as he pulled a camera phone from his pocket and balanced the tome in his other hand.

“Perfect,” the tall nation snickered as he continued down the hallway until he reached the second door on the left. It was a plain oak door like most of the others in England’s house, but the door handle hadn’t been worn in the way the others had leaving them slightly tarnished. It was still shiny enough for Denmark to see a warped image of his grinning face when he looked down at it.

Just like the first time he had touched it, the handle set an electric shock up his arm. He winced for a second before opening the door and slinking into the dimly lit room.

Roughly two seconds later he had passed out cold and in a flash of light and a bang that made England shuffle restlessly on Prussia’s lap Denmark vanished.

~*~*~*~

Norway didn’t know how it had happened, but when he was able to find out heads would roll. One thing he was sure of was that the moronic Dane was involved somehow. He could just feel it.

His foul mood wasn’t helped by Iceland being scared out of his wits and the incessant ringing of the telephone. How was he supposed to answer it when he didn’t have fingers?

“Hello Norway. You won’t guess what happened!”

The cheery voice of Sealand on his answering machine made the small muscle under his eye spasm almost painfully, making snow slip onto the bottom edge of his button eye.

“Finland and Sweden are snowmen! SNOWMEN!”

He winced at the unexpected rise in volume.

“Ah shit! Sweden’s starting to melt! Fin-“

And the line was cut off.

Norway shook his head. He didn’t worry too much. This time of year, Sweden would be fine as soon as they’d managed to get him outside and away from the roaring fire he liked so much. But things were looking worse. He’d thought it might have just been himself and Iceland, but if it – whatever it was – had affected Sweden and Finland, that would be little chance that it hadn’t got to Denmark as well.

Sometime later – time passed strangely now that he was made of snow; it was both fast and slow at the same time – he arrived in Sweden’s back garden with a still silently fretting Iceland by his side to see Finland arguing with the little micronation while Sweden tried to unleash his usual glare.

“You’ll have to go back to England’s house.” Norway wasn’t sure if Finland was giving the boy an order or pleading with him.

“But I don’t want to.” Sealand protested, stamping his foot.

“We can’t look after you while we’re... like this.”

Norway watched as common sense started to win the argument in the boy’s head. He didn’t seem to like it very much.

“W’l come ‘n’ ge’ y’ when w’r en’mal ‘gin.”

Sweden definitely looked the worse for wear. One of his large button eyes looked like it had tried to slide down his face. Norway could hear Iceland try to stifle a giggle as Sealand stepped forward and push the blue button back in place.

“See! I have to stay. You’ll all fall apart otherwise.” The would-be nation grinned triumphantly.

“Fine. But you must behave yourself.” Finland’s warning glare was much more successful than Sweden’s this time around and Norway watched as the boy nodded his head and shuffled his feet, making sure not to kick snow out of Sweden or Finland.

“Oh, Norway! It got you and Ice too?” Finland’s greeting made Norway want to bury his face in his face in his hands.

The nation was about to answer when something fell from the sky with a loud thump and a shower of tiny snowflakes. Norway took a moment to recognise the cylinders of snow as being Denmark. It was only after looking at Denmark that he realised that the scarves that were around their necks were the colours of their national flags.

“Whoo! That was awesome!” Denmark’s grin faded slowly as he looked at the nations that had come to surround him. “It’s not my fault! I swear!”

In Norway’s mind, Denmark’s denial was nothing more than the proof of his guilt.

“You have a lot of explaining to do, Denmark. Get started.”
