Canada Cosplay Help

Hi! ^_^ I've been lurking for a while but finally decided to join.

My problem is I have decided (at the last minute) to do Casual!Canada (aka the red sweatshirt), but.... even with the most simple costume... my perfectionist side gets in the way.

I would like to know if there is any kind of image or symbol on Canada's sweatshirt. I've already seen a few other Canada cosplayers just have a plain red sweatshirt, but this image bothers me:

Is that a Canadian flag? Or am I just seeing things? x.x

Any help would be greatly appreciated. ^_^

I think it's a hidden Canada flag! =D
It doesn't look like the shadow from his bear to me, at least.

I'm pretty sure that is, look at the Canadian flag for reference.

The noble flag of Soviet Canuckistan

[identity profile] themsoftheraven.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Does that mean that Canuckistan joined Lithuania-Estonia-Latvia's club of "Russia-san scares the heck outta me"? ;o;

Suddenly, Canada's open friendship since the 60's with Communist China and Cuba make sense. No wonder Nixon had a grudge against Matt...

Bahahahahaha. XD

[identity profile] kiwifruiti.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
XDDDDDD. Win.

[identity profile] lo-wah.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
lmao xDDDD WIN

[identity profile] drunensis.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, that is.

[identity profile] cloud-riven.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Looks like it. Although, I always wanted a confirmation that the sweater was actually red. (is this an assumed thing?)

To Roots! And good luck :D

[identity profile] megglez13.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
I've always assumed it to be a flag on there. I don't really think it could be anything else...
And honestly, it always feels a little weird to me when Canada cosplayers don't have the flag on there. Plus, it will make you more recognizable. :)

[identity profile] shincaru.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
You will score extra brownie points with any and all Canadians on this comm if you swap out the Canadian flag for another Classic Canadiana Logo, usually revolving around our national hockey teams.

And then we can make dire jokes about beating Russia metaphorically on the manly man ice field that is the hockey rink.

I had the same issue! I bought a patch for mine (http://www.cosplay.com/costume/190254/), but decided last-minute not to attach it. In the "Fly, Canada-san, Fly!" strip (http://community.livejournal.com/hetalia/338610.html), there are a few panels where you see the front of his sweatshirt and it's not there. But the shadow in the panel you linked to makes it rather ambiguous, IMO. It's up to you!

I'm willing to bet that Himaruya got lazy or decided it's better to leave it blank.

[identity profile] lb-x.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
... you can't really blame him. I have many fond childhood memories of drawing butchered maple leafs whenever we were assigned to draw the flag.

[identity profile] drunensis.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
At least it resembles some sort of leaf though, right?

[identity profile] tramsosmai.livejournal.com 2009-01-21 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
11 points is so entirely not the easiest thing to draw. Like- at all.

I remember being jealous of all the kids in THREE COLOURED STRIPE countries growing up. Their flags would be super-easy to draw :c

[identity profile] braisinhussy.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
:D Thanks!

[identity profile] dochii.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I think you've been answered. :D

Man, this reminds me. I hope I see some type of Hetalia cosplayer at Ohayocon this year.

D: I'm going as Seychelles and I don't want to be alooone.

[identity profile] alexiel-rieth.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
According to the thread at the forums (http://forums.ohayocon.org/viewtopic.php?t=3008), there will at least be a Canada.
I would do one, but there's two problems: 1) never cosplayed before, 2) no time to make a costume
[problem 3) who the hell would I go as?]

[identity profile] dochii.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
I did too. It was kinda short notice for me, so I'll have to wait in line. :(

Ah well.

But yay, a Canada. Maybe if their savvy with the comm I can do some Can/Sey funtimes with them. Who knows.

[identity profile] dochii.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god

*They're

-facepalms-

[identity profile] pallasathene87.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
OH HEY. HI.

Am the person planning to cosplay Canada at Ohayocon. :D

[identity profile] dochii.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG HI.

If I see you I SWEAR I won't jump on your back (I'm too old for that anyway. My back will give out). I'll be a refined francophone island colony. |D

But we should hang out. D: It'd be bitchin.

[identity profile] pallasathene87.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
This is probably a good thing, as I am a tiny stick of a girl. XD

We really, really should hang out. I don't know exactly what my schedule's gonna be like (s-sob I really need to talk to the person co-ordinating our trip. we don't have rooms in the nearby hotels. uh. don't know where I'm staying yet.) but YES YES, it'd be awesome. Also there's a person who posted on the Cosplay.com forums about either bringing S.Italy or America.

I hope there'll be some other APH cosplayers. D:

[identity profile] dochii.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, seriously. I need someone to go around with, as of right now it's just me and my brother (and maybe a friend). :<

Well, I just booked my hotel(like a few minutes ago). Be staying at the Holiday Inn downtown. A MILE AWAY FROM THE CONVENTION CENTER, BUT WHATEVER IT WAS A DEAL.

Same here. Though, I honestly don't expect much. This series is getting popular, but I think it's on the more obscure list of popular things (Same with Darker Than Black and such). Ah well, it'll still be fun. :D

[identity profile] pallasathene87.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
We can hang out a lot! I'm not actually all that FOND of the people I'm going with (it's more as a means to get there than anything). So ditto on the needing people go around with.

I have a friend who offered me crash-space at her house, but I'm going to see what the one person I do like from my group is doing.

It will be awesome~

[identity profile] saekobichyu.livejournal.com 2009-01-14 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Why not wear a Habs T-shirt? :)

[identity profile] summersoltice.livejournal.com 2009-01-15 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure it's just a red hoodie. Although, I seriously think Mattie needs more clothes to wear...
