A bright and energetic Latiano that somehow went from being The Roman Empire, strongest nation in the world with a long history (the rest will be omitted) to being absolutely clumsy.

作中では「イタリア＝ヴェネチアーノ」
In Hetalia, he is Italy Veneziano.

　どこか抜けてて愛情表現豊かで少々甘えん坊。ちょっと泣き虫。
A bit of a crybaby and a spoiled child who is always expressing his love everywhere.

喋るとき同時に手足が動いたり、鼻歌がうるさかったり、スキンシップ大好きなのは生まれつき。なんか体にしみこんでいるものらしい。
Was born with the habits of making huge gestures while speaking, humming obnoxiously, and loves skipping around.   It almost seems as though something has soaked into his body (not sure about this translation).

　趣味は料理とシエスタ、絵画にデザイン。
Hobbies include cooking, siestas, and drawing/designing.

ちょっとちゃらんぽらんだがなぜか他の国には大目に見てもらえてる。
Is a bit irresponsible, but for some reason the other nations turn a blind eye to it.

Height: Unknown (probably the same or taller than Veneziano)
Age: 22-23ish

In Hetalia, he is known as Italy Romano.  Perhaps it was because of the long-time split, he doesn't get along very well with Veneziano even after unification.

　女の子には明るく優しいが、男には厳しく無愛想。
Is extremely friendly and kind to girls, but strict and unsocial towards men.

ある意味自分には素直。
In a way, he's honest to himself.

ドイツやフランスは正直嫌い。
Honestly hates Germany and France.

趣味はナンパと農業と料理にシエスタ。
Hobbies include hitting on girls, farming, cooking, and siestas.

手は不器用 だがなぜかスリはうまい。性格や文化、味覚はスペイン譲りなところがある。パスタとトマト大好き。
For some reason is a really good pick-pocket despite not being very skilled with his hands.  His personality, culture and tastes are concessions of Spain.  Loves pasta and tomatoes.

You know, it's amusing how Italy managed to get fabulously rich at one point and managed to be a Very Important Factor (due to Rome) throughout history, with personality like that. Yeah, I know Chibitalia covered some of the period, but it did glossed over a few things. XD

Italia is described pretty well, and they are so cute! ^^ (I'm Italian, of course... Romano's side, in fact XD)
And of course Northern Italians and Southern Italians don't get along very well (I hope we'll surpass these prejudices and this kinda hate in the future, 'cause they exists for some argues that are from a very, very old past, and it's kinda stupid that remains nowadays, ya know... ^^)

They are so cute *w*, I can´t believe I have just discovered this. One thing, shouldn´t it be "latino" instead of "latiano"? :S That´s at least the word we use, maybe other countries don´t.

In Spanish, the word is "latino", -"from the Latin"-.
The Spanish speakers call "latinos" all the languajes with heavy influence from the Latin: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, etc. So, to us, the spanish and italian people are latinos; and the mexican, the brazilian the cubans, etc., are latinos too.

80% of the times we use the word 'latino' is to indicate the Roman Empire dead language which we commonly still study in our high schools. °w°'

Why are human names given to these nations if they represent nations?

do they use them in the manga?

What is the point of them?

I feel like they're useless and you should just call them by their names anyway. I.E. N.Italy and S.Italy...etc.

By the demand of fans. No, they don't get used in the manga. It's just their nation names.

They were never meant to have human names, but a lot of fans wanted them ( I don't know why ) So Himaruya picked some out. Without, of course, any real care. Don't worry, I know how you feel, but I also find it kinda fun too. :3
