[profiles] EUROPE PART TWO
Just a bit more! Push, push!
Here is Part Two of the European countries. This time, it's the Austria-Hungary couple! (Husband and wife)
AUSTRIA
Nation's name: Republik Osterreich (The Republic of Austria)
Capital: Vienna
Language: German
Birthday: October 26th, 476 A.D.
National flower: Edelweiss (same as Switzerland's)
Human name: Roderich Edelstein
Height: Unknown
Age: Do the math XD
A super power with an elegance that was born of the Habsburg family and prides himself on glorious days that once were.
Gets along poorly with France because he is always being poked and taken lightly by him.
His personality is a bit more optimistic and quiet than Germany's, but because he is a bit stubborn, he has been left behind by the times.
Is the type who loves art, music, and the food culture of his own country. He gives priority to his hobbies rather than to work.
Compared to Germany, he is also more well-spoken, and it feels almost as though he was raised as a young master of some rich household.
HUNGARY
Nation's name: Magyar Koztarsasag (The Republic of Hungary)
Capital: Budapest
Language: Hungarian
Wedding Anniversary: June 8th, 1867 (This refers to the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, when she married Austria)
National flower: Geranium and tulips
Human name: Elizabeth Héderváry
Height: Unknown
Age: Unknown
A long time ago, Hungary was a nomadic nation that chased horses on the plains.
After settling down, became a pitiful nation that was constantly invaded by other nations.
Because other nations aren't really nice to her, she loves Austria because he was a bit kinder to her.
The Monarchy of Austria-Hungry had a compromise that said they would support each other in a fight...though it was more like asking Austria for help.
Even though it was for a short time, Hungary is proud of the union she had with Austria.
Her personality is introverted, but she works hard behind the scenes.
Sometimes her tongue slips and her potty mouth from her days as a horse-riding nomad would rear its ugly head.
Doesn't get along with Romanians to the point she'd use Romanian names to name her dogs.
Also, for those who are wondering about scanlations, they will come after all the nation's profiles are done. Translating is not that easy, if not completely time-consuming. Please be patient.

Sorry for being the one who grabbed you into this xD

(This actually will help me in understanding grade 9 history ;v; )

I sit in class smiling like a Cheshire Cat when my teacher mentions 'Austria and Hungary' in the same sentence.
Then, I start daydreaming about these too.
xD
-
Anyway what they write about Hungary is not really true...
"After settling down, became a pitiful nation that was constantly invaded by other nations." --> this hurts so much...

That said, I love how Austria's the only country whose uniform has a cravat. XD

Austrians go in STYLE.

Hmm, so Hungary's fujoshi leanings are not canon?
no subject
Oh, the fujoshiness is completely canon. It shines especially in the 2007 Christmas Special. She is a fujoshi through and through.

Currently, it's a manga and there is a drama CD out for it. The anime is in production.

I just hope she'll be pictured as a strong and rebellious girl, after all even though we were invaded several times and were always abused by other bigger nations.
No matter how many war went through our people still stand there ground :)
Mostly in the II W war, let's hope she'll be as I hope xD
Sorry for rambling though ^^'

Hajrá magyarok!! (hátha jönnek még szebb idők...)
History- Pitiful? We've got some pride you know
Hungary is one of the oldest countries in Europe. It was settled in 896, before France and Germany became separate entities, and before the unification of Anglo-Saxon kingdoms. Medieval Hungary controlled more territory than medieval France, and the population of medieval Hungary was the third largest of any country in Europe.
...
After an early Hungarian state was formed in this territory military power of the nation allowed the Hungarians to conduct a lot of successful fierce campaigns and raids as far as present-day Spain. (MUAHAHHA!)
...
In 1446, the estates elected the great general John (János) Hunyadi as governor (1446–53) and then as captain-in-chief (1453–56) of the country. Hunyadi was known as the "Török-verő" -- the Turk Beater. He won a stupendous amount of victories against the Turks, usually with far inferior numbers. Hunyadi's greatest victory against the turks was Siege of Belgrade in 1456. Hunyadi defended the city against the onslaught of the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II. During the siege, Pope Callixtus III ordered the bells of every church to be rung every day at noon, as a call for believers to pray for the defenders of the city. However, in many countries, news of the victory arrived before the order, and the ringing of the church bells at noon thus transformed into a commemoration of the victory. The Popes didn't withdraw the order, and Catholic churches still ring the noon bell to this day (Did you know that?)
...
His mercenary standing army called the Black Army of Hungary (Hungarian: Fekete Sereg) was an unusually big army in its age, it accomplished a series of victories also capturing parts of Austria, Vienna (1485) and parts of Bohemia. His library, the Bibliotheca Corviniana, was Europe's greatest collection of historical chronicles, philosophic and scientific works in the 15th century, and second only in size to the Vatican Library which mainly contained religious material. His renaissance library is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.[28]
READ IT FURTHER ON WIKIPEDIA, PLEASE, NO, I BEG YOU! It offends us grately that they don't know anything about our country...

that hurts .... (maybe because I`m laughing so hard or just because I`m Romanian)
but still.... is true; Romanians and Hungarians never got along (mainly because of Transilvania). Hungary-Romania are worst than France-England, at least they get along when they have to fight someone (I`m not saying this because I know history, but because I know how the first ones act).
no subject
And yeah... sadly it's true. I just don't get why the majority of the Hungarians still think like this. When I'm arguing with somebody about this topic (my head hurts because of their stupidity), I nearly get beaten when I say "come on, Trianon was more than 85 years ago, the only thing you _should_ change is your attitude, so let's be friendly with each other!" I sometimes wonder can we ever change this... Can we? What do you think?

I don`t know about you but in Romanian humor "the Hungarian" is a stereotype and appears in a lot of jokes and comedy shows. But I`m convinced than through cultural exchanges we`ll get to be very good friends ^^ (for example in my city, which is pretty far from the Hungarian border, everybody loves kurtos kolac ... mmmmm I love that thing ...)
oh and.... I always wanted to ask a Hungarian this.... um... can you please tell me a joke about us Romanians ^^ please ... the internet isn`t very helpfull.... I found only one but I`m not sure if it`s Hungarian and not Romanian...

A székely is travelling on a cart accompanied by his son.
Suddenly, a biker dashes next to them, than leaves them behind.
They don't say anything.
Ten minutes later another headless biker foreruns them.
They remain silent.
Some time later, the third biker, without a head passes them by.
Now the father says to his son:
-My dear son please put the scythe streigth on the back already!

wow, it really is a surprise, I gave humor as an example, because the way someone laughs at you, may influence how others think of you, not always correct thought ...
the joke I thought was hungarian is:
One day in Heaven, Saint Peter asks God:
-My Lord, you said there has to be a balance in this world, but I think You messed up with Hungary`s balance.
-How come Peter?
-Well, Hungary has beautiful lands, smart people, and other good things, but where are the bad things? You know, for the balance...
-Well Peter, true there are a lot of good things about Hungary, but wait until you see it`s neighbors...
or the very short version of this joke:
Why is Hungary next to Romania? As punishment from God...
I personally find the first one very funny ^^...

(as a Hungarian I feel kind of offended about his/her comment, not that sentence in Hungary-chan's profile...)

Please write me, why do you think my comment should be apologized for.
Sry for my bad english
You may also send me a hungarian letter (yonome@freemail.hu)

I just wanted to ask you to clarify that information 'cause I'm a bit confused by it XD!
Thank you for the translation, it's enjoying to read it =D

"After settling down, became a pitiful nation that was constantly invaded by other nations."
...Hmmm? This is not true. (Leszánalmasoztak... :( )
"Even though it was for a short time, Hungary is proud of the union she had with Austria."
Aaaaaand this is not true. xD This is bullshit.

Pont. Remélem, így már érthető.
Okay, I just tried to clear things up for the Hungarians who got pissed-off for nothing :D

This Austrian fully supports the Austria/Hungary pairing.
After all, it's historically cannon.
