[scanlation] Blood Sunday 1905

As promised, here is the other scanlation that I did for Hetalia, this one being the Bloody Sunday incident in 1905.  Seriously, with a history like that, it's hard to blame Russia for going completely insane.  (I have my theories/opinions about Russia, but...that'll come later)

Translations by me, comic taken from the site.  Enjoy!

Also, this is one of the strips that solidified my love for the Russia/Lithuania pairing XD;

Thanks for translating it !

(sorry I can't help you since I don't know any kanjis T_T)

Hmm... the only help I can offer is this Japanese Wikipedia page. (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%98%E3%82%BF%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A2#.E5.90.84.E5.9B.BD.E3.81.AE.E3.83.97.E3.83.AD.E3.83.95.E3.82.A3.E3.83.BC.E3.83.AB.E3.81.AB.E3.81.A4.E3.81.84.E3.81.A6) It has some of the names in katakana.

But Ivan has a last name, right?

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2008-06-01 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Believe it or not, all the names are listed in the Hetalia Wikipedia article (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%98%E3%82%BF%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A2), complete with height and 'human age'. Yes there is one. I love Japan, my goodness me.

(There may be misspellings done in the translation here--I mainly put the Japanese spellings into wiki, get an article and jump back to English when it looks weird, but it doesn't work all the time.)

Northern Italy - Feliciano Vargas,
Southern Italy - Lovino Vargas ('Romano' is his 'country nickname', to seperate the north and south without hassle in canon. IIRC N-Italy's nickname is Veneziano. It stuck.)
France - Francis Bonnefoy,
Russia - Ivan Braginsky
Austria - Roderich Edelstein
Hungary - Elizabetha Héderváry
Spain - Antonio Fernandez Cariado
Switzerland - Bash Zwingli (I'm pretty sure it's not spelled 'Bash'...)
Poland - Felix Łukasiewicz
Lithuania - Toris Lorinaitis
Latvia - Raivis Galante
Estonia - Eduard Fonvock (I TRIED)
Korea - Im Yonsu?
Turkey - Sadiq Adnan
Greece - Heracles Karpusi
Sweden - Berwald...er, Oxsensshelna?
Finland - Tino Vainameissen? Vainamaisen?
Prussia - Gilbert Beilschmidt
Canada - Matthew Williams

BTW, perhaps カークランド would be closer to Kirkland than Clarkland? Fandom also uses it, if that means anything.

Omake : Sealand - Peter [insert England's surname here]

And oops, I didn't see the comment above even though it's like, six days old. The excitement must be getting to me. -_- Sorry...

............would you believe I was actually a Trigun fan, and a Vash fan at that, from a while back? The name completely escaped me! XD

I wonder what basis the author gets their names from. It seems there's no really consistent pattern.

Yes! *Squee* Russia is too damned awesome for words.

Finland - Tino Vainameissen? Vainamaisen?

Väinämöinen (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Väinämöinen). Yes, we do like torturing foreigners with out excessive umlauts.

Hey, that's the guy from the Kalevala, isn't he? I never thought that's how you pronounce his name.

I love how many Hetalia names are linked to mythology. Okay, not that many, but I do love it so when the links popped up.

Wait, why is Russia holding a weapon on his arm? Don't tell me he--?

Was this the incident that turned him into a Yandere? D:

He snapped TWICE? O_O Wow, tough job being Lithuania , then ._.
"Children who can't play nice", he meant that as in , he's trying to stop them by FIRING them? POor Russia ;__;

Woah. I've spent the past hour browsing about this webcomic like mad. It's awesome, thanks for translating it! /o/ *Joins the comm*

That said... w-wow. I'm not exactly sure on characterization here X'D Being the history nerd I am, it's... how to put it. Russia (the country) was totally not right under the Tsars, that was the reason for Oktober 1905's Revolution. Why is Russia (the character) acting as if this was an unfair, unprompted riot?

Thanks for the scanlated strips!! I'm trying to collect all the ones I can.

Russia is EVIL XD
