[Fanart] Hetalia Ballet
Title: Hetalia Ballet sketches
Rating: G
Warning: ...for dancing men? And utter crack?
Characters: Germany, Italy
Summary: The titles speak for themselves, I think.
Germany/Italy Pas de Deux
More of the same -- but very rough.
Because I have recently become very interested in the idea of military/history inspired ballets. And I started imagining Hetalia as this amazing ballet...
If Hetalia were a ballet:
-It'd be this seriously masculine piece, like the ballet Spartacus, except with WWII military type costumes rather thanman-skirts Roman period costumes.
-It'd probably be more abstract than literal on the historical going-ongs.
-The Nations would be introduced by variations danced to their national anthems.
-Little bits and pieces from the period's music would be worked in, like wartime marches and swing
-Ludwig and Feliciano would have a pas de deux. Because they're canon. What?
-I'd love to work pieces of the Prince Igor Polovtsian Dances in somehow. At the very least, the parts involving Russia.
-More of my crack-thoughts here - LJ link.
If I were a normal Hetalia fan, I'd be doing something reasonable. Not imagining ballets based on WWII webcomics and military-historical going-ons.

Also, re: the dancing, I definitely want to see, if possible as live action, the various countries doing national dances--England and France a minuet, Poland a Mazurka, etc. Hopefully I can get some of this off the ground too, but these are really beautiful sketches and I had been wondering what the menfolks would look like dancing.

the various countries doing national dances
Ah, that would be fantastic! :D My knowledge about what folk dances belong to which nations is actually pretty sketchy...but that sounds wonderful. Mmmm, there's something really lovely about seeing men dance well, actually, especially since the general stereotype seems to be that dancing is for girls only.

It may also have completed my life. Thank you.
Edit: And I of course love your sketches, too! They're so dramatic~ I am just overcome by the brilliance of this idea. OTL

Hahah, and I'm glad you found the idea of Alfred dancing to that song entertaining too ;)

(which makes me giggle because there ARE some all-male ballet companies out there.... with guys trained to do the female roles.... which means we could get some pretty neat stuffs going on while maybe still having them all dressed male-like... and then import a few girls for Hungary and the like. *o*)

I was actually thinking everyone portrayed as their proper gender though.
Well, except maybe Poland. I like seeing proper male dancers. Izz sexy ^.^no subject
"Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!"
I fully support Hetalia ballet. With all the guys and being introduced by their national anthems/dances. That would be so awesome.

Loved the sketches too ♥.

Ballet, when done by really skilled, professional dancers...and none of that namby-pamby pink sickly sweet stuff that is the stereotype...is really an awe-inspiring art form.
