The rules state that all fanart must include fanwork information, the template is located on the community profile. Please add it.

I believe the majority of icons makers use the many versions of photoshop to make icons. However, here are some links to a few alternatives if you are looking for an image editing software. [1 (http://lifehacker.com/5307419/five-best-online-image-editors)][2 (http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2009/04/five-best-image-editing-tools/)][3 (http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/pixelbasedwin/tp/freephotoedw.htm)]

If you want to make animated icons, some people use imagegrab (http://paul.glagla.free.fr/imagegrab_en.htm) (alternatively, programs like VLC (http://www.videolan.org/) and Frameshot (http://www.frame-shots.com/) and ) to capture screenshots and use animation editing software to put it all together. These particular icons are usually made with Adobe Image Ready. A free alternative is Serif's DrawPlus (http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/) program.
