-W-Where, Russia-san?-

-On the map...-

-...Maybe...Japan?-

-...Right, it's missing from the world map!-

-Actually, it's not missing...It's covered by the poster...-

-Wasn't Japan together with Germany and Italy?-

-Y-Yes.-

-Did I declare war against him too?-

-N-No...you probably...ehm...forgot?-

-Then, let's declare war against him too.-

-B-But, Russia-san! Italy's with us now, and so is Hungary! Germany has been defeated in May, America-san already said he's going on with the bombing...

-Well, better later then never.-

 

And thus, on August 8th, Russia declared war against Japan. World War II ended on August 15th. They had *officially* been at war for 8 days.

Better later then never. And did you guys learn something from this? Come on, let's say it together : Never paste your poster next to a World Map. You'll end up forgetting to declare war against one of your enemies.

 
This is what happens when you're actually supposed to focus on Japan's condition during the last years of the war and end up thinking too much about pointless details...

In a certain sense, they were indeed looking to the opposite ways. Before 1941 URSS has been focusing on "making everyone be one with Russia" by moving West (Finland) and then, starting from June 22th, had to face Germany's invasion. Instead, Japan has been moving towards the Pacific sea all the time. So yeah, they kinda were focusing on opposite direction and forgot who was behind their back! XD

Yeah, I kind of remember that the world map pasted on my Japanese guest house was like that, with Japan in the middle.

But even with this, URSS was quite big...How large was your poster, Japan? XD

Really? I just picked up a random 1942's world map. Colours had been screwed up by the grey/white conversion of the image, so you should probably not paying too much attention at them...

Yep. Better late than never. Since 8th august to 16th august Soviet Union erased army of Japan from Manchuria and all islands of Okhotsk sea, capturing >600'000 POW and freeing territory larger than whole east europe.
What's your country did in 8 days :D
