♥Cute little desktop mascots - Latvia & Sealand♥

I can't figure this out, but I'd really like to, I'm sorry if someone else has talked about this before but I didn't see it. Can anyone help?

This took me like a month to get. SO DON'T WORRY, I SHALL HELP YOU

FIRST, download this program, SSP. It's better than the "Crow" program that Himaruya provides.
http://ssp.shillest.net/archive/ssp_2_01_54f.exe (http://ssp.shillest.net/archive/ssp_2_01_54f.exe)

THEN, download this package of the Sealand-Latvia mascots:
http://kitayume.sakura.ne.jp/ghost/sealat.nar (http://kitayume.sakura.ne.jp/ghost/sealat.nar)

Install ssp_2_01_54f.exe
(I dunno, put it on your desktop or something? lol.)

The SSP program should install into a folder called "ssp_2_01_54f". Open that up and you should see a folder called "ghost". Put the sealat.nar file in that folder.

Go back to the main folder "ssp_2_01_54f". Open the file "ssp" (the icon should be a cute pink bow with a yellow bell). A crazy cat-girl should load up and start talking to you! Her name's Emily.

Now, right-click on her and a menu should come up (hopefully it's in English). Open the option "Change Ghost" and pick the one that's not "Emily/Phase 4"! Sealand and Latvia appear to amuse you with their cuteness!

Now, if you want to be able to read the Japanese, that's a different case entirely. I can help you with that too, if you need it.

Let me know if you need any other help or if this doesn't work! (Or if it's confusing XD)

Not OP(obviously) but I'm having some problems. The .nar file is in the "ghost" folder and Emily loads fine, but when I check under "change ghost" there is only Emily listed. :<

[identity profile] nisecal.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Ack -- maybe I remembered wrong.
Try dragging the .nar file onto Emily. I think that makes it load? :D

[identity profile] tickled-pink.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
That worked. :D Thanks~

i get the same problem too! D:

[identity profile] neko16.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
it actually took a long time for me to figure this out too cos I kept getting error messages as well xD but the thing is, you have to enable your computer to read japanese menu's. Now I dunno how this works for Vista users, but for XP users it works as following:

1) go to the configuration screen
2) click on the icon of a little globe which should be called country configurations or something along those lines (mine is in dutch so I can't say for sure xD)
3) once you're in the country configurations menu, there should be a tab that says "advanced", go there.
4) at the top of this "advanced" tab there should be a dropdown menu under the heading "Language for programs that are not Unicode compatible". So go to this dropdown menu, select Japanese, reboot your comp and it [i]should[/i] all work.

do be aware that it will sometimes make random other menu's japanese :T like for me, when I needed Java updates, suddenly the install menu was in Japanese xD so if that's a problem maybe you should reconsider .__.;

hope this helps lol

Thanks so much! I did this and the error message didn't appear anymore. :D

Wow, late post is late, but um, the link to download the SSP program doesn't seem to be working for me. I'm getting this (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/screenie_user/404error.jpg?t=1240004745). ;;

*is probably doing something wrong*

[identity profile] nisecal.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Looks like they've just updated their site... go here (http://ssp.shillest.net/) to the main page and click on the big pink button on the left side! ("Complete Install Package"). That should work!

[identity profile] crown-of-laurel.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, thank you. X3

Okay, so I got it up and running, but when I try to change the language to English, there's a little window-thing that comes up and says:Language change may take effect after restarting SSP. Now, what I'm wondering is how do you restart the program? ;;; (Sorry for all of the questions ;;)

[identity profile] nisecal.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, well, just try changing it, then exit the program, and then start it again! See if that works.

[identity profile] crown-of-laurel.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I tried that, and it didn't work. *sigh*

[identity profile] crown-of-laurel.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Or... is what they're saying not supposed to be in English...?

[identity profile] nisecal.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Ah! Right. Only the menu can be in English.

There's no translated version of the speech bubbles (yet).

Maybe I can look into that.

[identity profile] crown-of-laurel.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ah I should have been more clear. ;;

Okay. For now shall look at their cute faces (And Russia who scares the crap out of me when he appears on my screen ;;)

And that would be really nice and much appreciated. ♥

[identity profile] fallingmango.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Um... I would be really happy to get them to work too, but the link to the other program (SSP) doesn't seem to work...? Do you have any idea where could I get the program?

[identity profile] nisecal.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry! They've updated it recently. Try this (http://ssp.shillest.net/archive/ssp_2_01_76f.exe)!

[identity profile] fallingmango.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
Okay that works, thank you so much~! ^^

[identity profile] fallingmango.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
....another question. I downloaded it, got it to work with an other person's help but when I start it Sealand and Latvia appear but I start getting a weird error message "Error on satori::calculate" or something like that. More and more of the error messages appear until I manage to quit the whole program. Any idea how could I get it to work, please...?

[identity profile] yumehaka.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
wish this would work on my mac Dx oh well~

[identity profile] may-chan.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
here's another method that I used and it works on Vista too

I have this AppLocale installed (http://alcahest.club.fr/perso/apploc/applocale.html) on my computer that gives me the option of running Japanese programs without going to change your settings and restart blahblah blah. Basically you right-click on any program and choose "Locale Japanese" and it'll run and it works with games and even this cute Hetalia program thingie :D
