Help, please.

I have a project on Hetalia due at the end of the week as my final grade in Sociology.

I need your help. Please consider taking 5 minutes or so to make and upload a video of you talking about how you discovered Hetalia/what you like about it/who you like in it/whatever you want.

More details can be found in my other post: community.livejournal.com/hetalia/2176682.html (I really didn't want to post this again...it must be annoying, but I'm getting a little desperate D:)

Just get it to me asap if you plan to help. And I will love you forever.

To make sure this isn't spam, here's a picture of the papercraft!AxisPowers~

But if this still isn't acceptable, please delete mods :X

EDIT;; Since I realize a lot of people may not be able to record/upload a video, if you'd like to just type out your answers that'd be fine too. Feel free to include whatever you like; or if you'd like more specific guidelines, I can give you some more questions to answer :D

Ivan (russia) and Yao (China) are my favorite characters

hmm….like I already said it made history 100000000 times more interesting. I just wish the anime would have stayed close to historical accuracy so it could be played in schools (oh my gods that would be so cool to see hetalia in school >.<)

-Anything else Hetalia related you’d like to share: It's been said before, but history class will never be the same again for me now. EVER. <3

I wanted to help out earlier when I saw your post but I couldn't cuz I did have the materials to make a video, sorry! Typing though no problem :D

Hometown: Sacramento, California USA
Ethnicity: Chinese American
Age: 19
Gender: Female
How did I discover Hetalia: I was just surfing through Mangaupdates.com, looking for some random stuff to read when I stumbled upon it.
What I like about it: At first it was total turn off for me since I'm a East Asian History major. I know I was being racist but I felt a Japanese person writing a comedic parody of War World II was poor taste. I say that because I have run into another manga where the main character went back in time to help Japan win the war. After reading the reviews from other members, I decided to give it a try and honest to God, I fell in love with it. Although not following the exact historic events of the World Wars, it provides historic backgrounds that I honestly did not know of (Did you know that the Church of England tried to curse Germany into submission during the World War...it did not work) and includes cultural references. It was never meant to be taken seriously and although it says the timeline is between the World War, it often jumps around and provides a comedic look as to why relations between countries are the way they are i.e. Canada's invisibility due to America's over the top antics. The personification of the countries with their quirky personalities makes it even the more enjoyable. My history classes now have taken on a whole new meaning. When I think of China, Japan, and Korea, I actually think of their Hetalia characters. It's taken out the bitterness of the war and the relations between the countries for me. As stated by someone in the LJ community, "It's good to remember history but it's best if everyone forget about the hate."
Who is your favorite pairings/characters: I love all of them, can't really choose. Each of them are adorable in their own way. In reference to pairings, it's canon according to the comic and canon according to history. Looking at it that way, everyone is "married" or "dating" everyone thanks to globalization and capitalism.
Anything else Hetalia related you'd like to share: I probably love Hetalia not only because of the comic but because of the LJ community. It's fun being able to share you enthusiasm with a group of people who enjoy it as much as you do. Not only that, most of the LJ members are from around the world, providing insight on their own country.

hello, i cant really send a vide or anything but i will type it out for you. hope you dont mind

-Who you are/where you’re from

Hello, I am Ashker and I am from America (or the United States of ALFRED as hetalians like to call them) I am female and a freshman in high school (just in case that is important at all).

-How you discovered Hetalia

Well, I was browsing deviantart.com and saw some characters reappearing over and over again. The people I watch (aka keep tabs on what drawings they are posting . . . just so that doesn’t sound so totally weird) were drawing things from this odd thing called "Hetalia". The characters looked so cool. So I went and looked up hetalia on google and found the scanaltion site...and I got hooked.

-What you like about it

It is really funny and history just became fun! It also is so cool to see all these people from all over loving the different countries. World peace one bishounen at a time ~_^

-Who your favorite pairings/characters are

Making me choose between to wonderful countries of the world! SHAME! (lol, jk) i wont pick a country but as a character Ivan is really cool. I like a lot of characters but Ivan has been very interesting since I have started reading it and voila he became my favorite character.
As for pairings….since they are mostly guys it is a bit weird to pair but I know a lot of people do so anyways….
In ways it is a bit creepy to pair countries but I wont go into that. LOL
but as the previous comment said if it was really 'country to country' then everyone is paired. i just dont pair thee characters....i have been looking at the pairings and contemplating them though....ooh s many contradictions...please ignore me OTL

-Anything else Hetalia related you’d like to share

I really have to try really hard not to laugh when my teacher talks about the different countries in social studies. And just because of hetalia I suddenly love learning about the different countries. When I am bored in web design instead of sleeping I am now looking on BBC news for random articles.
It is just amazing to see how many people like Hetalia also. It gets fans from all over the world (yes I know that for a fact). It had the potential to be shunned and forever fall into the deep dark hole that is the internet. But the way it was written, the cutesy-not-quite-professional-but-very-good art style made these characters and story extremely loveable. The way the author draws on stereotypes that have everyone nodding and saying ‘yes, we are like that aren’t we?’ makes it humorous and gives off a light-hearted feeling. The comics do have a touch of racism but I do not believe that there is enough to offend anyone. Overall it is really fun.

No camera, and even if I did I wouldn't know how to upload a video....anyway. Hope my typed answer help you some.

Who are you/where you're from:
Loki, California (And now I'll always refer to my country as the United States of Alfred, haha)

How you discovered Hetalia:
I found out about Hetalia a while ago and didn't like it. Then, recently, I was on DA and had a hankering to look at pretty anime boys, and I knew thatt Hetalia was full of them, so I looked up fanart, starting watching the anime, and I was hooked from then on.

What you like about it:
I like that Hetalia makes you read about history. (I know I do, anyway.) I like that I'm learning my country's history again because of it. I like that so many people love it and love the other countries and maybe we could have a little bit of world peace because of it. (Idealogical, wishful thinking, I know, but a girl can dream.) And, uh. I like that it's kinda made me proud to be an American. XD

Who you like in it:
First and foremost, America. (Totally not biased or anything ;p) the rest of the Allies, N. Italy, Germany, and my ancestral nations, Denmark and Norway.

Whatever you want:
I've always liked history, but Hetalia makes it a lot more fun. Hetalia: Learning history through porn.

[identity profile] begger4mcgregor.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
Who you are/where you’re from:
Amanda from Oregon in the US of Alfred.

How you discovered Hetalia:
As with a lot of people I saw a bunch of fanart for it on DA and had to see what it was all about.

What you like about it:
It's hil-fuckin'-larious! History has never been so fun! Hell, I'm even learning things... from anime and manga!!! Awesome! I love the fact that the series is based on silly stereotypes, but doesn't take itself seriously enough that it's offensive(I think anyway). Every country gets poked fun at, but not truly villanized.

Who your favorite pairings/characters are:
My favorite character is probably England, but America, Germany, Cananda and Japan are also nifty. Not a huge shipper, but I'm starting to warm up to US/UK, US/Canada, Germany/N.Italy, Greece/Japan and Sweden/Finland.

Anything else Hetalia related you’d like to share:
Just that I really REALLY wish Hetalia had been around when I was in school, because I think I would have gotten into History a lot more!

[identity profile] rabieskatten.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I sent you a mail with my interview~

[identity profile] mitsukirox101.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I will type it out because I'm too lazy to make a video (gah i feel soo mean D:)

-Who you are/where you’re from (optional)

Okay so I'm 14 and I live in America but I'm from Nigeria and I'm going into highschool next (not really happy since I growing up, I wanna be a kid forever lol) ah and I'm a girl~

-How you discovered Hetalia

Thinking back I'm quite surprised/happy. Like everyone else, I run out of anime to watch so I was looking at the next anime listing for January. I saw 'Axis Powers Hetalia' and was like 'axis'... waah? I read about it a little and watched a little of episode 1 and I was like "mleh I'll pass". I think it was because the eps were 5 mins long and I didn't get all the jokes (like China's weird food and why Greece was sleeping, I looked at someone's blog to get those orz). Then I was on the usually anime forum I hung out at and someone was talking about Hetalia and about how it talks about WW1 in a fun way then I was like hmm I'll go learn more about it. Next thing I know I was eagerly waiting for the next episode and knew what the whole thing was about XD

-What you like about it

I like how the whole thing is funny, but it still tells you uncommon facts about the world, and all the countries are lovable characters so you remember more stuff. You can memorize all the flags/capitals because of the trading cards :D Also, Himaruya-sensei's art is nice and gentle on your eyes (the coloring stlye? I dunno I like it) You can almost always picture them in your History class wooo~ This also takes out the unhappy hateful side of war/not world peace together (but never completely, just a little)

-Who your favorite pairings/characters are

I don't really mind any pairings cuz I like everyone but the ones I'm most fond of are Germany X Italy, Spain X Romano, and Swiss X Lichenstein. The things I look for in my pairings are if they are canon to the comic or history

-Anything else Hetalia related you’d like to share

Yesterday I found out I didn't know what the capital of Switzerland was and I freaked out and was like "argh what's the capital?! How can I not know this >:I" Well I found out it was Bern ^_^||| I like how so many peopel from around the world like Hetalia, it's like a world assembly kinda, and the comics are like "you read the comic/you listen to the comic/you watch the comic" so you can see everything in 3 different ways ^_^

I hope this isn't long, this was a cool idea 8D

[identity profile] mitsukirox101.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I forgot my favorite Characters are China, Russia, and Italy :3

[identity profile] huilisti.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
-Who you are/where you’re from (optional)
I'm a 17-year-old girl from Finland.

-How you discovered Hetalia
I was surfing a Finnish forum, when I found a thread about what people are going to cosplay in future conventions. I was really puzzled when I read that someone was going to cosplay as Finland. It sounded really weird and I wanted to know what was going on, what the series was and so on, so I searched for more information *googlegooglegoogle* and found this site. I liked the idea of the series immediately and was completely hooked!

-What you like about it
The historical parts and all the weird little facts. I simply love how the historical situations are changed into something completely different, f.ex. taking over the vital regions and so on. :D It's also great to learn something new, even though the information is mostly useless. :P

-Who your favorite pairings/characters are
FinlandxSweden, ChibitaliaxHRE and AustriaxHungary are great pairings. <3<3

Sorry that it's quite short, but I hope it helps at least a little!
