[FANART] GDSKJHKHG;SD FATHERLAND.

Title: A near-absurd number of Germany sketches.
Author/Artist: Meeee.
Character(s) or Pairing(s): US, UK, Russia, Turkey, Made Up!Mexico, and GOOD LORD SO MUCH GERMANY.
Rating: PG
Warnings: One brief reference to a Very Sensitive Topic. Um, yeah. That One.
Summary: 8 doodles and hopefully a little bit o' learnin'.

1896: The Kruger Telegram! Germany congratulates a Boer leader in South Africa on putting down some uppity British expatriates. Britain gets pissy. The Kaiser apologizes, but things are never quite the same again between the two.

1914: The Willy-Nicky Correspondence! Russia and Germany attempt to talk each other out of taking their escalating conflict any further before war breaks out. It doesn't end on a very positive note.

1917: The Zimmermann Telegram! Germany tries to convince Mexico to join him against America in exchange for help in recovering a few things lost in the Mexican-American War, such as Texas. America does not cotton to this one bit.

1942: The Riegner Telegram. A not-so-secret secret gets out. Certain people don't want to believe it. Not lulzy at all, I'm afraid.

....Aaaaand all the rest.

Post WWII. "Have I got a surprise for you!" OH DEAR.

Rebuilding with the help of some very special new friends. :D

Etiquette! Traditional American table manners generally call for one to rest an unoccupied hand in your lap, while German custom calls for keeping both fork and knife in hand for just about the full duration of the meal. Switching from one habit to the other is kinda hard. D:

Finally, a brief moment of respite before the next time I draw horrible things happening to him. XD; Oh, Ludwig. You and your high-waisted working pants have earned a nap.

That's all, folks! :D

oh dear XD if only history books included these, the learning would be oh so much easier ;)
i love the etiquette one XDD ah but 1942 is so serious 0_0 *shiver*

thanks for sharing

I think I've mentioned before that I love your art, but have I mentioned that I love your username too? *__*

[identity profile] holy-shpootnik.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
SHUT UP TEXAS, GROWNUPS ARE TALKING.
Oh lordy, how I guffawed.

I also love the etiquette one. The expressions are awesome.

But I'll have to agree that the one of the Riegner Telegram is just chilling.

[identity profile] demikkusuu.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
THAT'S MY STATE I LOVE SO MUCH or not

god, with the riegner telegram, have you read those american newspapers during that time? those articles are absoluting chilling because you can feel their suspension of belief

and bravo, germans and americans 8'D

[identity profile] princessarisa.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG It's my state too!!!!! Go Texans! XD
And poor Al is verbally abusing him. TEXAS IS OLD MAN. He's older than Sealand that's for sure. Pretty much a young adult. :D

And jakfjdsl these are as cute as it always is. Russia and Germany... <3

[identity profile] princessarisa.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
LMAO! XD
America finally knows how UK feels. And oh god can you imagine the Civil War?
The whole south pulled an Al. Minus the winning of course.
And Texas is like Sealand to UK in personality too.

Texas: I can stay on my own without jerk-US's help. I mean, I got my independence from Mexico on my own so who needs him?! *pouts and complains*
Louisiana: Now that's all right honey, that's alright. *insert super southern accent*
Texas: I mean gosh ya'll, he acts like I'm a new state or something. I'm almost as old as he is! Well, almost~ .... WHATEVER! DX

And it helps that Texas is known to be a stubborn state.

[identity profile] demikkusuu.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
haha, if it was based on leaders, god knows how badass russia would be, how pathetic the us would be, and france just. wtf.
wait, that doesn't sound too different.

Texas. ಠ_ಠ
I am so proud and discouraged at the same time

This (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/MeltedPeep/germ4.jpg) makes me think of this:

Yes.

[identity profile] xandras-coffee.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
XD I have to agree that my favorite part of this is "SHUT UP TEXAS, THE GROWNUPS ARE TALKING." X'D Being an American who moved from a completely logical state to the madhouse that IS Texas--where people still insist the place should have remained its own country, and has a right to have an opinion on a grand scale--I approve of this sentiment. XD

Awesomeness. :3

[identity profile] tulleskirt.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
We were just discussing the Riegner Telegram in class. :( So sad, but you pulled it off very well.

The others are just funny. :D America should totally have a bunch of state-tans.

[identity profile] ghostangel.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha I <3 Ludwig (and America haha) Shut up Texas, the grownups are talking!

[identity profile] atiko.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Fuuuuccckkckckk my interwebs ate my comment oh gods *HAET* Okay, so. Second attempt.

I love these~ :D and thank you for including wiki links, these pics are even better with background knowledge. Or maybe one just needs to know that Germany completely fails at telegram writing.

All that Germany-UK hate started with that Kruger telegram? But it's not even that bad...
The emoticon one with Russia IS MADE OF UTTER WIN, seriously.
Riegner telegram: I guess that proves you can get away with anything as long as it's so incredibly out-of-there noone will ever believe it.

"Hands where I can see'em, yank" = LOLOLOLOLOL. ♥ (I've never heard of that, honestly. But then again, I might just have no manners.)
"Have I got a surprise for you!" = OH RUSSIA. Germany kinda had it coming...
Rebuilding with Turkey = Aww. ♥

[identity profile] atiko.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
and Britain's response along the lines of "...We're an ISLAND, u gaiz"

*rofls* Dear god, this would be great Hetalia-fied as well. I cannot unsee this series and its characters anymore! I'm ruined for life. :-(

The British Freaking Empire felt one-upped by Germany in terms of influence/colonies? xD Now that's funny - I faintly remember something from school about Germany feeling greatly inferior to the UK, itself. That's why they randomly established some half-assed colonies somewhere in South Africa to feel all ~colonial empire-ish~ and stuff.
Maybe UK and Germany should have just sat down and drunk some tea together, and tell each other how awesome and powerful they think the other is, and they would have felt better and it would have saved everybody a lot of trouble...

(Whut, there's an European way to cut food? What is the American way, then?)

[identity profile] manicrabbit.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
OMG.

I was actually going to ask about this :O

my grandmother (full blood German), taught me not to rest my hand on the table but to put my hand in my lap and then do the same with the switching of utensils and what not, etc etc.

here I thought it was a european thing, because everyone I know eats...well with their hands XD

[identity profile] kat8cha.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwwwwwww. Germany.

[identity profile] spanishwire.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] insomniel.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I love your posts, their facial expressions crack me up, (for the funny ones, anyways), plus I learn something I should have known but didn't! (Ehh, I'm from "THAT state" as well, but least I don't mind being edumakated?)

[identity profile] insomniel.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Aww yeah, I can't wait to see more history lessons from you!
(LOL TRU FAX. Texas history is definitely something else.)

[identity profile] joasakura.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] shourii.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
No, you're absolutely right, It's also why I was kind of surprised to see this subject. I wouldn't want Hetalia to deal with such a depressing subject..

[identity profile] naoko-k.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
i love see germany doin`messy thingies XDDDD

[identity profile] thechessycats.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
OH LUDWIG. <3

"SHUT UP TEXAS, GROWNUPS ARE TALKING" is one of my favorite quotes ever now. Because Texas still needs to learn when to STFU. D':

[identity profile] kotsuki-chan.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Waah! I love your art! \o/

Texas sometimes remind me the brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rio_Grande_do_Sul). The state began an conflict against the Empire of Brazil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_of_Brazil) called War of Tatters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_Farrapos) (in portuguese: Guerra dos Farrapos), and that resulted in the declaration of independence for the province as a republican state, giving rise to the "Republic Rio-Grandense". But the republic only lasted ten years, going back to be part of the empire in 1845. =P

[identity profile] alikurai.livejournal.com 2008-11-10 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahah this is so awesome! XD *Learns history while she can....* Draw moar! 8)

[identity profile] ibaly.livejournal.com 2008-11-12 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Slow comment! But, still... I love this~ <3

[identity profile] manicrabbit.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
CONGRADULATIONS.

I'm going to make State-tans now.

[identity profile] athena799.livejournal.com 2009-01-21 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
I was going back and rereading the history lessons as a study break when I suddenly did a double-take at the Russia/Germany post-WWII pic. D: I guess I missed it before, but suddenly I remembered exactly WHAT Russia did to Germany after the war. I think I'm gonna cry...

[identity profile] daughterking281.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, the little emoticon battle between Russia and Germany makes me grin like an idiot!

I also like England´s face in the Kruger Telagrame pic. It´s the expression I would have if I came upon a dead rat in my bed or something XD

The Riegner Telagram... man, that´s a sobering pic. You pulled off the general sentiment off very well with their expressions and poses though.

I like the the etiquite pic too XD Ah, countries and all their different ways of accidentaly offending people. ;3

Immensely enjoyed!

[identity profile] badficwriter.livejournal.com 2011-08-09 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
California would totally support Texas secession. >:D
