why do people have a problem with studio DEEN? i hear people everywhere complaining but i never know why.. m(_ _)m

Well, I think it's mostly because they .. weren't really good at animating before. Years ago their animations were a little less than mediocre; and fans are angry at that because the manga they choose to animate are the really good ones.

But now that's changing, of course. Studio DEEN's slowly changing and becoming better; as I can tell so far with the way they handle Vampire Knight / Guilty. ^_^

Their Weiss Kreuz looked pretty bad, IMO, but they got way better during the Glühen arc. And Fruits Basket has some of the best animation ever (in fact, I wanted the Hetalia designs to look like a mix between Himaruya's own... and Furuba. .___. Call me Hatori-deprived. XD).

Yes, that's why I said years ago. But of course, everyone is driven to improve, and Studio DEEN is on a roll at the moment. =D

Studio DEEN also did Ruroni Kenshin, Gravitation, Junjou Romantica (which actually had fantastic animation for a yaoi anime), Maison Ikkoku, the Ranma 1/2 Movies, Maria ga-Sama, Patlabor, all of Jigoku Shojo, and You're Under Arrest, and the Cowboy Bebop movie--so they actually do know how to turn out good quality animation.

Those anime had budgets, and therefore, good animation. Weiss Kruez had a budget of approximately one shoestring, and Fruits Basket suffered from poor story/everything over all...but I digress.

I guess people are complaining because they might have wanted Hetalia to be handled by oh, I dunno, maybe Sunrise or Gainax or 4 degree C or some other studio who also churns out popular anime. But the thing is that the lesser known studios like DEEN and Perriot and so on do put out quality anime.

Oh jeez, I'm rambling. Pardon while I shut up.

Yes, Studio DEEN does, really. But you know how people are -- they tend to look at the bad ones, and ignore the amazing / really good ones. =\

Budget is one factor that can make or break an anime -- next comes support / ratings. Most of the time it's this second option which "destroys" a good show.

Haha! True. There's also Production I.G., Enix, Bones, Mad House, Gonzo, Kyoto Animation, Studio Ghibli (Ohh, some of my favorite Japanese animation studios aside from Studio DEEN).

It's okay. ^_^ I think he first line / paragraph kind of ticked you off. I'm not washing my hands, but this is what I usually read from other fans with regards Studio DEEN. And it's quite sad to actually read those. =(
